Recently we've began installing Firefox 140.2.0esr to our environment via the .msi file that Mozilla provides, however we're running in to a very odd incident.

After approximately 24 hours from installing Firefox esr to devices, it appears that the application is "updating" to 141.0.3 on the "release" channel. As far as I'm aware, this shouldn't be possible to begin with. But we've applied these settings via GPO:

Computer Config > Policies > Admin Templates > Mozilla > Firefox Application Autoupdate = Disabled Pin updates to a specific version = Enabled = Set to 140.2.0 Background updater = Disabled Disable Update = Enabled Manual Update Only = Enabled

After applying the GPO, confirmed this appears within the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\ AppAutoUpdate = 0 AppUpdatePin = 140.2.0 BackgroundAppUpdate = 0 DisableAppUpdate = 1 ManualAppUpdateOnly = 1

At this point, I'm at a loss. We cannot have rapid release be what's installed in our environment. Is there something broken with 140.2.0 or are we doing something wrong here?

Hello,

Moving from an older Ubuntu 18.04 machine where Firefox is limited to version 113 to a newer machine running Mint 22 where the current version is 134.

I know how to transfer the profiles but I could not find any information on compatibility.

Would I need to install other versions before 134 to handle any changes?

Thank you

Your latest request for donations has evidently come with a forced upgrade which I did not authorise. I have been happily using an older version of TB because it supports my add-ons and themes. Now because of your uninvited intrusion they no longer work. Furthermore it seems that I can no longer download an older version that supports my requirements. NOT HAPPY!

Since updating to 141.0 64 bit today (Jul 22, 2025) my addon Filtaquilla is disabled.

I tried another attachment saver and the same thing happened. Okay, I'll revert back to previous version.

Can't do that without starting a new profile.

Sure glad I donated to Thunderbird last night.

Apparently Windows 11 won't upgrade from v23H2 to 24H2 because the very nice cpu (and system) don't support SSE4.2 or PopCnt instructions. While v23H2 won't get updates after November of 2025, I tend to use operating systems WAY beyond no more updates without problems, and only upgrade when browsers no longer update and support some websites, notably banking and credit card sites, for example.

Any way to get at least a rough idea of when/how long Firefox will continue to update on Windows 11 23H2 so I can plan ahead? Usually it's a year or 2 or more after Microsoft stops updating the OS.

Thanks.

I'm running Firefox browser 88.0 (64) bit, and have been trying since before Xmas to upgrade it to a newer version. It's installed on an older Dell laptop running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (which I've also tried repeatedly to upgrade without success).

I've tried to upgrade both through the UI, but also tried using the command line in Terminal. Per advice in other threads, I've found the best mirror site and changed my settings to use that, but still no luck. Even the preliminary "sudo apt update" via Terminal fails; the first error tells me that the public key is not available. I assume that's the place to start, but don't know how to correct it.

I'm up against the deadline for updating my browser, and would very much appreciate any help you can provide. (Please note that I'm posting from a newer computer, so automatically generated info about my system won't apply. See the screenshots for that info).

I'm stuck using MacOS 10.14 right now, so I can't use anything newer. I know everything listed here is an old, unsupported release with its own security concerns. Let's get that out of the way. OK, good...

Right now, I'm on TB 102.15.1, and I'm wondering about TB 115. If I go to the About box, it's prompting me to update to 115.10.1.

If I read the release notes for 115.10.1, it says, rather worryingly:

Known Issues unresolved

After changing password on an IMAP account, the account could become locked due to too many failed login attempts.

Does anyone know if this particular bug was fixed via later releases in the 115esr series?

I'd rather not leave TB 102 if the above bug is still a concern.

Thanks!

Greetings.

I am using an old Linux Mint version. I got messages that my Firefox needed to be updated.

I finally figured out how to do that and updated it. I started to use it. No problems.

However, the update did not change the default Firefox in the menu or on the taskbar panel below. If I click on them, I get the old version.

So when I restarted the computer, when I clicked on the Firefox shortcut icon in the lower taskbar I got the old version with the tabs that were on it. I had to go back into the Firefox file downloaded for the update in order to open the new version.

So, how do I get a working shortcut icon for the new version and get rid of the old version/icon?

Thanks.

The latest Firefox release (141) on Android introduced a couple of new features marked as "progressive rollout", e.g. the ability to protect private tabs via PIN, while the release also brought regular updates, e.g. security fixes.

Does someone know how a progressive rollout of such a feature works technically for the userbase? How can a release be rolled out, but some of its features be kept back while other changes apply to all?

For example, the ability to set a PIN for private tabs is a local user preference configuration. The user may or may not have a user sync profile. How is it possible to rollout the feature progressively on the same release channel? Or does the progressive rollout imply the first group of users receive the feature with consecutive minor releases, e.g. release 141.1, the next group with 141.2, etc?

Can anyone tell me, please, how long I should be able to keep accessing Firefox on a Windows 10 tablet after Microsoft withdraws support for Windows 10 later this year? I seem to remember being able to access the internet on an old laptop as a 'test' a year or two after I'd stopped using it after Microsoft stopped supporting whatever version of Windows was on it, but I can't remember whether it was via Firefox or Internet Explorer or some other Microsoft browser. If Firefox will still 'work' will Microsoft withdrawing support for Windows 10 have any effect on how well it 'works', and/or how secure etc it will be? I am going to try to install some sort of Linux on the tablet (well) before Microsoft abandons Windows, but if it turns out I can't install Linux, I'm hoping I should at least be able to access the internet via Firefox. Thanks to anyone who can help. (ps I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post this question, it's just that performance and connectivity seemed to me [in my ignorance] to be most appropriate!)
