Upgraded to v102 yesterday, and am really annoyed with the way so many things are behaving differently.

Latest annoyance is that when I'm looking at a folder, and archive an email (by pressing A if that makes any difference), TB then highlights the next email down, which is fine. However, it seems to think I want it to open the email, and so pops up a window to show me the message.

Can I stop it doing this? It never did this before, and I really don't want it popping up email windows without asking me. I just discovered about fives windows, all showing the same email, all hiding behind my main TB window.

Thanks for any help. In case it makes any difference, attached is the only bit of the settings that looks like it might be relevant. Can't see anything there that would control this though.

  "Sending of the message failed.
  The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.optusnet.com.au failed. 
  The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server 
  (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

I changed the settings and still get the same error. I checked the settings and still get the same error. I restarted computer and the modem etc. The server is still working, as I can use webmail to send emails, and they work. I can only assume something in the new version has changed the way the settings are read.

When I click the download button I usually see my recent downloads and click open the file directly from the drop down. After 10-20 downloads are performed the drop down no longer shows my recent files until I restart firefox. I think the issue is once you hit a certain amount of downloads the preview drop down no longer works. Is this a know bug? Its happening on any pc, im on version 104.0.2 (64-bit)

For years I try to switch form Outlook 2010 to Thunderbird. Among others I've tried the Thunderbird Setup 31.8.0 route (partly successful, but after an update to the current version of Thunderbird, I lost all data), the new Thunderbird 102.0b4 Beta, all unsuccessfully. Like the normal version 102.0.3

I have Outlook 2010 version:14.0.7268.5000 (32 bits) and Thunderbird 102.0.3 (64bits). I choose “Import from outlook”. I get the error in a red line “no profile found”. Old agenda, contacts and e-mails are very important to me. So a clean install is not a option. If I'am not successful to migrate, I've to upgrade Outlook.

1 is 32 to 64 bits the problem? 2 is direct import from pst file possible? 3 where is Thunderbird looking for the file / profile? Is putting a copy in that location a solution? 4 other suggestions?

I have used Firefox for my online banking for years. Just recently when I go to the bill payment section and click on the drop down list to pay and view a bill, I can pay the bill, but when I try to view the bill the view bill window comes up for a second and the a drop down of the bank's home page comes up. The view bill page used to be a PDF file and Adobe Reader is my default. I talked with the bank and they did not see it happen in my account. If I open the online banking in Microsoft Edge it does not occur.

I've been using Firefox for several years, and this has never happened before. This is a pretty strange problem and I'm having trouble describing it, so please bear with me.

Since a day or two ago, I've been experiencing a problem where a small number of videos play, but once they get to right before the end, it'll abruptly stop. The play button looks as though the video is still playing even though it's really not, and clicking the play button does nothing. The only way to get the video to play again is to either refresh the page, move the progress bar back to a previous part of the video, or go all the way to the end of the video, in which case it'll allow me to replay it. The videos this problem happens on are completely random, but the problem persists on the same exact videos. This happens with both direct links to videos (i.e. videos like this one) and "embedded" videos (like videos on Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, etc). However, this only happens if the video has no sound or the sound is off, whether I've muted the tab or turned the sound off on the video directly. It also doesn't matter if the video is looped.

There's also a slightly different variation of this issue that seems to happen less often. With this problem, videos will stop right before the end like the videos that have the other problem, but only for a few seconds - after that, the video will end like normal and I can replay it.

I've tried restarting my computer, playing the problematic videos in a private window, disabling all of my extensions, using Troubleshoot Mode, refreshing Firefox, and even uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. This problem does NOT happen on Microsoft Edge. I'm 99% sure it's because of the new update (105.0), as this issue has only started happening after I updated to it. I updated to 105.0.1 earlier today, and it's still happening. I'm thinking of going back to 104.0.2 if this glitch doesn't get fixed (or at least I don't get help) soon, because I know this issue will seriously get annoying after a while.

Two of the videos that have this problem are this video and this video. Note that both have the secondary version of this problem. I would have uploaded a video of the problem to this post, but this website doesn't let me, so I attached the best screenshot I could take instead.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, I am a bit concerned, as Firefox never before acted this way. Has this been reported? 0. Few weeks ago computer froze, after restart, bookmarks that I had made new had disappeared and old ones appeared, as if firefox reversed to previous saved setting from hour before freezing of computer.

Now, the main ones that have been happening during last week: 1. Firefox randomly downloaded (twice during last week) some random file with random letters, for example " H3jO5Ni4m.htm". It was always one file, that was a ".htm" file, and it had 0 bites. I uploaded the file to virustotal and it brought me to this: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855/detection

I then googled about this specific problem with Firefox downloading a 0 byte .htm file, and it has been happening to people for last 6 months, not many cases, but some,still. Peoples comments implied that this is harmless and that it is a bug of Firefox.

2. Firefox today,about half an hour ago logged me out of most websites, not all, but most. Firefox never ever behaved this way and it happens only to Firefox, not any other browser that I own.

During last week I scanned my computer in both normal and safe mode with: Eset Online Scanner (a one time useantivirus program), Avast, Roguekiller, Malwarebytes, Mbar (Malwarebytes anti malware), and never found anything. I consider these programs most reliable, and have been using them for years.

Is it a bug of this specific version of Firefox please? I have version 105.0.1 (64-bit) and problem 1 and 2 happened since then I think.

I am running TB 102.1.2 64-bit on Windows 10 Professional 21H2. On occasion, TB will stop auto-downloading mail. When this happens, I have to click on "Get Messages" to re-start the POP3 download process. My refresh interval is every ten minutes. Last night at 9:42 I sent a piece of mail, and then no mail was downloaded. I have attached a screen-shot of the TB error console that shows the end of my 9:42PM SMTP mail send and the lines that follow. I do not know how to save the error console to a file, and I do not know if there is more relevant information in the error console. I have not kept track of the occurrences of this problem, so I cannot tell when the problem first surfaced.

I will now click "Get Messages", as I need to see my mail. Is there any other documentation I can capture when this problem next occurs? Thanks.

I clicked "Get Messages", and I saw an error pop-up window:

    Error with account ...
    The account ... is being processed.  Please wait until processing is complete to get messages.

I believe that this is the first time I have seen this pop-up message. I opened ProcessExcplorer, and I have a screen-shot of Thunderbird. I have tried to add the image to this posting, but I do not see it.

I set up my Firefox for Android to delete cookies and cache when I click on "Close".

I was happy with it but I realized several months ago than websites as leboncoin.fr, amazon.fr, decathlon.fr (yes i'm french), didn't keep me loged in but remember what I had looked for and where I was. This problem is permanent.

I don't have this problem with Firefox for Windows.

So it seems something is nor cleared from the app when I close it.

Webpages with divs and buttons that hover a consistent space of the screen like taskbars and Reddit's "back to top" button flicker white and jitter around when I try to scroll and I would like to find a quick fix if possible. I am a new user and I've only so far had to touch config settings to fix on hover UI with Twitter. Everything else is default settings and I keep getting forwarded to old bug reports and github pages for web developers when I'm trying to fix it from the user side on multiple common pages like Tumblr and StackOverflow.

Hello, ever since we moved endpoints from Firefox ESR 91.13 to 102.3, it has become impossible to play any media with Firefox.

No video will play in youtube, for instance (it just loads endlessly as if it would start, but it doesn't).

Can't use radio websites either. Anything with a "play" button (video or sound) does nothing.

This has been tested with a clean profile, a clean install, after allowing autoplay in the settings.

Is there any info on what exactly changed between ESR 91 and 102 that might explain this ? There has been no system change, If I reinstall 91 instead it works again as usual.

No issues anywhere else on the endpoints (Edge, Windows), this is on Windows 10 if it makes any difference.

Hi all. I have installed some directories in Thunderbird in order to store emails by catagory. When I opened Thunderbird all the emails contained in these directories have disappeared. The default thunderbird directories were unaffected, just my new ones. These stored emails were quite important.

Can anyone suggest anything to recover them?

Mail client: Thunderbird 102.3.0 (64-bit) running on Windows 7 pro laptop Priority issue: Today (Friday, 9/23/2022 @ ~6pm) I downloaded 100 messages from my POP3 server and they didn't appear in my Inbox. I watched as Thunderbird counted the downloading messages. I could not find them anywhere.

I searched for them using "Search Messages": Searched for all messages with with a date of "9/23/2022" and came up with only the messages I'd downloaded earlier today (about 20-messages)

Scenario (and possible cause): Earlier today- ~2AM, I deleted messages in my Junk folder, emptied my trash and ran "Compact Folder" on this Email account. - The "Compact Folder" process took a very long time to finish. - The blue progress bar was at or near 100% but would not go away. - I opened the task manager and I noticed that there were two Thunderbird processes running (guessing one was the "Compact Folder" process). - After almost 30mins I closed Thunderbird (it did not complain that it was "Busy") even though the blue progress bar was still showing. - I shutdown my computer. (no complaints that there were still processes running).

Around 6pm I started up my laptop and Thunderbird. - Initially, Thunderbird downloaded about 10 messages then stopped. - I clicked "Get messages" and I got the warning/error message- something like "Thunderbird is busy please wait for the current process to finish". - I noticed that the Blue Progress bar was present and was at or near 100%. (just like earlier this morning) - I checked the task manager and again saw two Thunderbird processes running (just like earlier this morning). - I went out to the mail server and saw that there were 100 more messages that needed to be downloaded. - I waited awhile for this 2nd process to finish, but it did not. - I tried to "End Process" and "End Process Tree" but it did not go away. - Eventually I closed Thunderbird and reopened it. - As Soon as I opened it I tried downloading messages. ..... I watched as: ....... Thunderbird (slower than usual) counted off the download of 100 messages. ........ and ....... The blue progress bar switched between the Download progress and the "other" process progress (at or near 100%). - When I looked at my Inbox there were no new messages in it.

This is driving me nuts! I'm thinking that there "must" be something I'm overlooking... Where could these messages have gone?

Looking at Thunderbird now, I see that the blue progress bar is no longer showing. New messages appear to be downloading like usual. But I'm still missing those 100 messages...

I'm a long time user: Netscape Suite, Mozilla suite, SeaMonkey and recently (Last Month) I migrated to Thunderbird. This is the first time (from what I can remember) that I've ever seen messages not show up after a server download like this.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

Upgrading my system to Debian 11, Tbird will not open either .pdf or .png attached files, but .jpg opens fine. .png is supposed to open with Firefox, .pdf with Atril. Both types of files open just fine with their respective applications when they've been saved to disk, but nothing at all happens when I click on them within an email. Is there a fix?

I have been a happy Thunderbird user for many years. Currently I am trying to migrate my three Earthlink e-mail profiles from an iMac (late 2013) running macOS Catalina, to a Mac Studio (2022) running macOS Monterey. My Thunderbird profiles use POP for incoming mail. I have always preferred to store my e-mail on my computer, not on a server, and that's still my preference. I have a lot of history in my Thunderbird folders, and I don't want to lose all the e-mail I have stored in them. So I'm afraid to try to switch to IMAP, even if I wanted to, which I really don't.

On my old iMac, Thunderbird is on version 102.3, and it looks great! So on my new Mac Studio, after downloading Thunderbird 102.3 but not opening it, I set up Profile Manager using Terminal (in Finder/Applications/Utilities), and created my three profiles exactly as they are on the old machine. Then, on the old iMac, I went to Library (via Finder) and copied my three profiles to a flash drive. I connected the flash drive to the new Mac Studio, where I copied and pasted the contents of each old profile into their corresponding new profiles. So the new profiles have new names, but the contents have been replaced by my data from my old Thunderbird profiles. This is the standard procedure, and I was very careful to do each step correctly.

Well, everything is there all right, but sadly, it is all so unbelievably tiny that it is impossible to read or use. I experimented with Zoom and Font Sizes in the View menu in my Thunderbird profiles, but the results were still very unsatisfactory, and the changes refused to persist in individual e-mails. The whole Thunderbird installation looks like it doesn't fit properly on the Mac Studio, and I can't figure out how to make it bigger. I went to Settings in a Thunderbird profile and tried increasing the font size under General->Language & Appearance, but this had no effect at all. I have also made sure that my Display settings on the new Mac Studio match my Display settings on the old iMac, but this doesn't make any difference to Thunderbird either.

I can't understand why version 102.3 looks so perfect with my three profiles on my old iMac, where everything is large and readable and fits properly, but not on my new Mac Studio! Obviously my profiles are compatible with the latest Thunderbird version, since they work fine on the iMac.

Oh, and by the way, BEFORE doing all of the above, I had initially used Apple Migration Assistant, which worked great for all my Apple content, but NOT for Thunderbird. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and deleted its profiles on the new Mac Studio, and started over again with a new install, as described above. Sadly, the results were exactly the same in both cases, whether I used Migration Assistant or downloaded a clean install of Thunderbird and manually transferred my profiles. Either way, the appearance of Thunderbird with my three profiles on my new Mac Studio is practically microscopic.

Does anyone understand what is going on? Can anyone tell me how to fix my Thunderbird? Or can you tell me what I have done wrong? I have always loved Thunderbird, and I'm brokenhearted!
