To whoever this new CEO is of firefox,

Stop with the AI garbage. Please.

AI is a notorious waste of space in software and all it does is bog down the experience and make everything harder for everyone. Also it is notorious for collecting information and violating users privacy like the lab rats you apparently take us for.

Stop it.

I loved Firefox because I could use it comfortably without all of this stupid AI crap making my life harder. I've already hacked my browser to make sure this doesn't appear but I'm not satisfied. To any other firefox tech reading this get that Anthony guy out of here. We don't want him, and we don't want AI.

I know with the implementation of this new CEO, he plans to add more garbage AI to the browser we've all been using to avoid all the new AI tool crap just to steal our data and sell it to a third-party. I have been a long, dedicated user to Mozilla Firefox since I was in middle school and played games with my friends, I'm an adult now and have never particularly been interested in using Chrome or any of the hundreds of Chromium based browsers. I've always stayed dedicated to Mozilla Firefox because the browser was specifically made to be user friendly and open-source. If you take that away I won't be using Mozilla Firefox anymore, I will just move to the next open source project for a browser.

I can't wait until this AI bubble bursts so we don't have to deal with any of this garbage any longer.

Do you have a set date to when you're going to be implementing this big change so I can have a proper funeral for one of the best browsers to be taken outback and put down into the AI slop this new CEO wants it to be?

I switched to Firefox as my primary browser from Chrome due to Chrome's instance on forcing unnecessary and intrusive AI features onto the platform, and their revoking support for ad blockers.

Anthony Enzor-DeMeo's quote from his recent blog post announcing that Firefox "will evolve into a modern AI browser" is a huge red flag for me. I do not care how much he may promise the features will be "something people can easily turn off", I do not trust it will remain that way. Mozilla will have a bad quarter and suddenly those won't be optional features anymore. I have seen it happen with other tech companies and it's infuriating that Mozilla seems to be merrily skipping down the same path.

In addition to the AI bloat Mozilla seems to insisting they need, Enzor-DeMeo recently said that "He could begin to block ad blockers in Firefox and estimates that'd bring in another $150 million, but he doesn't want to do that." To even joke about that is an astounding misstep. I specifically joined Firefox to be able to use an ad blockers.

I've enjoyed my time with Firefox and have recommended it to friends in the past, but I have changed browsers before. If Firefox continues to forge ahead with these frankly absurd changes, I will have to do so again.

Actually, given that this "feature" made it all the way through to prod, I seriously suggest you just fire absolutely everyone currently working for Mozilla and start over with entirely new people, and ideally have as one of your hiring criteria a sensible understanding that AI has no place in Firefox, or any other Mozilla project. Leaving aside the question of whether it's good or bad, it's simply irrelevant to what we're doing here.

I hopped onto firefox the same way many others did- looking for a browser that didn't have the ties to privacy issues or baggage of bloatware, and especially since all of the other browsers are changing things to focus on AI. And now that firefox is joining that chain I wonder why I even bother trying to get attached.

Like, on the one hand I can somewhat see where the CEO is coming from, everyone's getting a cool new toy and you want in on that, that's understandable. But with something as half-baked, destructive, and actively contentious as AI, I wonder the true value of playing with things like that.

In fact, have you SEEN what's going on with AI? Microsoft's shoved Copilot into every aspect of windows 11, their PCs, their browser, their marketing, and what did they get? Regret! They regretted that decision as consumers aren't happy with that decision!

Even OpenAI, the granddaddy of all LLM stuff around, they're not even going to be profitable until 2030. Yes, that's 4 years away. No, I sincerely HOPE they don't last that long.

Why Mozilla is picking this decision? FOMO, I presume, but like. It doesn't have to be this way, it's allowed to be a small bastion where people can actually pick what I want out of it. I dislike the fact Perplexity got added to my search functions, but I'm happy that I could turn it off.

My browser recently updated and announced some stuff about using AI. I don't want it. I don't want to associate with AI. Is there a way to rollback my browser to a previous version?

Holy hell, this is an awful idea. Firefox has been like, the most widely-supported and accessible competitor to Chrome that hasn't started pawning off data willy-nilly, and now your investor-pickled brain is deciding to add the Unethical Slop Generator built in? Fuck off. Pull anything, and you're losing customers.

I'm getting seriously sick of the AI "features" Mozilla keeps adding to Firefox. I use Firefox primarily for its privacy and to get away from AI! If it doesn't stop, I'll have to start exploring other options.

I am someone who uses firefox for its simplicity and its privacy, away from all the bloat and walls that chromium or other browsers supplies. Adding AI to the browser will harm mine and others experiences, as well as cause less powerful machines to struggle to run. Please do not add AI

I refuse, for a considerable number of reasons. And I'm concerned and dismayed that Mozilla's new leadership is intent on doing so.

I've been an avid user of Mozilla products for years... but posting this is the last time I will be using Firefox before uninstalling it to swap to Vivaldi, whose CEO Jon von Tetzchner has publicly stated their commitment to, as they put it, "humans over hype".

I am utterly fed up with having unwanted AI "features" crammed unavoidably into every corner of my online experience. I'm deeply disappointed in Mozilla for embracing and enabling the ongoing disintegration of our shared internet.

Thanks to the new CEO of Mozilla moving on with the enshitification of Mozilla Firefox and deciding to shove AI-bloatware down the throat of your users I will cease supporting Mozilla vocally--in person and on social media. The greater portion of your users are not wanting the lackluster addition of any AI into the browser. A "modern AI browser" will become a lesser product overall and will only encourage your users to find a better browser.

And of course there's no "Contact Us" anymore. I don't even expect this to reach a human.

Firefox will become what all the other browsers are: a turd in an already filled sewer.

Since the new CEO of Firefox seems to be very determined to add more AI features to the browser that I've been using (among other things) specifically to escape AI slop, I will be considering switching to another browser. It will be disheartening to abandon the browser I've been using for years, but I value my personal data (and cpu) too much to let an AI handle it. I appreciated his words that it would be "Completely opt-in, you have full control, and if you try it and find it’s not for you, you can choose to switch it off", but I strongly believe that all AI browsers are inherently insecure. The first AI feature that I can't make completely disappear forever with one click will be my sign to switch browsers. Hopefully, Firefox re-thinks its approach and decides not to destroy the exact thing that makes it so valuable - the commitment to protect the users' privacy.

For those of us that do want to use AI for work performance enhancement purposes, I have a question and also a comment for the Development Team. Here is the scenario real quick. I use Mozilla Firefox as my trusted browser today and that means that I open other AI systems such as ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, etc. within this browser and could at times be running multiple browser sessions at the same time. My question is, will the Mozilla new AI Features attempt to try and compete with my other chat sessions for data capture, response and participation if I keep portions or the whole system enabled? The last thing I need is Mozilla AI as the selected browser now interfering with my other work flow processes in anyway including just listening along which would significantly increase the amount of resources used to run the Mozilla AI in parallel with other AI systems on my computer. I have heavy work loads at times and am already experiencing browser delays in processing data (even when setting up separate project chats for specific tasks) because of too many added features within all of the AI systems like historical chat session quick links on the right side of the screen. That's a ton of data that ends up getting stored/cached, referenced and processed with each command executed. I don't mind using Mozilla AI within the browser for general personal surfing and Q&A purposes but I can see this potentially becoming a big issue for us creators working with large image data processing tasks in other AI systems via the Mozilla browser. I will unfortunately be turning all of these Mozilla AI features off to start because I am not sure there really is a clear separation path for resource allocations within the browser now keeping my experience fast and efficient. Most likely this will force me into using a different browser product for personal vs business until things are much clearer. Hoping to learn a little bit here and see that things like this are being taken into consideration, even if it is a product roadmap enhancement for release sometime in the near future. Just wanted to add my voice to the complaints about further AI being added to firefox. Firefox as a browser is a refuge from the enshittification of the internet as a whole, with it being one of the few non-chromium browser options, please dont join in the effort to force AI on everyone. At the very least it shouldnt take multiple options to disable AI in my browser. But at best I would love to see firefox development focused on performance rather than more AI bullshit that only CEO's want.

The literal only consolation is that it sounds like I'll be able to turn it off in settings, but that isn't good enough. Firefox is the ine major browser on the market that DOESN'T have much of this stuff and actually kinda cares about privacy. Why take that away? You're only driving away your main userbase. If you continue shoving AI down our throats like everyone else I'm gonna have to find an alternative.
