I have an email message describing issues with an installation to send to the installer. It has eleven attachments. It's saved in the Drafts folder. Obviously it's too large to send in this state so I've investigated what services are available. I used WeTransfer in the past but this seems to limit the message size. I installed FileLink using the default service. The message now has a Thunderbird Send button on the menu bar (next to the Attach button) but clicking it does nothing. I don't want to use the Attach button though since all the files are already attached. Clicked Send and saw the usual warnings about the message size being way too large for the server. Wondered how FileLink will work. Read the FileLink help again and decided to detach everything and attach them again using Attach > FileLink > Thunderbird Send. I navigate to the folder of interest and select the first group of four photos. A panel is displayed for one of files containing Info, Options and Donate buttons, with Download limit and Time limit drop-down lists. Two "Make sure it is less than ..." statements point me to the Send service provider. I don't know how to get there though so I populate with numbers, which turn out to be too high when I click encrypt and upload, and an error box is shown. 1 download and 3 days seems to work. Sending this message on a Friday is probably not the best idea as nothing is expected to happen before Monday and 3 days is too tight. I could be resending the message next week. I add the next batch of files and another panel pops up for one of them, and I duly respond. Presumably the others are ok? Attachments at the bottom of the message window have 'working' roundels by them so I put the laptop on one side to let them do their thing while I sip my tea. Refreshments over and back to TB. Still in progress but while changing between windows I notice more panels are lurking, one for each attachment, which was unexpected. Making the same choices for each attachment is a bind (excuse the pun). Nine files are uploaded and two smaller screenshots remain as regular attachments. I check over the download URLs embedded in the message. I modify the message content accordingly and send it.

I would value step-by-step instructions for this process. It's one that I do infrequently so I can't remember what I did before! Must be my age.

Any suggestions gratefully received. The workflow above may be incomplete but it's what I recall.

I have installed TB on a new device and want to set up my mail accounts with only the last 3 months mail for each one.

I understand the IMAP account settings for "Synchronization & Storage" & "Disk Space" where indeed you can set the download by size or time.

The problem is that those settings are only accessible once the mail account is set up.

The mail account set up itself initiates the download of all mail from the server the instant the account is set up which is then not adjustable until after that initial download is complete.

i.e. there appears to be no way to stop the entire mailbox from the server being downloaded.

Does anyone know a way to time limit that initial download or indeed prevent any initial download until the account settings can be used to do so?

I want to use Thunderbird to back up all emails from our small business and I'm terrified of losing any. I believe the right way to go about it is to install Thunderbird, set up all email accounts as POP3 and make sure not deleted from server. But, I see that I have to set up my email before ensuring I don't delete off the server and, thus, the terror at setting up and then somehow missing the critical setting that doesn't delete off the server and pulling everything off the server into my backup.

Questions: 1) Is this the right way to back up (POP3)? 2) Is there a global default to never delete off the server? 3) For account specific, is there anything I can do to mitigate this? I'm ok doing this command-line too if there's a way to ensure the setting isn't 'missed'. 3) Is there a recommended flow for backing up email and then saving to S3 (might you consider adding this as a feature? Seems like many people would want this?)

Hi, I read through another thread where someone was having this same issue and there was no resolve because no one seemed to understand the issue. My issue is that I can't clear the "Save Files to" setting under "Files and Applications\Downloads" and leave it at "Always Ask". What I wind up with is a lot of clutter in my Downloads folder. So my question is, How do I correct this setting so FireFox stops saving files in places that I don't want them saved?

I have seen lots of questions with the opposite tack. If there is already an answer here, I apologize for not finding it and asking again.

I support a small business. The main email address is office@<mydomain>.com. Three of us monitor that account, on three separate computers. We have always struggled with not knowing if one of the others already responded to an email or not. This has led to us either spamming the person submitting the inquiry, or all of us "ignoring" it by assuming someone else responded.

Is there a way for Thunderbird to monitor and indicate if the email was replied to on any of the systems, not just the one we're sitting in front of? We own the domain and host our email server through inmotion hosting, which gives us lots of control if something needs to be configured server-side.

I took a video on a Google Pixel 7 mobile. It plays back on the Android cell properly. I can log into my Google Photos via my Windows 10 PC and the video will play back properly. I also downloaded the video file (MP4) to be saved directly in my Videos folder on my Windows 10 PC. When I try to play the video by clicking / opening the downloaded file on my PC I get an error message. See that message attached. It is prompting me to "download a new codec". Why? In my Firefox browser I currently have the Open H264 Video Codec by Cisco plugin enabled. Why is the Cisco plugin not sufficient? Is the Cisco plugin being updated? Does Firefox browser need to be updated? Is Is Firefox working on a fix?

Beginner or Luddite Question - I am seeking something like outlook, but NOT OUTLOOK. I lost so many contacts, connections, data and usability from that POS. Let's be clear. I am seeking something that will support the following: -having multiple email addresses for multiple businesses and organizations all in one place. - the ability to have individual signature boxes for each email address supported (as many as 12) - Something that won't crash on me and F*** up everything -I don't care if I have to pay, I want everything in one place easy to utilize. - I want a third-party VA to be able to get in under a common sign in and work under my name

Can Thunderbird do all this and more without having to hire a $500 per hour techie? If someone is for hire, how much is the charge?

In Chrome I was able to have a home page as well as a first-up page. So, for my first-up page, I had Proton Mail for my email. Then, for my home page I had the New York Times. I'd like to be able to do the same here with Firefox, if possible.

Thanks.

Since version 115.3.1 (64-bit) to present version 115.5.0 for Linux Mint (using Vertical View and Favorite Folders' 'only), the Compact Folder View is no longer compact at all. Each folder also includes my email address on each line making it take up 3x the space now. I can turn off the Compact View to actually get a more compact view, but this standard view shows a box with my email address above the folders, plus the folder tree. It was so clean looking before.

Is there no way to put the Menu Bar up top anymore? The very top bar is the customizable bar instead. It should be the other way around.

Most annoying is with the calendar when I put in an appointment or reservation for a future date, if I move timezones (I travel a lot), it changes the time with each timezone I pass through. For instance, if I make an appt for 11 am, it should be local time regardless of location. When I change timezones as I get closer to my appt location, it changes my appt to 12 noon, etc., potentially causing me to be late.

message pane field order makes identifying who received a message hard to see

For a long time, I've used the inbox to also receive the outgoing messages, in order to assist with threading of messages that end up creating a thread with multiple messages, but I am finding an issue going forward with the newer version, which is that a stand alone sent message shows my sending mail address, and the subject, which makes it hard to identify who the message was sent to in the list of messages, particularly if the same message is sent to several recipients, but not using the facility to have multiple addresses in the send header, which usually is because there are different attachments sent to different recipients.

I do this by using BCC to my own address, and this does two things, it gives me a confirmation that the ISP mail server was able to process the message, and it helps with managing threads that can become lengthy

I have been looking for a way to edit the order of the fields in the header pane, but can't find a way to do it, so that I could put the recipient mail above the sender mail, but even if I could do that, I can't be sure if the display of the data would then give me the recipient in a visble format.

Is there a way round this, or will it require changes to the package to make it possible?

Thanks

Steve
