I have spoken to my ISP and its confirmed, as have I, that I can log on to its website and successfully download my emails so the problem "must" lie with Thunderbird. I am not very technically inclined so would appreciate some advice please, thank you. My ISP technical person (at iiNet Australia) did say they were receiving a lot of phone calls today about email and "blamed" it on changes to Outlook? If this helps. Regards.

I have two Windows 10 PCs, both running Thunderbird 115.3.0.

On one PC I have one account with POP3 and a few dozen entries that's been in use for several years.

I need to transfer just that single account to the other PC in a state that allows it to continue operating exactly as it had been in the original PC. I need to leave the other accounts (some POP3, some Gmail) working as-is.

During the upgrade to Thunderbird 115, my Gmail inbox disappeared under the unified Inbox folder at the top. I can find my Roadrunner accounts listed under the Inbox folder, but to get to my Gmail inbox, I have to go down the pane to the listed accounts, where all of the Gmail folders appear, including the inbox. I want all of my inboxes to appear under the Inbox folder at the top, just like the Thunderbird version I upgraded from. My Gmail account uses IMAP so that it works with Thunderbird.

Further to my problem in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1424732 where I describe a problem I have with accessing my mail server, I now have a self-inflicted new problem which merits a separate post.

I tried to fix the problem by uninstalling then reinstalling Thunderbird. I first put a copy of my Profile folder onto my desktop (it's 20GB, to big for the Export tool, apparently), uninstalled the product including my Profile and reinstalled Thunderbird. I then copied the backup Profile folder to the C:\Users\billh\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\ folder. I had assumed that the Profile would include all my account details (I had five accounts defined) and all the Local Folders where I have been archiving emails for 20 years, but none of these were restored when I started up the new Thunderbird. It was a blank canvas, asking me to define an account to get started, which I did.

I have seen other solutions to this given on the forum but they don't seem to apply specifically to my setup. Maybe they are for older versions. My Profile folder backup has three subfolders: 1oltjdxc.default, 1oltjdxcBKP.default and 5g4thnfjORIG.default-release My new install (after I copied in the backup) has five: The above three plus ewa0dnv6.default and pkon61kp.default-release

The previous solutions have been to look for files called 'prefs-n.js' where n is a number whose purpose I don't know, but apparently there can be more than one. Renaming the prefs.js file in one of the above folders to prefsBKP.js (or something) and renaming the prefs-n.js file that contains the account names to be included in TB to prefs.js seems to be the accepted solution. However each of the above folders except the '5g4...' and the 'ewa...' ones contain files called prefs.js containing references to the five accounts I had defined previously. None has a suffix number. The 'pkon...' folder has a reference to the one account I defined when starting up TB after the reinstall. I can't delete that account as TB won't let me.

Hope that's not too confusing, but the bottom line question is - how can I get TB to recognise the prefs.js with the full set of accounts and (quite important to me) all my archived emails? I'm assuming the folder called 1oltjdxcBKP.default is the 'master', but surely it would have been used when TB started up the first time after the reinstall?

However, it seems to me, perhaps, that pkon61kp.default-release has taken over from 1oltjdxc.default as the 'master'. Should I just rename the latter as the former (after renaming it as something else? And would it need a 'BKP' version too (presumably just a copy)?

Grateful for any advice. Bill (Windows 10, latest version of TB)

After the automatic upgrade to 115.2.2, I have lost access to all my folders, emails and calendar entries. But I can still see my addresses by using Tools/Address Book, and my filters by using Tools/Message Filters.

When I started Thunderbird for the first time on 115.2.2 I got to the usual message page which had all the tabs of the "open" emails I had when I last closed Thunderbird. But there was no sign of my folders and I couldn't get to any other messages (See first screenshot). I also had a second occurrence of Thunderbird running (I could have hit the icon a second time) that didn't show the tabs I had on the first screen. (No screen shot)

On a previous post here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1424153 it was suggested that I try Troubleshoot mode. That made no difference and at that time I had no folders showing, and just two tabs. I suspect after that I deleted the tabs.

Now I get a completely blank page in what is usually the message/folder area. Also the button for the address book above the message pane has now gone disappeared (Second screen shot), and I can find no way of accessing my previous (10years+ of messages).

It looks to me as if something is wrong in the profile.

Where do I go from here?

Upgraded from 102.15.1 to 115.2.2, now only displaying IMAP and NEWS, but no 'Local Folders'

C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\s897gjzg.default-release\Mail\Local Folders

The folders and files appear to be still there (above, and see images), but not displayed.

Filtering of IMAP messages is distributing messages to appropriate sub-folders within 'Local Folders', but once there, they can't be displayed.

How can I recover them?

Thanks.

Hello,

I've migrated Firefox and Thunderbird profiles from %appdata% dozens of times now, but noticed something odd last week when I migrated my previous computer's Thunderbird profile folder to new. I use Saved Searches extensively, and have dozens of them in various 'real' folders. (Real, as in, when I log into the web-based email systems that I have loaded into Thunderbird, I can see the folders - they just appear completely empty, which is of course accurate, because they only contain "thunderbird" things, not real email things.

My work requires me to use Office 365, and I had a few Saved Searches right on the "root" of that Account. Those ones survived the migration just fine and are working. However, I had a few subfolders on my old computer, things like "Companies" and "Coworkers" that each had a dozen saved searches in it for, obviously, companies I email with, and emails with specific coworkers.

None of those saved searches made it through the migrations; their folders are still there, but they are completely empty.

Is there any way I can do a migration that will capture these saved searches OR, even better, is there simply some internal database contents from my old computer I can get at, then just copy and paste that into the database of my new Thunderbird install? That'd save me some time not needing to migrate my 15GB thunderbird profile again.

I just found it interesting that my Saved Searches on the "Root" made it over, but the ones in Folders, did not!

Hello, I have two businesses. One I run from a PC desktop using Outlook for emails and the other I run from a laptop using Thunderbird for emails.

I'd like to now have both businesses on my PC so how do I migrate the laptop Thunderbird to my PC independently without Thunderbird taking over and merging both business emails into one.

I downloaded Thunderbird on my PC to prepare for the migration but it immediately started to download all my PC business Outlook emails even though I had unticked the default email client box when installing Thunderbird.

Can someone help please? Thank you.

I have installed Thunderbird version 115.2.0 on my Windows 7 pc. I want to migrate/convert all of my saved Live Mail messages and contacts to Thunderbird before I get a new computer. None of the Thunderbird add-ons for doing this are compatible with the 115.2.0 version. Maybe I could install an older version of Thunderbird, get add-ons that are compatible with that version, convert my data and then upgrade to the latest version of Thunderbird? Any suggestions?

I just completed changing the storage location for Thunderbird email messages, from AppData/Roaming to a new Thunderbird folder under Documents. This was to ensure that my computer quick-backup utility would save emails. I followed Mozilla instructions and all went well, everything seems still to work just fine, except that one POP email account shows nothing in the appropriate Thunderbird Inbox now. Sent messages show up, and new incoming messages to that account go into the Inbox and show, but all the old ones from before the location change just don't populate the Inbox listing area. The Inbox file at the new location has messages in it, I can see and read them with Notepad, but there's no corresponding Inbox message list for that one account. What could have gone wrong, and is it possible to somehow 'activate' the old messages so they show, or move them again from the original AppData/Roaming location to the new one? Thanks!

Profile from Thunderbird ver 91.xx from Ubuntu 22.04 cannot be imported into Thunderbird ver 102.15.0 bundled with Ubuntu 23.04. I have several copies of the pre-existing default profile.

Saved profiles are on thumbdrives formatted with linux Ext3/ext4 file system.

I have not successfully imported the profile from Tbird v91.xx to the new install of Tbird v102.15.

I have tried with the profile manager, opened from the command line with Thunderbird closed.

I have also simply copied the profile folder and renamed to existing default profile in new OS install that included Tbird v102.15.0.

I am thinking that if I installed a previous version of Tbird, my old profile might live again, but I have not found earlier versions of Thunderbird on the download page. I have a bunch of data in the old profile I would like to keep.

Any suggestions?

Hey,

I had to replace my Android phone and send the old one in. I had the google cloud backup activated + used the transfer data and apps function when migrating (Android to Android). However, it seems like my bookmarks are gone, I guess there is no way to get them back. Is this correct behavior?

I understand that there is Firefox sync and save feature (which I use on my personal device). However my understanding was that migrating phones with the "copy apps & data" function should migrate things seamless without having to worry about custom logins in each app. Did I do something wrong? Or is this understanding wrong? If so, would this be different in ios (this was a very painful experience that I don't want to repeat)?

Thanks for your help & sorry if this is only partially Firefox specific and partially about my general understanding.
