Video playback initially works, until suddenly it doesn't; no new videos will work, and videos that previously played in the same browsing session will stop working. Easy to reproduce on Reddit by browsing any video-heavy subreddit. Leaving a broken video in a tab seems to infect the rest of the browser across websites; if a broken video from site A is open in another tab, videos on site B won't play.
Sometimes quitting and restarting Firefox is enough to temporarily get video playback working again; sometimes I have to manually clear the browser cache; at least once I've had to reboot my phone.

Hi community,
Hopefully, someone can help me with this strange issue:
I've installed Firefox for iOS (iPhone) and would like to add DuckDuckGo as my default search engine but there seems to be an issue with the query string as shown on this support page.
When entering DDG to the list in Settings using the suggested query string "https://www.duckduckgo.com/search?q=%s", every search in the URL text field (in this case "vin") sends me to the DDG start page where my string is changed to "search" in the search field (see image) and below with a bunch of search engines. Then I have to enter my initial search string one more time.
Hopefully, this explanation makes sense.
What can I do? Any help is very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Peter

I mistakenly uninstalled Firefox, then reboored and reinstalled it. How do I recover my saved passwords?
I tried going to the Data folder, but there is only 1 folder there, "export messages", for an app that lets me print out or save existing text messages .

Any else seeing this lately?
1. **Navigation Issues**: Firefox fails to correctly navigate forwards or backwards through browser history. It often does not load the intended previous page, skips pages, or refuses to load a page entirely, requiring the user to close all tabs and manually re-enter the URL.
2. **Loading Issues with External Links**: When opening links from external applications (e.g., email clients), Firefox frequently fails to load the expected webpage. Sometimes, it does not load any page, or it loads to a blank or the home page despite the URL being visible and highlighted in the address bar.

There is an on/off switch in the Android version of Firefox: Setting>Customize>Scroll to hide toolbar that is not there is the iOS version, that I use on my iPad. I've looked everywhere in the iPad version's settings, but that entire section (Customize) isn't there. Is there some way to make the toolbar in the iOS version visible all the time? It's really useful when I've scrolled down to read a page and need to switch tabs, something I do quite a lot.

I have synced my android tablet to my linux pc, but when i try to open the desktop bookmarks folder, I get a message saying I can't edit default folders. I know it's synced, because when I search bookmarks for a bookmark that I know to be on my pc, it comes up. The problem is that the folder will not open.
I have tried reinstalling. I don't know what else to try.

i am pretty desperate at this point, so i thought, i'd just ask you:
a while ago i had a breach of some of my old passwords. i was able to redo all my passwords into new and strong passwords before someone did shenanigans with my accounts, but the password sync of my firefox app on android still has the old passwords.
i tried disconnecting and reconnecting the sync, i tried deleting the cache and app data, still everytime i get the same result. i can't even log into ky university's default account anymore.
i desperately need your help. what am i doing wrong, what am i missing?
greetings!

Hello,
I'm facing a severe battery drain issue that occurs with all of the current Firefox versions for Android (Stable, Beta, Nightly). I have noticed that the problem mainly arises when I have played any type of video through the browser, such as a YouTube video or any auto-playing html video through a website. And I don't mean that the battery drain occurs WHILE I have the browser open, I mean in the background, after I have exited Firefox. I have also installed GSAM battery monitor with the necessary ADB battery stats permission given, and it seems that the "Video On" wakelock is always on with Firefox. It's like that the thread that plays the video has not stopped, even if I have force closed Firefox, and killed the video tab. For example, I'm attaching two screenshots from the battery monitor, where I have previously opened Firefox and played a video for like 15 seconds (see the "Audion On"), then immediately closed all the tabs and force closed the application. As you can see, the "Video On" has not stopped, like the "Audio On" wakelock, and continues to count (35 minutes). This may go on forever, such as if I leave the phone at night, I'll wake up the next day with Firefox video wakelock displaying something like 15 hours of playback (something that of course, is not true). The only way to stop the drain, is to restart the phone and not open Firefox.
Though, the issue may not even be related with video playback. I have read in the forums (like here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1432706) that other people are facing this issue as well, and worked around it by not using Firefox as the default browser. I have not tried it but, even if it works, this is not at all convenient. Other posts on reddit that verify the same issue I am having: https://www.reddit.com/r/pixel_phones/comments/18xh7w3/why_is_firefox_using_all_this_battery_i_havent/ https://www.reddit.com/r/zenfone/comments/18zlow0/since_android_14_video_seems_to_be_the_top/ https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/174d13d/firefox_excessive_battery_usage_on_android/
I do not wish to switch to chromium based browsers. Please take a look at the issue and let me know. Thanks a lot.

Hi - after deleting then reinstalling Firefox on my ipad I found that all my bookmarks had disappeared. I’ve tried re-syncing bookmarks to no avail, and tried to follow instructions to find my profile (‘about:profiles’, enter) but just reverts back to the same page so can’t progress, tried settings/troubleshooting but no sign of my profile folder let alone ‘Application Basics’. Are my bookmarks permanently gone? Any advice would be much appreciated (I should say I’m not the most computer literate so very probably there’s something I’m not doing right!) - many thanks, Cheryl.

When I make a PDF of a web page with Firefox and then just press "view", the pdf viewer says the file doesn't exist, even though it was saved correctly to the Download folder. Choosing Firefox itself as pdf viewer, I could determine that the viewer gets a file link like this:
content://org.mozilla.firefox.feature.downloads.fileprovider/Download/Download/Kanaren-Wetter%3A%20Sturm-Warnung%20zum%20Wochenende%20ausgegeben.pdf
Which appears to point not to the real Download folder, but perhaps to Firefox' subfolder in the Android/Data folder? The same link is given in any other OS, and normally it always works. Could it have to do with the fact that in LineasgeOS 20 (and quite surely also stock android 13) the Android folder is write protected ?
With some web pages, Firefox provides different links, like: content://media/external_primary/downloads/1000009015 and with those there's no problem. So I think may really be an issue with directory access.
I fiddled around a lot with OS settings and Firefox beta's about:config as well, but to no avail. Also de- and reinstalled Firefox.
Any idea what could be the cause ?

In Samsung Galaxy M23 5G smartphone (SM-M236B/DS) with Android 14 and Firefox 123.1.0 when I go to https://translate.google.com and insert a phrase, for example "I want a table" (you can try any words you want, single word or phrase) I hear the words distorted. This is happening after about 3 or 4 times or more tries when I hit the little speaker icon and waiting to finish the vocal pronunciation each time. I can't remember if this happened in earlier versions of Firefox for Android. I installed most of known browsers for Android (Opera, Edge, Vivaldi, Brave) and none has this problem, even the Samsung browser. I installed other versions of Firefox for Android (Focus, Beta for testers, Nightly for Developers) and all of them have the same problem. Also, I uninstalled and installed the original Firefox and I did restart of smartphone and also I connected bluetooth headphones but same problem. Maybe you will not hear the distortion in that smartphone above and android 14 combination with the first try but you will hear it in next tries. I don't know if this is happening in other Samsung SMARTPHONES. This problem is NOT happening in tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 4G And here is the audio sample. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10pWKAtJIDfgjgv3ELQisCj_qcOqtf3qF/view?usp=sharing
