Since update yesterday, new tab is empty. Whatever I do, open new tab, open new window, go to `about:newtab` manually, it does not load anything. The view is totally blank. I can navigate to other pages fine as it should though. Only New Tab view is broken. Diagnostic mode does not work. I don't have plugins that would affect New Tab anyways.

I have been an avid (make that RABID) Firefox user and advocate for more than a decade. I recently had to wipe my hard drive and am still going through the painful process of putting things back the way I like them.
Firefox is (was?) my preferred and default browser. I use other browsers only when forced to for work or when Firefox doesn't function with certain apps.
Now, the new version of Firefox does not allow me to set my own home page. I have a choice of Firefox or blank for new tabs. Yes, I can click on the Home icon to get to my preferred home page... but that's another step. Why?
It's only one day in, but honestly, I'm seriously thinking about moving to another browser that doesn't require me to MANUALLY click a home icon to get where I want. WTF?
Whatever you say, you've made it super difficult for this loyal user.

I've been a very long time Firefox user, and have for many years been aghast at how prominently Firefox promotes a virulently antisemitic paper called "The Guardian" on its recommended stories. Every time I see it, I thumbs it down, and have been doing so for years, hoping that eventually the algorithm would stop recommending that junk to me. I have NEVER clicked a link to "The Guardian" from the recommended stories page either, not even once. I'll often see 2-3 links from this virulently antisemitic paper and thumb each one down. Why does the algorithm keep recommending it to me? I know that I can turn off Recommended stories, however I like the content, and have found a lot of interesting stuff through it. Why is Firefox relentlessly pushing Nazis propaganda?
(If you don't think The Guardian pushes virulently antisemitic Nazi propaganda, I would be happy to share links demonstrating how it does exactly that, but since this is a new account, I don't want the algorithm to think I'm spamming.)

I installed Firefox on a fresh Win 11 install, and most of the the favicons are still generic on the Home Page several days later. Facebook, Ebay and Youtube are the only ones that appear consistently, sometimes other will display, but then be gone again the next time the app is launched. All other links just have the generic letter icons.
I tried deleting the 3 favicon files in the Profiles folder, but it did nothing. I've tried manually re-adding the links, still nothing. I removed the "S" from "https;//" and still nothing. The favicons all show up on my other machines which use Firefox on the same user account, so it is not a problem with the websites themselves.
Not sure if its related, but upon installing Firefox on this machine, it made Firefox on my Mac desktop absolutely freak out. I had to make a significant number of changes over the course of hours to fix everything, so many relating to favicons alone that I don't know what actually fixed it.
What else can I do to try and get these working? Why does Firefox apparently struggle with this particular feature across multiple OSes?
Thanks.

How can I customize recommended stories so that only articles that require a sign-in to be viewed not be shown to me. If I see a story title that looks interesting and I select it and a sign in page immediately pops up (all of which I do not wish to sign up for just to read a short article) then it feels like another privacy grab.

Make it go away or tell me how to get rid of it - PLEASE.

I have search the settings and cannot find it. Please send instructions to add it to the bar. If I were to use chrome/google they have it and I know Firefox did have it. Thank you

I really hate your new format for your recommended articles, and cannot find a decent article to customize it. It is really horrible.

I've unchecked all three boxes, but the two sub-boxes stay checked and the sponsored stories and links continue to appear even though I unchecked the boxes. See attached image. How do I disable? Why can't I uncheck these boxes? I was actually just trying to disable it for a few, not all of my computers, but, now that it's being forced on me, I'm a bit unhappy with Firefox. I've supported, promoted, and used them for years but now they seem to be following the same path of other prying browsers. :(
Firefox used to show most used sites when a tab is opened.

Anyone got any ideas for persuading firefox to show the logo of the sites rather than their first letter - which in many cases is T as in The!

In the settings, I selected a custom url for the homepage. The only other choice was the Firefox default page (which doesn't have the sites that I selected)
Thanks.
