Sometime ago, Thunderbird stopped being able to connect with my GMail and Hotmail email accounts. I guess this had something to do with the change to OAuth authentication. I then switched over to Yahoo accounts which worked perfectly until last night when I installed the latest update, i.e. 153.0.1esr (Meadow). Now, I cannot connect with ANY account whatsoever. Thunderbird just stopped working in my two Windows 10 laptops and it does not seem to work on the Windows 11, either, although I have only tried Gmail accounts on that one (without the update), as I cannot possibly be left without an email handler.

If I try to download my emails, I get a screen that tells me that I should “Turn-off ad blockers“ and “Enable JavaScript“ in my browser, but I have tried several (4) browsers as default with the same result. I don’t have either ad blockers or cookie restrictions in any one of them and JavaScript is enabled in all (it is now by default).

I have downloaded and installed “eM Client” and it works *perfectly*. However, I would loathe to have to abandon Thunderbird and get used to an entirely new program, but which is what I will have to do if this thing is not resolved ASAP.

As mentioned, I think there has to do with the OAuth authentication system.

I have even tried ChatGPT, without success!

And there is no way to revert to the previous version !!!!!

Please do something NOW, or it is, regrettably, goodbye Thunderbird!

Whenever I shop online, when I start to input my credit card number at checkout, the last 4 digits of every credit card I've ever used comes up in Autofill. All I have to do is select one, then select its exp date, and it fills in the slots automatically. I find this very convenient, and I trust that it's secure as long as the site itself is. BUT by now, several of the cards that come up have either expired or are no longer in use. HOW DO I DELETE THEM FROM FIREFOX' AUTOFILL LIST? Please help--I've been unable to find the answer to this Q, though I've thoroughly searched. I'm losing patience. I don't want a lot of unused/expired cards on your Autofill. Thank you! Hi using 153esr and Win11

I have my emails on an encrypted drive. Until now if I closed Thunderbird I would have to enter my Master/Primary password before and emails would show, i.e they were protected from casual view.

Now if I type [cancel] at the request for a password, twice in a row than all my emails are visible.

I though it may be this new thing where the [close] icon functions differently, but even if I close via the menu File > Exit it seems Thunderbird still has access to my emails without authorisation.

Any ideas would be useful

When I use Facebook with my Firefox browser the site just has to many issues. The site keeps hanging up and just sort of stalls out when I try to access messages and notifications that I download from the site. I took the suggestion of clearing my cache. That did nothing. Clearing my history didn't make a difference either. Being this problem doesn't happen with Chrome or Safari, it must be a Firefox problem. So, what more can I do to make using Facebook with Firefox a better experience? Sure would appreciate help.

What is the best way in TB of organising the storage of email messages on my local storage device:

• Many folders/subfolders, each containing a limited number of messages?
• Few / One Archive folder containing all messages, each message tagged with one or more tags for easy search/retrieval?

I would prefer the latter, but I am unsure if there are any limitations to how many messages that can be stored in one folder i TB.

• Are there any practical limitations regarding the no. of messages in one folder?

Firefox popped up an offer to change the screen to dark, which I did. I don't like it, want to change it back. I went to settings but was unable to make the change.

Hi. Please could you guide me through moving my email messages from a POP3 account on one Mac to another? I have an old iMac (late 2015, Monterey) that I am tearing down for parts, but this has been my main Thunderbird computer. It is running the latest version of Thunderbird (153.0.2), as I updated it to do the Export. I am trying to move my email accounts onto my M1 Macbook Pro. When I first installed Thunderbird on the Macbook I was delighted to see that my data and settings for the IMAP accounts had somehow miraculously (to me!) migrated. But I have a POP3 account which has only partially moved across. It seems to be receiving new emails, but all the Inbox history is missing, and other folders such as Drafts and Sent are not there either, I just have Inbox, Spam and Deleted. I have tried your Export/Import method twice, but to no avail. In the expanded profile on my USB stick I can see Mail>mail.oddplanetstudios.co.uk which looks like it might contain all the files and messages. Now I want to move them across into Thunderbird, but I don't know what the steps are to do this. I would be very grateful if you could lead me through this, if it is indeed what I need to do, or give me some directions to do it differently. Many thanks.

Running on Windows 11. There are many supposed "solutions" on the Web, but none of them work. I have tried with: about:config, css files, etc. None of them work.

I like Firefox greatly, but this is so frustrating.

The developers have created a solution to a problem that didn't exist. The result is to make Firefox user clumsy.

It would have been nice if they - at the very least - had provided a way to change the 'Profiles' icon position on the menu.

Again, Firefox 153.0.1 (64-bit) on up-to-date Windows 11. Amd Ryzen 5, 6 core processor, 32 GB Ram, 500 GB SSD C drive = 197 GB free.

The SEND button has vanished in Thunderbird. I don't recall changing anything or performing any updates, though my memory is getting to be unreliable.. In addition, the LINK button has vanished as well. I imagine I did or am doing something stupid and it's an easy fix, but what that might be totally escapes me..

I keep getting a notice from Google to do a scan because I have been hacked and have a virus. I have done a Mozilla scan that reports no problem. What is going on? The message wants me to install a security app I am not familiar with.

I live in Europe, where this stupid age verification law is in effect. I get around this by using a VPN. The problem is that I have two Firefox profiles set up with the same VPN and the same country. The issue occurs on X (formerly Twitter). On one profile, the VPN works as it should and I no longer need to verify my age, but on the other profile, the VPN has no effect and X (Twitter) asks me to verify my age. Yet the VPN is definitely enabled. I’ve cleared the cache and cookies, but nothing helps. It’s driving me crazy. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

My FireFox was updated to version 153 and all of my bookmarks are gone. I tried to restore them in Manage Bookmarks. But when i click on 'Import and Backup', then 'Restore', then click on 'choose file' nothing happens. I navigated to the directory "bookmarkbackups" and I can see several backups, one dated 08/06/2026. But how do I get Manage Bookmarks to see that file?

I tried to bookmark a current tab and it does not show up under Bookmarks. why can't I set a new bookmark? Are these issues related?

For the Troubleshooting data, I manually open about:support and clicked on 'Copy text to Clipboard'. Then pasted that into the box below.

When writing a new message, the Menu bar does not display so I cannot Send a composed message. This happened all of the sudden, and I have unsuccessfully searched to find out how to restore the Menu Bar. My 32 bit Thunderbird is up to date. Up to date Windows 11, & Firefox (default browser). I didn't know I need to keep a device on if I want to sync my old data. I read it thoroughly. This is annoying, I don't want to lose my Sync data from this because I didn't know. How do you guys retain your Sync data if I were to reset my password? My computer just got fixed and I don't like this greeting of where all my data like history and bookmarks flushed down because I wasn't signed-in in a device nor did I place a key or something.
