Loss of data is always a bear and the 'procedures to recover lost emails' don't always work as designed

The first concern is emails I save in local folders with topic labels.... they are saved for documentation purposes and to be able to refer to them without saving them in the account 'new' mail folder.

The second concern is the 'address book'

Now, the big one - How can I save these 2 items in an automatic backup drive? I have a thumb drive and have downloaded their program and instructions. The BIG question is what files do I identify to be backed up every time something changes - the original email file, new emails, the original address book file and every time an entry is changed in some way ?

Big thanks - a solution can save lots of money at drug stores!

I update software on a regular schedule, and would prefer to not have Firefox (136.0) nag every few minutes that I'm not on the latest and greatest. 120.0.1 only nags a little. How can I turn the nagging totally off?

I added the following to `~/firefox/distribution/policies.json`, but it didn't help.

``` {
   "policies": {
       "DisableAppUpdate": true,
"DisableSystemAddonUpdate": true, "DisableTelemetry": true, "ManualAppUpdateOnly": true, "AppAutoUpdate": false,
   }
} ```
All of my addons are disabled and won't re-enable!
They all say "addon name" could not be verified for use in Nightly and has been disabled. See attachment clipboard00.jpg
If I try to install an addon from the recommended extensions settings (for example "return youtube dislike ") I get a message bubble stating "The Addon downloaded from this site could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt. {OK!}" See attachment clipboard01.jpg
The message above about addons appearing to be corrupt happens if I go to any of my current addon pages and try to redownload them.
At some point in the last few weeks -- possibly after an upgrade -- I've noticed that some websites such as the Washington Post and Fidelity can take minutes rather than seconds to load. The problem doesn't seem to be with the sites themselves (because they load fine on Chrome) or with my hardware (because exactly the same thing happens on both of my computers). Has anyone else noticed this?
( I'm running Firefox 131.0.3 on Windows.)
I can't figure this out. I've been having this issue ever since I deleted my KMspico files after I did a scan using Malware Bytes (it was labelled as dangerous files or whatever so I let the app delete it).
After the restart, I can't use nor reinstall the Discord app along with being unable to download any Extensions, Themes, or Plugins for both Firefox and LibreWolf. It's frustrating as I had to go back to previous browsers, which I didn't want to do. Any help in fixing this is highly appreciated as I really want this fixed.
--- File location is C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreWolf [Same for Firefox]
--- Must I reinstall Windows in order to fix this issue or are there other ways that don't involve reinstalling Windows?
When loading webpages, it will often take 60-90 seconds to load the page. I've only seen this happen when loading the page for the first time, once it loads navigating through subpages is seamless. It doesn't seem to be tied to any particular domain, I've had it happen randomly on gaming websites, tech websites, even google searches. The most notable coincidence is that in the networking tab of the developer console, it always(?) takes almost exactly 30 seconds on DNS resolution, 30 seconds on Connecting, sometimes a 30s Blocking element, and then the remainder is near instantaneous; screenshot attached. My network is fine, I'm able to play low-latency games without issue, and Chrome is not exhibiting the same behaviour.
Things I've tried to resolve:
  • Restarting computer -- issue has been persisting for months
  • Created a new Firefox profile -- still showing the same behaviour
  • Disabling all addons/testing Troubleshoot Mode
  • Proxy settings in Firefox -- No Proxy and System proxy settings are both showing the behaviour
  • Disabling DNS over HTTPS
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Protecting Your Privacy and Security Online: Why Mozilla Stands Out
In today’s digital age, privacy and security have become more important than ever. With increasing concerns about data breaches, online tracking, and surveillance, it’s crucial to choose tools and platforms that prioritize your safety. Mozilla, the organization behind the Firefox browser, has long been a champion of user privacy and security. Here’s why Mozilla stands out in the crowded tech landscape and how it helps you stay protected online.
1. A Commitment to Privacy Mozilla’s mission is rooted in the belief that the internet should be a global public resource, open and accessible to all. Unlike many tech giants that profit from collecting and monetizing user data, Mozilla operates as a non-profit organization. This means their focus is on serving users, not advertisers.
Firefox Browser: Firefox is designed with privacy in mind. Features like Enhanced Tracking Protection block third-party cookies and trackers by default, preventing companies from following your online activity.
Strict Anti-Tracking Policies: Mozilla actively works to limit cross-site tracking, ensuring your browsing habits remain private.
2. Transparency You Can Trust Mozilla is transparent about how they handle your data. Their privacy policy is clear and easy to understand, and they regularly publish transparency reports detailing government requests for user data. Unlike many other companies, Mozilla doesn’t sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
3. Cutting-Edge Security Features Mozilla doesn’t just focus on privacy—it also prioritizes security to keep you safe from online threats.
Firefox Monitor: This free tool lets you check if your email or passwords have been compromised in a data breach, helping you take proactive steps to secure your accounts.
Password Manager: Firefox’s built-in password manager securely stores and generates strong passwords, reducing the risk of hacking.
HTTPS-Only Mode: This feature ensures your connection to websites is encrypted, protecting your data from interception.
4. Fighting for a Better Internet Mozilla isn’t just about building great products—it’s also a vocal advocate for digital rights. The organization campaigns for stronger privacy laws, fights against mass surveillance, and supports open-source initiatives. By using Mozilla products, you’re supporting a movement that champions a free and open internet for everyone.
5. Open-Source and Community-Driven Mozilla’s open-source model means anyone can review, contribute to, or audit their code. This transparency builds trust and ensures that the software is free from hidden vulnerabilities or malicious intent. It’s a collaborative effort to create a safer internet for all.
How You Can Take Control of Your Privacy Here are a few steps you can take to enhance your online privacy and security with Mozilla:
Switch to Firefox: Ditch browsers that prioritize profit over privacy and make Firefox your default browser.
Enable Enhanced Tracking Protection: Go to Firefox settings and ensure tracking protection is turned on.
Use Firefox Focus: For mobile browsing, try Firefox Focus, a lightweight browser that automatically blocks trackers and erases your browsing history.
Stay Informed: Follow Mozilla’s blog form mozilla site and campaigns to stay updated on privacy issues and how to protect yourself.
Hi, We are using Horizon VDI terminal server. Firefox is installed on these servers. Some users get Firefox is already running but is not responding error. Ending Firefox via task manager does not work. I log off the user and have them log in again, but it does not work.
When I check, I see that the user's profile file cannot be created on any terminal server.
Is there a solution to this problem?
I normally use Firefox Developer Edition, version 127 because any later version always freezes my whole computer (probably because I'm using a 15-year old PC). Recently all my extensions became disabled. I'm now also unable to install any extension because it says "Installation aborted because the add-on appears to be corrupt". I found some instructions on Mozilla website about deleting compatibility.ini and extensions folder, but it didn't solve the issue. Now I'm stuck and confused as I suspect some of the extension files that should be in my Profile folder may not be there.
The simplest solution in this case would be to use the "Refresh Firefox" option which resets everything to default settings, but every time I do it my computer freezes until rebooted. Uninstalling and reinstalling manually is also not the way to go, because it retains all the settings.
I've tried installing the standard Firefox browser (v. 119) alongside the Developer Edition but the same issue is there as well.
I'm looking for an alternative way to get a clean Firefox install, so I can fix my extensions.
Additional info: - Your system specs? Windows 10 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, Pentium Dual-core, no GPU - Hardware acceleration? Disabled. - Using any mods? Yes, two. Geckium for Firefox, which always works fine. The recent issue started when I played around with Revert8Plus, but it initially worked without issues.
