After MickeySoft's Patch Tuesday today, I found that KB5010342 prevents Firefox from running. I'm running Win10 Pro with FF 97.0 64-bit and with this patch installed, FF opens with a blank screen and no DNS lookup or anything. Other browsers like Chrome or Edge load and work without issue. After manually uninstalling this patch, Firefox again works like it should.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I use Facebook for many years. Last time used it was 12 hours ago. Then, 1 hour ago, Firefox did not start, all I was able to do was to exit (option inside a small Firefox Problem Window).

I downloaded the installation files, and re-installed Firefox. It started with the two Firefox Start Pages. But I expected to see all my tabs and browsing history and plugins.

So I copied the files from my previous profile into the folder of the newly created profile after I deleted the new profile files. But now, when starting Firefox, I get again a small window with the option to create again a new empty profile or just to exit. It says I would use an "older" version of Firefox and this could destroy my profile.

What must I do to get back all my tabs and plugins and all that?

Every time I do a Google search the link that appears in the address bar includes garbage text (see image). For example, if I search for "sustainability", the address bar shows me this url: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=sustainability ; however, I would like it to only show me something like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=sustainability

What can i do?

Thanks for the answers

Mozilla Firefox browser lists up-to-date incorrectly

I have a question about the Firefox browser that came installed by default with my enterprise set-up. I usually browse on Chrome, but my user also has a 'Mozilla Firefox' browser installed. When I opened it today, I found that it is somewhat out of date. Aside from buggy tab formatting, the biggest indication is an invalid certificate warning for many sites including Wikipedia and the Mozilla support website.

As shown in the attached screenshots, Firefox version 34.0.5 is running, and it considers itself up to date. I subsequently installed the default version of Firefox for Windows 10 (apparently 97.0), but it did not update the previous Firefox browser, which is still accessible under 'Mozilla Firefox,' whereas I am writing this ticket in the current browser, called 'Firefox.'

I think this question should be very low priority, but I am wondering why the browser thinks it is up to date. According to the current documentation, the only internal path to updates seems to be a 'Help' > 'About Firefox' > (Firefox initiates automatic update) sequence, but that isn't working for the older browser version. It feels like updating to the newest version should be possible from within the outdated Firefox, rather than doing what I did and installing another instance on my machine.

Hello, when firefox shows my "recent" history of websites I visited, how many days back does this "recent" history account for? Example, I visit a website 3 weeks ago, would it still be listed under "recent"? Or is "recent" only websites I visited in the last day or two? Is there a time frame? Thank you.

when I start up Firefox on Macbook Pro, Version 10.12.6, Firefox does not cover entire screen; it leaves 1 1/2 inches on right and on the bottom still showing the blue background of the Mac's home page. How do I make Firefox cover the entire screen?

When I enter a Password, I'm offered the choice of Save PW, Never Save PW. If I click on Never Save, the next time I enter this password, I must again click on Never Save.

the v97 update tossed out 7 of 10 windows with multiple tabs and i hadn't actually saved the bookmarks for all those tabs into folders based on the pages for quite some time because...

every time this has happened in the past i've reverted to the old session by deleting the recovery.jsonlz4 and recovery.baklz4 in the profiles\#######\sessionstore-backups folder and copying my conveniently or not so conveniently save backups of the two files into the folder and restarting and shaazaam everything is there - the way it should be but maybe a few days or at worst back to last friday's full sys backup...
however, this time it's not working at all like it used to - it's more like the fox killed my hen in the hallway with the sledge-hammer and took out the floor at the same time....

so, i was successful saving bookmark folders of the pages after going into about:profiles creating a new profile and shoving the sessionstore-backups folder with the appropriate recover. . files into it and launching in a new browser window... the more odder (yes) thing now is that in this profile when i click open previous windows and tabs in settings to have the recovery files built they're now double the size they were - keep in mind the startup of the newly upgraded browser only had 3 of 7 windows kept from the pre-v97 upgrade at 11am (because of a restart) and far far far fewer tabs in total....

anyway, i'ld like to downgrade to 96 and see if i can get my stuff all back together easily but after reading a downgrade page and then looking at the download folders i can't find an install.exe file for versions of 96 because i probably don't know in which of the myriad of folder to look... so i should at least get a briefer on that for future or current use...

short of downgrading is there some way to force my 97 profile to eat my 96 or 95 recovery files and spit out my intact session that got pretty much wiped out ?

at this point i have to re-create my profile in this new one, in which, i can get the old session from last friday to load... by re-doing the add-ins... colors... coin wallets... all kinds of crap... it's amazing how dependent i've become on something like this - you folks really should charge for it....

Suddenly, I am getting a faint box outline on the bottom right of my browser screen. This is not like the box for blocked ads, but just grey lines which look like there was supposed to be a three dimensional box shown there. The box does nothing and text and pictures show through it, though it does make things a bit hard to read at times. If I resize the window so that it is not full screen, only part of the box appears. It does not appear in other apps or programs. I have tried several different settings changes and refreshed Firefox, but the problem persists. I am running Windows 11, with an NVidea GeForce GTX 1080 video card.

Any suggestions, anyone? Thanks.
