Have tried so many times to transfer from old laptop to new laptop, never works. Have watch the youtube videos and followed this. Can not get it to work. Just want the emails from the old to the new laptop Thank you

Method using a transfer device On your source computer Connect a device for data transfer, either a local one such as a USB flash drive, or a remote storage drive. Click the menu button Fx57Menu, then click Help and select Troubleshooting Information. Locate the "Profile Folder" entry, then click Open Folder. Your Thunderbird profile folder will open in Windows Explorer. Close Thunderbird. From your Thunderbird profile folder in Windows Explorer, go up three levels. Right-click on the Thunderbird folder and select Copy. Right-click the device you are using to transfer your data, then select Paste. If you are using a local transfer device, remove it safely from the source computer. Note: This steps can also be used to create a backup of your Thunderbird profile folder.

On your destination computer Connect the same transfer device you have used before to copy your Thunderbird profile folder from the source computer. Right-click on the copy of the Thunderbird profile folder that you created on the transfer device, then select Copy. Open Thunderbird (Close the account setup window if it appears.) Click the menu button Fx57Menu, then click Help and select Troubleshooting Information. Locate the "Profile Folder" entry, then click Open Folder. Your Thunderbird profile folder will open in Windows Explorer. Close Thunderbird. From your Thunderbird profile folder in Windows Explorer, go up three levels. Right-click inside the folder, then select Paste. When prompted, choose to replace your current data.

Have two email accounts: Outlook and Gmail. They check and pull mail off the servers independently. I would prefer to only have to look in ONE account for my mail. I have chosen Outlook. I am having problems getting Thunderbird to push the emails in my Gmail folders to the corresponding Outlook folders. Is that because it can't be done? In settings for GMail account, under Copies and folders, I push: Sent messages > Sent on d*******1@outlook.com Archives folder > Archive on d*******1@outlook.com Drafts > Drafts folder on d*******1@outlook.com but they don't seem to be going there.

Is there a way to move messages in GMail TRASH to Outlook DELETED? As you can see, I'm not very aquainted with these things and am pretty confused. Any help appreciated.

I just opened my Thunderbird e-mail account, did thunderbid only access emails from my sbcglobal account email account or did TB download the the 100,000+ SBCglobal emails to a thunderbird file that I can continure to access?. I believe that AT&T is going to delete my sbcglobal email account as I have canceled my AT&T internet service. I see sbcglobal messages in thunderbird that go back to 2008 that I would like to read again. Will these messages disapper when AT&T disables the SBCglobal email account.

Thunderbird Local folder migration

Hello All and Happy Holidays,

I work at an IT repair shop and am having the most difficult time attempting to migrate Thunderbird data from a customer's old PC to a new PC. I followed the steps of copying/pasting the data, and it mostly works. The primary issue is that it did not bring over all the local folders that he had saved apart from his IMAP account. The customer is an ex computer science professor and is going blind, so a lot of his relevant information is organized within these folders. Key issues that have made this different from a typical install: -Profile & Local folders are stored in his old OS drive (that is now D:) D:/~/user/appdata/roaming/Thunderbird/~ -files are more than 2GB, so I'm unable to export as .zip -His folders are alphabetical, and every time stops at a particularly larger folder that starts with a D (which had considerably more folders than many others)

The only solution I have come up with is copying/uploading the local folders to his IMAP email, but not all emails are being uploaded either. However, has been more successful than the other migration method, but this has to be done a single folder at a time and not all contents of folder are transferred...

Is there some type of script or other way to migrate these local folders?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

I just bought a new computer. I would like to move my emails from my old computer to my new computer. I downloaded Thunderbird and I tried setting up my emails on my new computer, but it only took the emails that were in my in box on my 'server.' I also had subfolders in my inbox with emails in them, and none of the subfolders or emails in the subfolders moved over.

My email provider is Shaw, and my old computer I used the pop 3 format. On the new computer I'm using the IMAP format.

I have just watched the video on the support page - Move Thunderbird data to a new computer. I don't know if this is something I should do....is it my only choice....or is there something you can suggest.

I gave up on Outlook after a zillion years using it. When I reset my O/S (win11) I had to reinstall Outlook from Office, all paid up and legal. Nothing but problems trying to get my backed up PST file from previous Outlook. System kept trying to get me to subscribe to Windows 365 crap. I had standalone 2024 version of office. When I installed Thunderbird (I have it on laptops and other computers), I entered my email and voila, in about 1 minute I was sending and receiving emails. I had spent 6 hours on Outlook, even using AI (Copilot) to help me. I was SO IMPRESSED, that for once I donated to Thunderbird, $30 CAD.

Now, I used Mailstore to get my pst file, something I could NOT GET OUTLOOK to do, and have it available to export to Thunderbird, or for TBird to IMPORT from the pst. Neither one worked, telling me that TBird didn't have a profile for the transfer, or some such notation.

Any help would be appreciated. Like many of you, my whole communication life is in those emails (I have about 40 folders where I saved stuff).

I am importing all of my thunderbird data from an installation on an old laptop to a new thunderbird installation on a new laptop. I used the export tool on the old machine and the import tool on the new machine and every installation option fails. On the old machine I have tried copying the files and folder to the new machine and it fails, I have created a zip file (5MB) on the old machine and copied to the new machine and it fails (Not using the Zip tool that is limited to 2MB). I think I have tried every combination. The new installation is able to send and receive messages.

I recently upgraded my older PC from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Thunderbird worked fine for a few days following the upgrade, but when I went into it today, all the local folders were gone. 4GB worth of e-mails. Good thing I backed up four days ago, so I haven't lost much.

I have searched through the help given earlier for a similar problem, but can't seem to still get Thunderbird to work properly. Furthermore, Thunderbird won't import the backed-up data. I also can't get the menu bar to show along the top. What all am I doing wrong?

Just out of the blue I found my local folders emails missing or I should say I wanted to put them back where I had them. It appears one drive had been messing with them. I had them in a folder on my desktop so I know they got backed up when I did a manual backup with an image using ms backup tool. I do not want to use one drive but it appears TB gets an error when I think I am pointing to the correct folder. How do I undo one drive and put my folders back? Unfortunately I do not have a recent image that have emails in them that are recent and want to save. I also had local outlook pst files on my local drive TB folder Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

We would like to inquire about the cost and process for backing up emails from an old inbox that is scheduled to expire on the 19th. This is an urgent matter, as it’s critical that all messages—including both inbox and sent items—are fully backed up before the expiration date.

We would appreciate your guidance as soon as possible so we can proceed without delay.

Thank you in advance.
