I've been happily using Thunderbird for email for many years. Recently, the gmail OAuth2 requirement has made my POP3 accounts quit working. Currently on 38.5 for Windows 10.

Following various posts, I've tried to convert two specific email accounts to imap, and things are not going well.

My primary email is already imap and works fine. I've tried multiple times to convert the other two, and my current state is I've deleted those two accounts entirely (via Account Actions). When I try to install Existing Account, I eventually get to the point where the server config seems correct, but hitting "Done" results in the above message. I'd be surprised if imap.gmail.com can only support one email address. The emails are named differently, and use different passwords. Imap is enabled via browser based access to both accounts.

Incoming server imap.gmail.com:993 Outgoing smtp.gmail.com:465

I've read all the articles here about importing my passwords and history, but the Import Wizard is ONLY giving me the option to import my bookmarks. Even if I can't get the browsing history I need to be able to migrate my (extensive) password list.

I've exported my Safari passwords as a .csv file, but there doesn't seem to be an option to import a .csv file.

The page here regarding it says the feature is 'disabled by default' but does not say it's unavailable and I can't find clear instructions for how to activate the feature so that I can import my passwords. Can anybody help?

I realize that you all don't support the older version. Yet it's also the case that Apple won't update this El Capitan on my 2008 model (terrible, a crying shame, I know).

I've also tried to install your Extended Support Release. Will that work? I'm an independent research scholar, not currently associated with either Oxford or Stanford.

So I really need to have your Firefox back — I had it until this morning, when I needed to trash it (b/c of a bug), and then re-install. Yet I've not been able to re-install so far.

Hence, I'm seeking your help!

Thank you, Davy

Merry Christmas Everyone. I have been using thunderbird for email with windows 7 for several years, and it does exactly what I need. One thing I definitely need is my own folders for different incoming email. No problem with windows 7 but I cannot find how to make them with windows 11 (old laptop gave up - had to buy new one). Right click on existing default folders or email name does not offer the option. All folders is ticked, as is folder pane. Hope you can help. Thanks

Hello

Many thanks if anyone can simply answer these 3 queries for me!

I don't need explanations etc - even just a 'yes' or a 'no' would be sufficient for me. Or just clear step-by-step guidance as to how to do something.

QUERY: 1. Should I just wait and see if this latest version of Thunderbird will download itself automatically? . . (Though I'm getting fed up with this message coming up every time I go to my emails, and wish I could find a way to shut it up!).

QUERY: 2. How can I be sure that any new version of Thunderbird won't go and alter/remove any of the current features that I like and am accustomed to?

QUERY: 3. If I found it had altered/removed features that I liked etc, could I ever get these re-instated?

MY PROBLEM When I click on 'Download Thunderbird' nothing happens, except that I'm taken to here: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-GB/ No download happens, or not any that I can see. I feel like I've been taken to a 'cul de sac' instead!

Along with this message is always 'We'll help you download it'. Er.... what 'help'?

Hi,

I have 3 GMail accounts. I am the admin and sole user on all 3. I have just installed Thunderbird for the 1st time on a PC running Windows 10 Home, and am now trying to connect my accounts (using IMAP). These accounts have been connected on this same machine through MSOutlook for months, and have been working fine. I am connecting them across 2 different user profiles on the PC. Two of them have connected without issue, one on each of the user profiles, but with the 3rd, I keep getting the "Unable to log in at server..." error. The Name/email/password are all correct. I have tried connecting my 3rd email account (+New/Existing Mail Account) as the 2nd account on both of my profiles but I get the same error on both of them.

I have verified that Thunderbird is configured to accept cookies.

Is there some issue with having 2 GMail accounts linked to the same instance of Thunderbird?? (I hope not!! - that would be a complete deal-breaker!)

Is there anything else I can try?

Many thanks

I was following this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/run-firefox-chromeos

Installed flatpak and repositories but when I try to use flatpak to install firefox I get "No remote refs found similar to ‘firefox’".

I have tried following a few other ways to get it installed, such as using sudo and using sudo su but that has not worked at all.

I followed to flatpak quick setup on Chromebook guide that is linked in the above help article and created the nested containers in crosh as well.

below is what happens if I go to flathub and copy-paste their recommended command to install firefox.

Remote ‘flathub’ found in multiple installations:

  1) system
  2) user

Which do you want to use (0 to abort)? [0-2]: 2 error: Nothing matches org.mozilla.firefox in remote flathub

There are a lot of questions and answers around moving Windows Thunderbird data from one computer to another, and I have tried to follow all the advice, but still running into issues. One thing to note is that my "UserName" folder is different on my new computer, and I am trying to accommodate for that difference as well.

I've tried various ways to do this, each time uninstalling TB and deleting my Thunderbird folders in my \AppData\Roaming and AppData\Local\ to start fresh, but perhaps there is some registry key messing things up??

Steps Taken: I followed "Moving Thunderbird Data To A New Computer" article and YouTube video (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer) article, but it doesn't cover my situation with the new <UserName> folder. This is what I did:

1. Identified old Profile folder on OLDComputer. 2. Copied entire “Thunderbird” folder from OLDComputer. (Note, old <UserName> folder: “First Last”) C:\Users\First Last\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\4enlv7u2.default 3. Installed Thunderbird 91.4.0 on NEWComputer. 4. Started Thunderbird. 5. Did not set up an account. 6. Closed Thunderbird. 7. Replaced the Thunderbird folder in this folder Users\First\AppData\Roaming\ with the Thunderbird folder from my OLDComputer. 8. Start Thunderbird, and get error: “The file mailbox:///C:/Users/First Last/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/4enlv7u2.default/Mail/mail.blahblah.net/Inbox?number=7075&part=1.2&filename=STATEMENT.pdf&type=application/pdf cannot be found. Please check the location and try again.” 9. So, I edited profile.ini because the <UserName> path is different on this computer. • Updated “IsRelative” from 1 to 0. • Under the [Profile0] section, updated these two lines (Changed “IsRelative=” from 1 to 0), and replace the <username> in the path to just “First”:

IsRelative=0 Path=C:\Users\First\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\4enlv7u2.default

10. I refreshed or something, and got a dialog to Create/Rename profile. I renamed it from “default” to “First”. 11. I notice all my old email has loaded. 12. Then I restarted Thunderbird, but...

Got error: “Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.” Then it wont run.

What are my next steps, or how can I re-do this properly from scratch (I'm getting good at that) THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!

I need to transfer saved logins from Firefox on a soon to be retired laptop to Firefox on a new laptop. New laptop has a few logins created while setting it up than I copied manually knowing that when I import from the old laptop with many logins, the few on the new laptop will be overwritten. My problem is that Firefox can export logins into a logins.csv file but it seems can only import from a Microsoft browser. Is copying the key4.db and logins.json from the old to the new the only correct way to do this? The old laptops logins.json file has a recent date but the key4.db has a 2018 date even though some new logins were saved last month. Do I only need to copy the logins.json file?

Hello,

As the title reads, I'm trying to keep my browser settings including all the tweaks I have painstakingly made to "about:config" as well as the extensions.

I have done this before on a windows machine and it's quite straight forward in just having to copy the profile folder to the firefox installation in the appdata directory on another machine.

I have gained root access on both devices and a root permissioned file explorer to copy the profile to an SD card that I can trasnfer between the phones. Once the profile folder is copied to the data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/files/mozilla directory and the fresh installation of firefox executed on the new device, firefox instantly crashes.

What am I missing?

We have around 1000 Firefox installations on our government organization, all installed via the Firefox MSI installer. Unfortunately, we came late to realize that the Firefox ESR would be a much more suitable product, compared to the normal Firefox branch.

Now, some years ago we would simply mass uninstall the normal Firefox and mass install the (latest) ESR version and all would be well. Problem is that we have to keep existing profiles (including passwords/bookmarks etc), something that is not supported in the latest Firefox builds.

Can anyone offer some advice/"hacks" to accomplish this? Note that whatever we'll do, we'll have to do it automatically, we lack the man-power to do this manually on a system by system basis...

Thanks in advance for any information provided.
