As a stakeholder, I am unhappy with Anthony Enzor-DeMeo's ideas to incorporate more AI into the Firefox browser in the future. Most internet browsers are using AI nowadays, and I think Firefox's lack of AI makes it a very appealing browser for users. This is because new AI technology annoys many people. As other browsers continue to incorperate more and more AI, this will increase Firefox's appeal for users who are annoyed with AI.

Overall, I think Firefox will be a much better browser if it does not incorperate AI. It will mean a lot to me if these concerns are taken into account. Thank you for all that you have done.

Sincerely, Eli Buikema

I am extremely disappointed that the new CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo is trying to push AI onto one of the only good browsers left that HASN’T implemented AI. The biggest reason that I switched from Google Chrome to Firefox was because Firefox wasn’t using AI. It’s unnecessary, terrible for the environment, incorrect, and I don’t want it. I will be switching to another browser if AI is implemented in Firefox’s future. Don’t bow down to AI.

It is a million times easier to avoid AI on browsers that simply do not use it, or that make it a fully opt-in feature, than to use an AI browser and then need to opt out.

I have been a fan and user of firefox for many years and recommended it to many others, but if it becomes an opt-out AI browser I and many others will be leaving.

This is not only frustrating to the users who need to move, but an unfortunate step backwards for the browser that has garnered a good reputation and dedicated userbase.

How can we stop firefox from adding AI features, or at the very least make them Opt-in?

There are so many reasons why people don't want AI on Firefox. If I wanted AI, I'd go and use a chromium browser. I came to Firefox to get away from AI bull, not to have it shoved down my throat here as well.

If the new AI changes roll out I'm going to be finding another browser that won't risk my privacy just for a machine that only works half the time or add to AI centers destroying the environment. Thanks!

I don't know if it's the right topic (well I guess all are very near the main issue) but I will give it a go - what's wrong with NOT HAVING AI driven browser? I was advocating for you guys for many years, using your browser and supporting your stuff because of the privacy and totally diff approach to browsing case. Yet here we are and you absolutely obliterated your own image in my eyes... AI? For real? Without a QUESTION AT START TO KILL IT IMMEDIATELY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS NONSENSE?

I am very sad, because I have already found an alternative and I will be saying good bye to you. It's... Been a long time, I have never betrayed you yet you... Nevermind, it's just sad that I have to go to other solutions because you can't keep your legs together...

I don't expect to get any response from you, I just wanted to share my sad thoughts and a fact that not only me but a massive amount of my dev friends have already staredt using other browsers (there are things that work better in other browsers) to make things done.

Nevertheless it was a good time. I wish you all Merry Christmas and we will remember you for a long time for so many good things.

Bye, Lucas

I have recently been watching a gentleman rebuild computers and downloaded the videos so I can go over them and learn more about this topic. I recently went to watch an episode and it played in German. I started playing some of them one by one and they are all in different languages. German, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, etc... I have not changed any settings and have no idea what is going on. Has anyone heard of this or knows how to change it back? It plays the same on VLC or MPC-HC. If it was one language or on one player I would think it to be a setting.

I am so disappointing in the CEO's decision to push AI. Firefox has a very dedicated following BECAUSE it does not push AI and all the other shady things other Browsers push. Everyone I know will stop using Mozilla browsers if they continue on in implementing AI.

I have spent so many hours deleting every sneaky file, disabling every program, having all firewalls block any AI. (I really do need to switch to Linux with the amount of time I spend on this lol...)

How do we contact the higher ups? If large numbers of users emailed/heck even wrote (making a point that we will delete our Mozilla accounts if AI happens) maybe it could help? Or a petition?

I use the email address [email 2 removed]@interia.pl. The account is configured in Thunderbird on a Lenovo laptop. The laptop is protected by ESET Smart Security antivirus software. As recommended by Eset, I added ESET VPN to my protection. After enabling ESET VPN, the address doesn't configure. It requests a password. I receive messages that the server is disconnecting. Other addresses work. Disabling ESET VPN causes the address to work. This problem doesn't occur on my other Outlook email client. I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue. Just wanted to add my voice to the complaints about further AI being added to firefox. Firefox as a browser is a refuge from the enshittification of the internet as a whole, with it being one of the few non-chromium browser options, please dont join in the effort to force AI on everyone. At the very least it shouldnt take multiple options to disable AI in my browser. But at best I would love to see firefox development focused on performance rather than more AI bullshit that only CEO's want.

I want to make sure I'm signed in to get updates! tips¡ Suggestions; etc any new beta testing. Gemini and I have successfully gone through the configuration and settings and Firefox. We have successfully synced password bookmarks etc to Firefox. At the new user to the Firefox beta testing program are there any specific activities that you would like us to perform. I would appreciate Amy advice on different subjects to test. I recently within the Google Gemini beta testing program and I was wondering if there's any more beta testing program that I can sign up for it.

Of course there is no category for general concerns, so category choice is wrong by default, sorry about that.

The recent "year in review" included this attached bit. Does that mean that the Mozilla foundation is deciding to not allocate any of their overall revenue to Thunderbird and rely solely on user donations for it? If so, why does it own/manage Thunderbird? To me the entire purpose of an entity like Mozilla managing a project like Thunderbird is like most companies, to be able to allocate extra revenue from more lucrative projects to ones that are less so. Seems that the userbase of a project you own doesn't matter, money^s somehow better allocated to stuff that nobody asked for?

As the title suggests, I find this forum incredibly bad. It's so difficult to even get to the point where I'm able to post a question, I assume that most who search for help give up and browse for a different forum to get help.

Speaking of other forums - I'm not sure if this is supposed to be the official place to get help if you have problems with your Thunderbird install. There is also this one, but that seems to be strictly a place for developers? Or is that for users reporting bugs too? If that other forum is for developers, then my next question would be if Thunderbird developers even read about posted bugs in this forum? If not, then what's the point of this anyways?

In short, I would like to know if this right here is indeed supposed to be the "official" place for Thunderbird users to report bugs and make suggestions or should this be done somewhere else. Just the fact that I as a user can't tell already says a lot.

Please Mozilla or Thunderbird - shut this down and create a better forum for your users! For example, other software that I use has discourse forums that work very well for connecting users and developers. If you can create a better place for your user base to come together, report bugs, make suggestions and give feedback, you make the whole experience around using Thunderbird more enjoyable and ultimately gain more users.

Thank you for your work on Thunderbird.
