Since the last update, I believe, because this error occurs constantly and with EVERY video. This is often, not always, the case immediately after updating FF. Now it was fine for a while, but now it's so bad that I'm having trouble watching YT videos properly. Reason: Browser open, logged in to YT. After updating firefox from 128.8.0 to 128.9.0, no embedded videos will play (youtube, instagram, plex, etc...)

The only way to get them to play is to run the browser in troubleshoot mode. Even a fresh browser profile doesn't work. Disabling hardware acceleration also does not work. Tried firefox 137.0.2 and that also does not work. Downgraded back to 128.8.0 and videos play flawlessly again.

I'm running firefox on gentoo linux on a thinkpad x13s (arm64) which uses Qualcomm Adreno 690 graphics.

Anything I should try would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

YouTube videos encoded at 60 frames per second are extremely choppy in Firefox only. Microsoft Edge plays the same videos perfectly.

I have deleted my profile and reinstalled Firefox, updated graphics driver to the latest version, and toggled hardware acceleration on and off. Nothing helps.

I am using FF desktop. All of a sudden, I get no sound through my laptop speakers when trying to watch videos (on YT and FB for example). I still get sound if I use external speakers through the 3.5" jack. I still get sound through other browsers, no matter if it's through the laptop speakers or external ones. So, it is definitely an FF problem. Sound works fine on all other media files on the laptop. Refreshing FF didn't fix it. Nor did reinstalling or restarting the laptop. I tried changing the autoplay settings as suggested in the help article, but still no laptop audio via FF. How can I fix this? Thanks

I suspect some update problem.

Whenever I play something in the browser while connected to my TV by HDMI, the sound still comes out of the laptop speakers. This happened suddenly, without any discernible reason, and I can't seem to fix it. Everything else works, only content played from Firefox remains in the laptop speakers. I've checked my audio mixer, nothing seems amiss, I've updated Firefox and refreshed the application, still nothing. Hell, I've even tried different cables and HDMI ports, but nothing works. I am running Firefox 144.0 on kubuntu 24.04.3 LTS I have lost sound on Firefox. I have opened the same sites in Chrome and the sound is working fine. It's only in Firefox. I have tried several sites including Udemy, YouTube, and radio programs, no sound from Firefox. The problem started in the middle of a Jit.Si session. All of a sudden the sound disappeared. I thought that restart Firefox would help, then restart the computer would help. But the problem has continued. The speakers is turned on the volume is up, just not a sound from Firefox. What to do?

When I load the video the page loads like normal, all comments and everything is there except the video square is not there. cant see the video, anyhow. even if i move my mouse cursor on it on the start page, the little video wont play the preview. no video player at all. anywhere.

I've noticed that whenever I press ⌥⇧Space (option-shift-spacebar) in Firefox Developer Edition, it causes the page to refresh.

the error i get on crunchyroll is code: DRM-0 and on spotify it loads but the play icon does nothing. in hbo max i get error code 1k-0003

I've seen many questions about this matter over the years, and thought I'd been lucky. Every link containing a .m3u file opened in my media player, WACUP. However ... after an update to version 143 it suddenly didn't. .m3u links opened as a text file in the browser window.

We have five windows 10 workstations in the home, and this happened with all of them.

I write webpages for a family intranet, and several thousand tracks are available for playing, so that was messed up too.

These are the steps I followed - unsuccessfully:

• Bulleted list item Checked file association settings in Windows 10. .m3u was associated to WACUP, my media player.
• Bulleted list item Checked file actions in Firefox. .m3u files set to open in WACUP.
• Bulleted list item Added the type="audio/mpgurl" in the anchor link for webpages I make.
• Bulleted list item Changed the default download panel in FF settings to "Ask". I could then get it to ask me to save or open. "Open" worked, as it this is tied to the system default audio player - nothing to do with FF.
• Bulleted list item A few other frustrating, but eventually inconsequential solutions that were in the realm of "I wonder if ...?"

So ... after all of this and a lot of investigation I noticed something interesting: All my playlists were in the format with just a listing of the filename, which as mentioned had been working for years:

Example "01 Queen - We Are The Champions.mp3".

Yet a playlist made in VLC had a different format: example,

SOLUTION

Having far too much time on my hands, I experimented with this, dissecting the various components of the playlist, and eventually found when adding "#EXTM3U" as the first line in the playlist, Firefox opened the playlist in WACUP once again when the link was clicked.

New playlist entry:

1. EXTM3U

01 Queen - We Are The Champions.mp3 02 ... 03 ... etc.

I've left the "type='audio/mpegurl" declaration in the link.

I don't know why this happened, but I hope somebody finds this useful in the future.

So now I have several thousand playlists to edit, although Notepad++ will make this easier, but by no means quick.
