I keep getting this error message. I have checked all my setting but find no problem. The error/warning I get is as follows: Thunderbird, The IMAP server Kingston does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you just set up this account, please try changing to :Normal password" as the Authentication method in the account setting... It stops there. When I send, it does not want to save to my sent file, and I get this warning all the time. I went to settings and SMTP server has "Normal password" in the settings. I have restarted several times but no luck. Ideas? Solution? Help!!

cannot find an answer. I would like to open TB with my default account which I did via account actions default. TB always opens with a different account. What can I do to make that happen? Thank you in advance

Damn bloody right it already exists. Or do I need to specify servers that don't exist. Just make one up or so ?

I would like to change the authentication method to OAuth2, but it doesn't appear in the drop-down menu.

My Thunderbird version is 140.4.0esr (64-bit). I have all cookies set to allow.

How do I change it to OAuth2?

I have an account that I am not aware of having requested. The address is the same as the original account and the inbox appears to also be the same. It does state POP3 after the address. I want to remove this account. How can I do that?

When I tried to delete the account all the emails before today on the POP3 address and the original address disappeared. Is it possible to get the emails back or the recent ones?

i have pop3 account and unchecked leave on server - but greyed and checked out is a 'leave for a maximum' which i have as 1 day, there doesnt seem to be an option to uncheck this? I dont want them on the server which is why i chose pop account. yet when i open web account, the emails already downloaded using the pop account are still there even thoug they were downloaded days ago. Why is this and how do stop this? is there a 'leave copy on server' box to uncheck that I am missing? i want to use pop to remove from server and just use locally but its not doing what i thought it would, which is remove from setver. Also it keeps repeating downloading from years ago so I was hoping that when the server synced it would stop downloading the ones it has already (mulitple times) I made an imap account to try to sort emails that way but it also shows old emails still on server. Should i delet this imap account as I already have a pop account running? Very confused. Help figuring out what to do appreciated.

This is taking place on my desk top. My phone still has all my email accounts. Not sure if all my contacts are in my phone but way more than my desk top. Should mention new computer in Oct.24 with change from windows 10 to windows 11. Two thing, one, my other email accounts are no longer listed in thunderbird. Still have my main email with it's folders. I did the sinking thing with the phone still missing. Two, My contacts are mostly missing. Had Friends list, Business list, Family list and so on, all gone.

After many years of using Thunderbird with an AOL account I changed my password in AOL to increase the security. So I had to install the AOL account again in Thunderbird. I created an app password in AOL and put it in Thunderbird. Everythin fine so far. AOL login window opens automatically. But after login to AOL the message "somthing went wrong" and "try on anther device" pops up. I tried it on several PC's - no way. Other mail clients like Mailspring oder Mailbird did work with the AOL account. What is the problem?

Hello everybody, I have 5 accounts managed with Thunderbird. They are named provider, provider-1 up to provider-4. I don't know, which Thunderbird-Account belongs to which Provider-Account. Is there any possibility to find out, which Thunderbird-Account belongs to which Provider-Account and to save one of these 5 Thunderbird-Accounts on disk?

I have a working Thunderbird email account on a windows 10 computer. I recently bought a new windows 11 computer and downloaded Thunderbird from the Thunderbird site. I installed it on the new computer and tried setting up my email. It fails in auto and manual setup. Since I have a working account on the windows 10 computer, I should be able to look at the settings and transfer them to the new computer. I am 76 years old and have a difficult time with today's technology. If someone can assist me, I would be grateful and co-operate fully. Thank you.

I've uninstalled and loaded thunderbird 115.18.0 twice and both times missing some of the settings in the server. Incoming server & copies and folders most notably....do I need an older version for windows 7 64 bit?

I had set it up for imap but your installer said it found the correct configuration. I'm on ATT server. I don't think so or the server settings wouldn't be missing. The outgoing was there but not the rest. HELP my email is [edited from public forum] @att.net

It says my sbcglobal.net settings are out of date. Pops up once a day. HOw do I update my settings for [edited from public] @sbcglobal.net?
