I have high hopes for Fennec, but right now I stick to MicroB, even though I miss my Weave bookmarks, tabs, etc madly. Why?

Usability:

1. The zoom gesture is awesome. Please copy!

2. Zooming using volume buttons is awesome as well (iaaw). Please copy!

3. The way to get a pointer to hoer over stuff or select text iaaw. Please copy!

Speed:

MicroB is fast. Sorry to say this but Fennec - even RC1 - is sluggish. Reacting slowly and loading pages slowly. This is a common complaint and something must really be done.

I'm using a Nokia N810. Firefox for mobile does not allow to select text in an HTML for TEXTARRAY, or even to place the cursor. This is a real showstopper for me. I use another browser right now to edit this post! Additionally, the automatic zooming when I try to edit a form field is distracting and of no use on a device with sufficient screen resolution.

Please tell me how to use text editing, or how to switch these annoying features off in about:config

The browser is very fast, I would really like to use it.

So I installed the Firefox on my Nokia N900. It looks great but I found it to be slower than the default browser MicroB.

- Any ideas how to make it faster? (or maybe there is some new build on way) - Is it possible to have the top bar drop when i click on it (since it scrolls with the page). (addon maybe)

Location-Aware browsing sounds like it would be really useful for me, but either I can't figure out how to get it activated, or there aren't any commonly used websites that make use of that feature. In the FAQ, the Firefox team mentions going into your Tools section to make some adjustments, but I can't find any such Tools section, and the Preference section, which I assume you must be referring to, doesn't offer any options like that.

I've been consistently using the Maemo default browser but decided to try FF again after the recent update. I love the Weave integration, and besides being a die-hard ff user, i like being able to have my bookmarks, tabs, passwords, and history synced, as well as having spell check support.

My issue is that ff is so slow on my phone it is nearly unusable. Startup time is usually 15 seconds minimum, and scrolling, or even side screening to get to tabs, or options takes forever, or i have to just stop and wait for 20 seconds until things "catch up" and even then they're still slow. Is there something I'm doing wrong or something I can do to speed things up??

Thanks!

The default Nokia N900 MicroB browser permits display settings of either 'small, medium or large' text for the browser. A similar/identical sticky option to scale text size for the firefox browser would improve flexibility and readability without having to constantly manually zoom every page rendered. This is a reason for not fully adopting use of the Firefox mobile browser just yet, so hope this issue is addressed in a forthcoming update!

The current use of the term "zoom" in the mobile web browser is different than the the use of zoom in desktop Firefox, something which I think is both confusing and unfortunate.

The zoom in Firefox mobile is defining a "view-port" into a preflown page and does not reflow the page. Zooming in desktop Firefox on the other hand is changing the font size and is triggering a reflow of the page. Moreover, in contrast to the desktop Firefox zooming, there is no stickyness of the zoom factor so that when moving to a new web page you have to redo the zoom.

Consider e.g. a visit to Wikipedia. The initial view, with the initial font size is nearly illegible to me. So I can zoom by clicking the text body, but I still think the font is too small. So I zoom further by pressing Ctrl-Up. But now I no longer see the entire line without doing horizontal scrolling.

This could e.g. be solved in two ways:

1. Add a method for zooming the font size. E.g. in the right margin bar add buttons (+) and (-) or add some short cuts.

2. Add a shortcut for "reflow to current displayed window width". In which case the current zoom factor would be kept but the rendering margin would be changed.
