I use Thunderbird (153.2 0esr) on a win 11 PC.

I have some POP email accounts with btinternet which work.

I want to change. them to IMAP accounts using the same email addresses.

Before I do this I have several minor problems within Thunderbird, which I would like to sort out before copying the Thunderbird files as a backup.

Rather than list them all, it's possible that fixing the first may solve others.

When I open Thunderbird I see this message... see FIRSTCalendar if it hasn't been inserted into the text

I have never (knowingly) used BT's calendar. Clicking cancel removes the report and does not stop any of the BT mail accounts working.

I tried using the username and password of the default account but password of the default account without success. At a later stage this appears...

The address displayed is one that I have deleted from my BT Email account.

It is no longer shown as one of my BT accounts in the email management page in MYBT or in Thunderbird

Again, clicking Cancel does not stop my BT email accounts working.

Any suggestions how to fix this, would be welcome.

I have used Thunderbird for years, for two different work accounts and a personal account. I am retiring from one workplace, a small arts charity which runs occasional arts events for which I work from home using my own set up. My successor uses Outlook so I want to save relevant emails for them to be able to access previous correspondence if they need to. If I save relevant emails as .eml files into a folder in Dropbox, should my successor be able to open them in Outlook? If not, is there another solution apart from printing relevant emails to PDF and saving them? I am not a hugely techie user and generally find Thunderbird very straightforward! Ive been sending a weekly invite message from Thunderbird to same 40 recipients - no prob until today, when i got this message:

Sending of the message failed. The message was not sent due to exceeding the allowed number of recipients. The server responded: Policy-SC01 You’ve reached your sending limit. Don’t worry, you can send again soon..

I contacted Virgin support who shared my screen and played around with some of the Thunderbird settings. No solution so they said contact Thunderbird support, hence message. At time of this message i cannot even send to one recipient......would appreciate advice on here if possible.

I'm a newbie. I am financially obligated to have an ATT/Yahoo email acct. It is 2-factor ID. Can't properly save and utilize the email there, but must keep acct. Need to set up Thunderbird so that I can transfer/save those emails to Thunderbird. ZERO help from Yahoo... If it is possible to do, hoping someone can give easy steps to accomplish. I've been using TB for years and all has been working well. But now I have no idea what is going on.

When I try to download new email from my Yahoo account (using pop3) it tells me that it is downloading 1 or 25 (say) and none get downloaded.

Then I delete some emails in TB and a little while later those deleted emails get downloaded again but none of the latest emails. Even if I logiin to Yahoo and delete those emails, TB seems to manage to download them again. How?

If I delete the first email it should download sometimes the rest will download but not always. Sometimes when I update to the latest version of TB emails start downloading.

I have tried to doing a repair on the Inbox but this seems to make no difference.

I've no idea what to try. Anyone got any advice/suggestions?

Also, how do I get from the Beta version of TB to the stable version? I don't even remember choosing to use the Beta versions.

Lastly, I often get pop-up messages saying that folders cannot be compacted because something is using those folders. I've never understood why TB puts out this message. Why does it not just compact the folders when it has done whatever it is doing? Is there a way of stopping these messages and finding out what is using the folders?

I have always used Firefox to access my account with Spectrum.net, until the past few days, when my login has been rejected, repeatedly. Talking to a Spectrum tech rep, she told me to try to log in using Chrome. I tried it, and had no trouble changing my password and then logging in to my account. The tech rep concluded that the problem therefore lies with Firefox. Does Firefox need to be re-set somehow? Thanks! Hollis Barber

Thunderbird is regularly (at least once a week at random times) forgetting all my passwords. I have tried all the suggestions I can find (deleting various system files etc) and nothing changes. The passwords work for several days, but eventually when I start Thunderbird it has lost all my passwords. This is something that started about two or three months ago; before that, I never had a problem.

P.S. Yes, I select "use password manager" (or whatever it's called) every time I have to put in the passwords.

Ever since a recent update, my animated wallpaper for Firefox only plays one frame, and then freezes. If i switch or refresh tabs sometimes it can trigger the GIF to start playing normally, but 90% of the time the background stays frozen, I don't think this issue is related to my PC because the wallpaper was working fine before the Firefox update, and I'm having the exact same issue on my laptop too.

I am wanting to automatically open the same set of websites each time I start Firefox without having to enter the information each time. This is possible with google chrome. Thank you.

I have 2 email accounts accessed by thunderbird, after the last update it appears that the secondary account is sending the incoming messages directly to the trash folder can you look into this or can I revert to the previous version?

Since yesterday (15 September 2026), my Microsoft Account has not been working properly. I managed to get round the problem by deleting my cookies. Then the update to version 156 was released, and after that Eule became incompatible. When can we expect an update to make it work again? Thanks.

For the past 3-4 days, I am unable to successfully add my Yahoo New Mail account to Thunderbird.

The app says it cannot authenticate my account, but Yahoo confirms Thunderbird's access.

I'm using Thunderbird Version 155.0.1 (64-bit). I reinstalled it after cleaning the installation of Windows 11 25H2 a few days ago.

Please help. I need to move all my Gmail messages to Yahoo, and Thunderbird is the only option I have.

The spacing between my Top Sites icons is way too large, making the grid look unnaturally stretched out and leaving too much empty space on the screen.Here is the weird behavior I noticed:When I run Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode (Safe Mode), the layout looks perfectly fine, tight, and compact — exactly how it used to be.If I use the "Refresh Firefox" feature, the compact layout returns to normal in the regular mode, but only temporarily. As soon as I launch Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode again and then switch back to the normal profile, the layout breaks once more, and the huge gaps between the shortcuts reappear.

Is there a way I can have Firefox permanently offer the option to generate a secure password? Many, many, MANY times Firefox will not recognize that a particular input field is for a password, and therefore does not offer the option to generate one. Considering everything on this forsaken planet requires creating an account now, this minor issue has become very common and annoying for me.

To reiterate: I would like Firefox to always offer to generate a password, regardless of how the input field is labeled or marked up. Thanks!

edit: I don't know how to delete this. turns out this is a known bug on firefox on linux. Firefox cannot actually save payment info, but doesn't serve an error to the user. however in the console it will throw a NS_ERROR_ABORT error: "User canceled OS unlock entry" error when it tries to save. the one solution i looked at seemed way too complicated for me so i am simply going to give up and try to keep my cc closer to me and not get frustrated when it doesn't work.

With the latest update to version 155, I lost all my tabs.

In my Settings, Startup, I do have checked "Open previous windows and tabs". This has worked many times after shutdown and restarting.

But this latest update did not start ver 155 with all my tabs. Has anyone else seen this? On Win 11 laptop. Steveg
