I hate it. Updates are activated, because I want to get security updates. Nobody asked for a new design. What for? It's ugly useless. And 99% of your users will think as I do. So, what for?

I have been using Thunderbird for approx. 20 years. Most likely longer. But this is it. I hate it now.

And as I am doing this, I will also leave Firefox.

Bye.

PS: Nobody will miss me. I know.

I urgently need someone to help me.

I must have selected an option to automatically update or keep Thunderbird current. In my haste, I installed the application.

Now, the application opens but none of my prior emails are there. All I see is a window that offers the options to add a contact or join a chat. I tried selecting settings and accounts, but nothing comes up.

I am running a 2015 Macbook Pro with OS 12.7 and 16GB of ram and plenty of SSD space.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to install a prior version of Thunderbird and recover my data?

Thank you, so much, for your help!

I am trying to create a copy of my Gmail account in Thunderbird so I can free up Gmail space. I have downloaded a copy of my current Gmail with itsTakeout service. When I try to import it with the ImportExportTools NG plugin in Thunderbird I get the error shown in the attached image: MBOX larger than 4GB, skipping

Do you know how to fix it? I have not been able to find the 4GB limitation referred to in this message or to export smaller files from Gmail.

OS: Ubuntu 20.04 Thunderbird: 115.3.1(64 bit) I reported a bug in the new updated version of Thunderbird. One of the troubleshooting steps was to install and test the latest beta version (119), which I did. When I went back to version 115, all my emails before that time were gone. I looked in every folder in Thunderbird available and they were nowhere to be found. I logged into the webmail service for this account and it showed the same result. I do nightly backups and copied my profile folder from backup to my local profile folder. When I start Thunderbird it shows all of emails from before the time I tested version 119. But once it syncs with the IMAP server the mailbox reverts to what is on the IMAP server. How can I import what I have in my backup to the IMAP server? My host is Rackspace Email.

When I start FF I get a Windows popup requiring an admin username and pw to run Firefox Updater. I'm in a corporate environment and users don't have admin rights (which is standard for any company doing reasonable security). I checked the properties on firefox.exe and updater.exe and neither requires admin or is set to run in compatibility mode. Chrome and Edge update without an admin requirement.

I’m running Windows 10 on a desktop. Thunderbird upgraded my program to 115.3.1 (32-bit) When it runs now it shows all of my old folders and the address book entries are there and incoming email notifications briefly pop up, but when I click on the popup, nothing happens. But all of the folders are empty. I experience the same thing on another PC. Any suggestions? I’ve seen this question on this forum before, but I have not see a suggested solution that works for me. Thanks for y’all’s consideration.

I thought I could continue to "unify" multiple email folders by dragging folders from one inbox to the unified area on top. My goal was to have one set of working folders at the top that I could organize emails.

Seems that managing folders in the Unified "all mail" area is not a good idea and I was seeing strange dupliate emails so I decided to move them back. After my first batch of folders were moved, I proceeded to start moving them back down to the original inbox.

They are hanging at the moment, in process of moving but I'm seeing all sorts of odd behavior especially in the original gmail account. See visuals.

The original Gmail account is also a combined inbox using the same emails. I think this must be a big mistake and could cause weird duplication as well.

Big, big tangled up mess. I feel like I want to start over completely - yikes!

Advice on how to best get out of this mess?

I set up my new email using the TB new email account wizard, which completed successfully. I can receive but not send. I've searched/tried for a while now and no recommendations are working. And I've restarted TB, to no avail.

The TB setup wizard came up with these settings:

IMAP: Mailserver: outlook.office365.com Port: 993 User Name: mycomplete@email.com (not really) Connection Security: SSL/TLS Auth Method: OAuth2

SMTP: Mailserver: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication method: OAuth2 User Name: mycomplete@email.com (not really)

When I try to send, after a long pause I get "Login to server smtp.office365.com with username X@y.com failed." with the options Retry, Enter New Password and Cancel. When I select 'New Password', I'm never presented with a dialog box for my password. I just get the long pause and "Login to server smtp.office365.com with username X@y.com failed." again.

I did a dumb thing. I transferred my TB (v 115.3.1 64) Profiles folder to OneDrive because I couldn't find a way to automatically back it up. However I wasn't able to make TB work so I transferred it back into Appdata\Roaming\Thunderbird. Now when I open TB, it has an old folder structure and emails up to 2020 but nothing beyond in any folder. The default profile is big, 25 GB or so. The setup is fine as it connects to my ISP and downloads current emails and those stored on the server. How can I recover the recent profile?
