Hi,

I'm a long time thunderbird user, recently I migrated my installation to a new PC and found that the global search does not work past January 2023 for my emails.

At first I thought this was due to my migration from my old PC. So I attempted to uninstall TB, reinstall and import the profile again fresh. This didnt work. Frustrating! However I went back to my old PC and entered a search term that should come up LONG past 2023 and yet even in my old installation the search halts at 2023. Now I am confused as to why?

Prior it has always worked on the older PC with no issues at all.

I really REALLY need to fix this issue, as it is necessary to use for my work, in order to reference on-going projects and work with customers.

I've included images of searching for a search term that should be found in many of the older folders, but not searching actively in those folders. I've also included an image of the older folder emails including the search term as being present.

Please your help is appreciated!

Getting error 104 with or with out attachments. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no change. This started after changing our domain provider. Doesn't happen every time but I can never get through the day without the error. Once it errors, I can't send any emails. Closing and restarting the program doesn't help. Don't seem to have any trouble receiving. I have received emails in the same session that sending failed. Any suggestions?

TB v115.8.0 (64-bit) Closed the app and went to dinner Came back and opened the app. All the tasks are GONE!!!

I know TB keeps everything in text files, so I found the "calendar-data" folder and opened some files using NOTEPAD.EXE to find keywords I know represent my tasks. Sure enough, the data is there in the sqlite files.

What's the secret code that simply decides to not open those files and populate my task window?

The more mails are in a thunderbird folder like "Inbox", the more the computer has to work to administer them. Wouln't it be advantageous to keep all mails as individual eml-Files within the operating system which need hardly to be changed once saved. Only index entries in a database like the current global-messages-db.sqlite might have to be updated more often. Furthermore, this saving mode could easier provide the possibility of opening the same email collection in a network from dfferent terminals concurrently, given that the index database be network-compatible.

I have recently started using Thunderbird 52.0.1. I use Thunderbird for two accounts, both Outlook, one through my school's 365 and one just outlook.com. The school account works well, the outlook.com account does not. I repeatedly get error messages as indicated in the attached screenshot.

Things I have tried: creating exclusions for my profiles (no effect); starting in Thunderbird safe mode (no change); using with or without my VPN (expressvpn) on (no change); repairing inbox.msf file (no improvement); compacting folder (no effect); changing the size of the cache (no effect); decreasing the size of INBOX file that is kept locally (no change); re-entering my password as I am sometimes prompted to do (no change); changing how often mail is checked, anywhere from 1 minute to ten minutes (no effect).

I am running outlook imap (imap-mail.outlook.com; port 993; SSL/TLS; normal password).

It does occasionally work, but for seemingly no reason. I'm not a computer person so I don't doubt that I'm missing something, I'm just trying my best.

Since updating TB to 115.8 I have been getting this "unable to write email to the mailbox" error on one specific POP3 account. The account starts the download process, runs through perhaps a dozen or so mails, before getting stuck on (by the looks of the status bar) one particular email being filtered into a folder) and then crashing out. I have tried thus far, by means of elimination

1: Only one specific POP3 account is affected, others using the same domain are fine. 2: Plenty of spare space on the HDD, no permission issues 3: Copied the mailbox store to a new location and updated TB to use that location - no change. 4: Repaired the inbox and a few sample subfolders. 5: Created subfolders of a few sample folders with no emails in, and amended filters accordingly - so new mails are being filtered to a virgin file. 6: Disabled all filters, created a new blank inbox subfolder and directed everything in the download, into that - same problem.

I'm confident that all file permission, storage space & corrupt mailbox possibilities, have been eliminated and this is a TB bug. Some further observations...

I access the affected mailbox via IMAP from a mobile device, before treating TB (using POP3) as the master storage. TB then has a rolling 90day delete as part of the POP3 config, so it should only download anything new since the last synch, but maintain a 90day history. All synch attempts now, are downloading mails from mid-November and thus creating duplicates - I have manually logged into the domain mailbox and intentionally deleted the oldest 50 mails, as a test. All that happens is that the problem is shifted 50 mails up the list.. TB seems to have forgotten what is actually a new mail.

If I was able to revert TB to the previous version, I would - and am still tempted to research the mechanics of doing this.

How can I get Thunderbird to store all emails on my local laptop, in addition to leaving them on the google gmail on the google server, instead of only storing headers and having to go back to gmail. If I want to open an email thunderbird will often take considerable time to download the email (again) in order for me to read it. This takes considerable time, and Thunderbird is busy waiting....so I can't do anything else in the meantime. Thanks, Rick

I have a number of emails from a totally trusted source (UK customer services at John Lewis) that cause Thunderbird to hang with the "Printing - Progress: Preparing" box showing when I try to print them. This then becomes "Printing (Not Responding)" after a while. I have to shut it down and restart TB. Thunderbird itself has no problem displaying the emails on the screen, but since they are receipts / invoices / order acknowledgements, this is one of the rare times I need hard copy for my records. Restarting in safe mode has no effect. They typically appear to have 3 large blocks of code and nothing much else, apart from the headers. A typical block starts :-

It would appear that John Lewis encode all their financial type emails in this fashion. The emails are relatively large, 33 & 66Kb, with images when viewed on the screen. I would append the whole of one of them to this post, but since they contain sensitive information I am loath to do so.

I'm running Thunderbird 52.1.1 (32-bit) on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
