I've been trying out Thunderbird and Spark for the past few weeks, and decided to go with Thunderbird to replace Windows Mail. After uninstalling Spark, I changed all my email passwords, and now Thunderbird can't connect. I deleted my Google and Xfinity email accounts from Thunderbird, then closed and reopened the program, but I'm still getting this error from Google when I fill in the credential info it automatically asks for when re-adding it to my account:

"400. That’s an error.

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know."

On the "set up your existing email address" page in Thunderbird, I'm getting this error (see image), even though the copy/pasted password works fine when logging directly into Google.

I also can't reconnect to Xfinity at all. The 3rd party box is checked in their system, but when Thunderbird tries to connect, it looks like it's auto-filling and submitting a password on my behalf, without stopping on that screen so I can change it.

What am I missing?

I accidentally started the upgrade to 115 and aborted it. The "What's New in Thunderbird 115" now pops up every time I run the "old" version (102.15.1). It is my practice to close all running apps at night before I have the computer go to sleep mode. Consequently I have this message starting my default browser every time I restart TB. It has become annoying. There must be something I can do to stop this. I looked in all the appdata directories but couldn't find anything obvious. I also looked in the update directory but nothing obvious to me there either. Can you provide a fix for this?

I have not upgraded to 115 because too many people are having problems of one sort or another. I do not want to search for help to patch problems resulting from the upgrade process. When problems settle down a bit more, maybe then.

I've recently started migrating to Thunderbird after relying on Gmail's web client for a long time, and an issue I'm running into is that it's missing a bunch of contacts after syncing, including all contacts with my own name. This is a practical issue as I send email to myself a lot, both between my accounts and to the same account as a form of task management.

I have a primary contact entry representing my @gmail.com address itself, which also has a couple other personal non-gmail addresses merged into it, as well as about half a dozen contacts created for my addresses at former employers, university accounts, etc. Not a single one of them has synced, and they don't seem to have anything in common other than bearing my name. Contacts for other people sharing my forename also don't seem to have synced, and neither has as a contact representing another former work email that wasn't named, but included my name in the address itself.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why these would all be skipped. They don't seem to have any other special characteristic. I haven't, thus far, found other contacts not synced, but with over 200 entries on the list, I might well have missed them.

Last week, sometime, I received ALL the emails, that have come into my "mailbox", from about the time I purchased my latest computer, several years ago. There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of the little critters. All arranged alphabetically, starting with the letter "a". So far, the ONLY solution I've found from "Thunderbird Help", is to 1. Open inbox 2. Select [left click] one of the repeated emails. 3. This high lights the email in BLUE. 4. Select BOTH "CONTROL & A" KEYS at the same time. 5. This highlights the WHOLE PRESENT page of emails in BLUE. 6. The instructions then say to press the "DELETE" key. 7. Question is- IF I PRESS THE "DELETE" key, will that just delete the emails on this page, OR delete EVERY email in my entire "inbox"? The only OTHER remedy I've tried, is to send the unwanted emails, ONE at a time, to the "TRASH" folder, then empty the "TRASH" folder, when I get 10-15 emails in it. That could take a VERY long time. 1st, I'm old, cant code, tho wish I cld, so am naive and tho being online for over 20 years, just dont get any tech etc on how any of it works (damn it).

My issue, is th incompatibility across 1st O/S's, due to competition but mainly bcoz of the lack of ethics inherant in capitalism.

As my meme has; "cRapitalism - guaranteed to make a$$holes of otherwise good folks!"

But, "that's evolution fo' yo'!

Point is, th web is still a baby, so has a way to go b4 it, thus all operators and users, "evolve" to agreed bases, O/S's, layout standards for all the sites, platforms, apps, etc.

Eg1; Social media platforms? All in their own anazing ways, are fabulous.

But (yeah, an "old Luddite's" problem) skipping from 1 to another, and another, each w its great but own layout, is longterm, long-game, all up v innefficient.

So, IMCO, there needs ASAP to be a meet of both developers AND govt specialists, to begin a project to design GLOBALLY-acceptable layouts etc, for maximum user-friendliness, and other vital factors in sites' designs.

I write this on my phone, bcoz sPOOks have hackrashed every lap and desk top computer, bcoz of my REALPolitiks, so that'll do from me.

Sayin', "sameness" of all parts for online use, like the accepted "QWERTY" keyboard layout, as with Post Offices, I guess, all requiring postage stamps in the dame corner of envelopes, globally, etc, baby internet needs to gwow upsies, above the usually excellent egotrips of each web layout etc., to maximize humanity's communications systems.

I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on this.... I'm using the very latest version of Firefox 124.0.2 (64bit) And recently having a problem when video chatting on facebook when chatting I can't see the "Cam" Icon to call up. Yet on Crome all is good.

Any help?

Hi, I use thunderbird ver. 115.9.0 on Garuda Linux Gnome (Arch based distro). From some time I noticed I cannot copy in app. I cannot copy text from messeges or copy text from popup window with thunderbird version. I try to change theme but it don'y help.

I'm with BT and recently changed my password with them. Presumably as a direct result I can still receive emails through Thunderbird but can't send them (though both work fine if I use BT's own web service).

Initially I was getting 'timed out' responses but I've been running through some of the previously suggested fixes and am now at the point where I'm trying to enter the password (to login to BT server) and it's not being recognised.

All of the primary account settings seem okay, so I'm running out of ideas that aren't beyond my limited level! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whenever I use Firefox the UI image elements will become oversized making everything squished. I have provided pictures of the incorrect display and what it looks like on my default browser fir reference.

Give that I use TB as my desktop client to access my nyu.edu email (provided by google), and that recently I updated my password as periodically requested by nyu admin When I try to access nyu email a pop up screen come up asking to authenticate with imap.gmail.com. I click next and get a 403 Access Forbidden error (Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com.)

Solutions I have tried: 1. Clear cookies, history and cache on browsers and TB; 2. Changed default browsers (Ffox, Ch, Edge); 3. Deleted account in TB and created it again using instructions here https://www.nyu.edu/servicelink/KB0016473 4. Accessed my nyu email on browser to check user name and password. It works. I can access the email.

Nothing seems to work. Still get 403 error. As a result I am unable to authenticate and hence use the email account in TB.

HI, I'm trying to move the text to below the picture as in the screenshot of the popup (black back ground) on the non-popup pages because the mobile is not in popup, and the text is blocking the artwork as well. Is there a section to move the text outside of the picture? Thank you!

I use the mobile version of Mozilla firefox and it choose to "remove" the open in other app feature for certain apps.

If I open youtube.com mozilla would ask to "open in other app" as an option instead of just opening it in the browser, youtube, twitter/X, reddit, etc. are fine, but for certain apps such as Pixiv and Patreon the option just dissapeared entirely, not even in the tripple dots at the bottom right does this option appear, can anyone help?

I used the "A" key on a message in my yahoo account and it did not go to any of the Yahoo archive folders. Can't find it in the trash either. Any ideas about where this message might have ended up? Thanks

I uninstalled Thunderbird on my Windows 10 computer, however when I downloaded and installed it again, I was able to recover most of what I needed from my previous profile, except my task list and tasks.

Having searched every article I was able, I could not find the file extension for tasks and/or task list nor when I do find it how to properly import into my new settings/profile which I am using.
