Until yesterday, I had no issues accessing my Yahoo account. However, all of a sudden, the Yahoo login popup has started appearing.
After entering the password, I get the error: "Something went wrong. We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device."
I checked and tried following:

T-Bird one Yahoo of six accts, repetitive “ENTER CREDENTIALS” My T-bird release: 144.0.1 (64-bit) Desktop: WIN 11 Pro – with all updates
For the last few days, I have not been able to obtain emails on my desktop T-Bird for one of my six Yahoo accounts. And, I cannot send any emails from the account
BUT, I can access the target Yahoo email account via my desktop Firefox, via Android T-Bird and via Android/Firefox. And all incoming and outgoing emails are present. Stymied, I changed the Yahoo acct password. After the change, these three work domains perfectly as before. And again, all incoming and outgoing emails are present.
BUT, the repetitive error with my desktop T-Bird for the one Yahoo account persists. The POP-UP provides a long string in the URL window and the only text shows: “Edge: Too Many Requests” >>>>>>>> I’m not using EDGE [Yahoo must use EDGE for the login error POP-UP] The window in the bottom Task Bar displays: “Enter credentials” [repetitively – ad nauseum].
This is the copy of the Yahoo URL in the POP-UP: https://login.yahoo.com/?src=thunderbird&client_id=dj0yJmk9NUtCTWFMNVpTaVJmJmQ9WVdrOVJ6UjVTa2xJTXpRbWNHbzlNQS0tJnM9Y29uc3VtZXJzZWNyZXQmeD0yYw--&crumb=mdAGY49jGd8&login_hint=name_of_email_acct%40yahoo.com&redirect_uri=http%3A%2F%2Flocalhost&pspid=954010027&activity=thunderbird-imap&done=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.login.yahoo.com%2Foauth2%2Fauthorize%3F.scrumb%3D0%26client_id%3Ddj0yJmk9NUtCTWFMNVpTaVJmJmQ9WVdrOVJ6UjVTa2xJTXpRbWNHbzlNQS0tJnM9Y29uc3VtZXJzZWNyZXQmeD0yYw--%26redirect_uri%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Flocalhost%26response_type%3Dcode%26scope%3Dmail-w I changed my email account name in the display above to: name_of_email_acct; all else is verbatim.
For clarity all six accounts work without encountering "Enter credentials" on the desktop via Firefox, my android via T-Bird app, my android via Firefox. Five of the six work on my desktop T-bird.
I did not add any extensions in the last week. I did disable all extensions (and restarted) with no change in behavior. I put a 25 cent piece on the keyboard to appease the computer gods – no change.
Yup: cleared cache and cookies. Deleted password from desktop T-Bird repository, but the new one is not recorded. Changed authentication from OAuth2 to Normal and back again- no change
Yes, I waited multiple hours to try again, with no luck.

Hi, I can sign in and all mail accouns work fine. However, i USED to be able to go to passwords then chose show passwords and (after typing my global passsword for TB) I would see my real passwords (not the long string of letters) for each account.
Now I cannot see these anymore. How come and can i see my real passwords for my accounts?
thanks

While trying to retrieve new messages for one of my email accounts, I keep getting the message "Login to server xxx.xxx.xxx with username xxx@xxx.xxx failed."
I click the "Enter New Password" button and enter the same password that I use to successfully login to the account on a browser, and it STILL fails and keeps showing the same message box.
This started happening this morning. Have others reported this problem? What do I need to check to see if there is a problem in either Thunderbird or in my email account settings?
Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Firefox android provides no master password/primary password protection so passwords in the Firefox password manager are protected only by your lockscreen swipe(yeah, I thought the same thing you just thought).
I need full protection like on Desktop or I can't sync my passwords to Firefox. However, when temporarily enabling password sync on desktop, for example between two desktop devices it also temporarily enables it on android Firefox that you might have synced as well. The upshot of this for me is that I now have all my passwords on android without wanting them there for the above reasons.
So, how do I remove all passwords on my firefox android, without having to reinstall Firefox on the phone?
I get "failure to login" constantly now. I cannot write or send any mail. I suspect I'm not receiving any either. Has anything changed recently? Win 11

13 Nov. I have been dealing with the problem of the requirement to sign in to Thunderbird using Google. It does not work. I enter my e-mail address, click next, and get a second window that says "Error 400". I tried to get some help with this through a company listed on the internet as Just Answer. That turned out to be a scam.
Someone called me this morning, offering to help me with this problem. The person was from the company The Web Services. While the technician from Web Services was working on my computer for a while to restore my Thunderbird files, he told he that they kept losing the internet connection to my computer. He said they had determined that they kept losing the internet connection, because some hackers were hacking into my computer, while they were working. He showed me a lot of evidence of hacking on my computer, indicating that the 2 technicians from Just Answer who had helped me the day before through long chats were hacking into my computer the entire time they were chatting with me, going through steps they said would solve the problem with having to sign in to Thunderbird using Google. I think the people from Just Answer had tried to create a Thunderbird back-up profile, but had not done it correctly. As a result, all the data within Thunderbird was lost. I cancelled my subscription with Just Answer today.
The technician from The Web Services was able to restore my Thunderbird, including the many local files I have. Some additional formatting of the site still needs to be done, and the correct server settings need to be set up. That is to be finished tomorrow morning. The Web Services person also sold me an anti-hacking firewall, which is supposed to also provide network security.
I am concerned, because on the Mozilla support page, it specifically states that Thunderbird does not offer phone support. I gave this company access to my computer today, so they could restore my Thunderbird files. The Thunderbird files have been restored. Now I see that the issue with trying unsuccessfully to sign in to Thunderbird using Google is still there. So I am right back where I started over a week ago, trying to find someone who can solve the issues that come up when I try to sign into Thunderbird with Google.
I am somewhat suspicious of the company The Web Services, because they called me and offered to fix the problems I am having with signing in to Thunderbird. Please let me know whether it was unwise to let them work on my computer today. Could this be another scam? Thank you.

Hello,
Just the other day I noticed my Thunderbird doesn't log into my Yahoo account and as a result doesn't update the mailbox.
I get a pop up that asks for Yahoo mail address and then password. When I put the correct info there, all I get is "Something went wrong" message.
I've tried removing cookies, removing saved passwords, removing the account and restarting the PC. None of these helped.
I've also checked the IMAP and SMTP server addresses and ports are ok and it uses the SSL/TLS and OAuth2 for authentication.
Any idea what to try?

I saw where there was a same problem liste a couple of months ago but the solution did nto work. As of this morning I can no longer send with my CompuServe Account. There was no change in my settings, and I have had the account in place with Thunderbird for years. I get an error to enter my password again, I do, then no luck. It asks again. When I cancel, I get an alert, sending of the message failed, Unable to authenticate Outgoing Server (SMTP), please check the password and verify the "Authentication method" in "Account Settings|Outgoing Server (SMTP)
I tried change the password authentication from normal to OAuth2. No luck.
No problem with downloading messages; they all come through.
I saved the message to be sent in my Draft Folder and then when going to the web version of CompuServe (really AOL and really Yahoo), my message is saved in the Draft Folder and I can then send it.
Thank you in advance.

Hello, After replacing my PC (Windows 11), I reinstalled Thunderbird. I have 4 GMail accounts. For 3 of them, no problem. But for one, I have the error 'Authentication error. Connection to server is impossible. Configuration, identifier or password look incorrects'. I used default settings. This account is not particular. Issue remains after deleting this account, restarting Windows, and re-creating this account. I've created a new Windows user, then add this GMail account, and no problem. So what do you think of this? The only workaround for me is to switch between 2 Windows user. It's not useful. And I don't understand why this account, which is similar to others, has this issue. Thanks a lot for your answers.

I have used Thunderbird on an old Windows PC for years. I need to create Thunderbird email on my new Windows 11 PC. I have downloaded and installed it. I created a new account using my email bryanttheinformer@verizon.net, and Thunderbird correctly identified the incoming address parameters and the outgoing address and parameters, exactly like my old system.
The new system consistently fails to authenticate my account through the server. I have turned OFF the incoming Firewall, but still the account fails to authenticate.
Please help. bryanttheinformer@verizon.net OR bryanttheinformer@gmail.com
