My old mail account is POP3 only. Incoming, POP3, mail.tpg.com.au, 110, STARTTLS, Normal Password Outgoing SMTP, smtp.tpg.com.au, 587, STARTTLS, Normal Password After many attempts Thunderbird 78 failed to add this new account.

After removing ver.78 an old ver.68 was installed and the new account was added without any problems on the first try using the settings shown above.

Does this indicate that Thunderbird v.78 is no longer compatible as a POP3 client or is this a serious bug?

I have been using TB for many years, but with the latest update to version 78 I cannot connect my Google contact list as the addon I used is not longer compatible. The suggestions I have read about is to use TBSync, which I have installed, but I can't get it to connect to my Google account. Each time I try autodiscover I get a message saying it has failed. I tried to manually enter the server name, but that wouldn't work either.

I can't find any support instructions in the Add In web site or on the Mozilla support site. Can anyone help?

Can I revert to an earlier version of Thunderbird?

Hello at Mozilla,

I tried the archives first and have the exact set up but the same error like others have had keeps coming up, server error, password failed, try again later, etc, yet all settings are correct. I closed my online email program, restarted TB, same error.

I also used SM for a long time, like over a decade I think. Every few years when I change out my laptop, I go through this and it takes days to re set up my email to a client.

I really like having my emails in my computer to go through on/offline. It doesn't appear SM will be supported anymore so on to TB, which looks very similar.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!! ~Kirch

Due to a System Crash at the end of October, I had to reinstall TBird 68.3 on Windows 10 (64 Bits). Since Nothing could be fixed, I upgraded TBird to V.84.0b3(64 Bits), hoping it would work better...

All my email Folders and their content reloaded themselves without any problem. However, my Contacts Folder remains empty and I have also been unable to find the correct Filters to receive any emails that have been sent to me since this Crash!

I am now desperate for help, so please don't hesitate to email me to "carl.bongaerts254@gmail.com" and please send a CC to my TBird email "info@tissim.com", just in case I find a solution in the near future!!! Thank you very, very much! Carl

The Mac Mail client I've used for years is falling apart under Big Sur. I mentioned this to a friend and he reminded me of Thunderbird - I had used it MANY years ago. I've recently converted to Firefox so this seemed like something to explore.

I downloaded it and entered the account info for my personal email via Sonic.net (POP) and work (via gmail). I was pleased to see the emails syncing for both accounts.

Until a couple of hours later when I noted that ALL my mail was gone on my laptop running Mail. I traced this to a DEFAULT setting of removing the emails from the server.

Please insert an expletive here.

You've got to be kidding me - this is the default? Is there ANY way I can get those emails back on the server? Luckily my work account still has the emails on the server.

I hope you can help.

-Johnny Klonaris

I have had this issue before and uninstalling and reinstalling has fixed it in the past. Today when I opened firefox it prompted me to update , which I did without thinking. Subsequently, it stopped working. I have tried: restarting my PC, running in troubleshooting mode( it wouldn't even open when I tried this), uninstalling and reinstalling using the internet installer, uninstalling and reinstalling using the offline installer ( tried on multiple hard drives, so I don't think hardware failure is the issue), installing an older version of fire fox, and installing the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version. The attached images show what displays upon trying to launch firefox. nothing loads, not typing an address into the search bar, not clicking on a bookmark, the only UI element that will display is the 3 horizontal line setting menu.

Does anyone have experience with this phenomenon:

When you click on a torrent link on a page opened in Firefox 83 (and above), the first window pops up, but the second one (in which uTorrent would come) is no longer. Nothing happens. Specifically, the entry is C: \ ProgramData \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WER \ ReportArchive \ AppCrash_uTorrent.exe....

If I revert to Firefox 82 or 78.6esr, the error will not occur.

If I choose not to download uTorrent but to download the torrent file, it works fine with all versions of Firefox.

Hello. I have Firefox set to notify me of new updates but though I always download them I don't immediately install them. My current version is 88.0.1.

Today I downloaded what I now know to be the all-new complete revamp version. But I don't want to install it on my main PC until I've looked into a little more and perhaps tried it out on a laptop. With it in

Is there a way of removing the downloaded version? With it in place, if I restart Firefox or reboot the computer it will automatically be installed, and I don't want that to happen just yet.

I'm running Windows 7 on a desktop PC.

Many thanks.

I was cleaning out my hard drive and deleting old installs of Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable packages, and I almost certainly deleted the one that Firefox relies on.

I then attempted to start Firefox, getting the error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I uninstalled, following the clean install directions, and deleting the "Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/" directory.

Then, I ran the Firefox Installer, newly downloaded, and when running it, it gives the same error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Selecting "Restore Defaults" has no effect either way. The installer then appears to complete in the background, and the Firefox directory is created, along with the executable.

When I run Firefox.exe, it seems to load the program, but any address I type in fails to begin loading. This includes websites (www.google.com) and help/utility pages (about:config). I'm therefore unable to change any settings within Firefox.

I then tried re-installing the "Visual C++ 2008" and "Visual C++ 2015-2019" packages in an attempt to restore that DLL, but that had no effect after repeating the same steps above (clean uninstall, re-install). Which VC++ Redist Package should I be re-installing? Ideally, I should be able to just get a copy of VCRUNTIME140_1.dll and place it where Firefox is looking for it.

I am running OS 13.6 on a Mac Mini. Everything was fine until the afternoon of 4/22. Then my TB stopped recogizing my outgoing server password. Even if I re-enter it, it does not recognize it. But it is running fine on an older computer and two iPhones. I've tried it with two different outgoing servers. So it's not the provider. I see that TB downloaded the upgrade to 78.10 around the time that this problem started.

This is the message that I get:

Sending of the message failed. Failed due to unexpected error 80004005. No description is available. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.optonline.net for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

Please help. Apple says it's a TB issue and they don't know what to do to help.

I used Thunderbird on my previous laptop for many years and sorted all my emails into subfolders of Local Folders. Since I bought my new laptop nearly a year ago, I've been using the browser version of Gmail instead, where I now have a new system of subfolders. I prefer this and don't want to go back to using Thunderbird to receive and file new emails, but I would like to use it to view the emails I received and sorted on my old laptop.

So is it possible to setup Thunderbird in such a way that it can view all of my old filed emails, but so that it isn't actually connected to my email account and doesn't receive new emails? I've read online about moving files into the 'Mail' subfolder of my Profile Folder, but I don't have a 'Mail' subfolder, even when I navigate to my Profile Folder through the Thunderbird help menu and set file explorer to show hidden files and folders. Maybe this is because the 'Mail' subfolder only gets created by Thunderbird when I link Thunderbird to an email account, which I don't want to do?

From my old laptop, I kept a folder called 'Local Folders', which contains subfolders such as Archives.mozmsgs and Archives.sbd, and another folder called '[my name].default', which I think must be my old Profile Folder because it contains a subfolder called 'Mail', among others.

At the time, I was confident these were the correct folders to keep in order to migrate my old emails to my new laptop. I hope I was correct, since I don't have access to my old laptop anymore (this is stupid of me).

Thanks in advance!

IMAP: outlook.office365.com Port: 143 SSL: STARTTLS

SMTP: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 SSL: STARTTLS

Normal Password

All the settings are retried by Thunderbird once I enter the IMAP and SMTP details.

However upon clicking done, there will be a message saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password"

I have verified the username and password is correct, and also IMAP enabled for this account, but keep getting password wrong message.
