Good day,

Firefox Synchronization restores my old data as soon as I sign in, even though I do not push synchronization.

I have absolutely no power to decide what gets restored. I do not see any possibility to update the data stored on my Firefox profile online.

But the oddest behavior is that I opened a new account from another PC in order to save my actual Firefox data. I then synchronized my data from the first PC with the new account, and this time, instead of overwriting my local data from my new account, it is the data from the new account that got overwritten from my local profile containing the old data.

To sum up things, it seems that:

- I cannot choose what gets saved or restored neither on my PC locally nor on my Firefox profile online.

- When I synchronize Firefox, my data gets randomly overwritten either on my PC locally or on my profile online, without giving me the choice to either backup or restore these data.

Is there any way to avoid this ? And how do I choose if synchronization overwrite my local profile from my online one or the other way round ?

I would like to be able to download YouTube videos.

Is there a Firefox add-on that will allow me to download YouTube videos onto my MacMini?

I tried Video DownloadHelper and YouTube Video Downloader and didn't see any action.

Do I need to setup settings a certain way to make it work?

What are the steps to make it work?

How could i restore the bookmarks that i mistakenly deleted? Going back to the sync from 2 weeks ago, I don't have any of my bookmarks at all, I don't have them locally saved, the deletion happened before I reinstalled the operating system

Hello Firefox, hope this email finds you well.

I am in a bit of a fix at the moment and would very much appreciate your assistance. The problem is I was using Firefox on my old windows account (same PC, new OS). Unfortunately my system crashed so I had to reinstall a new OS, with that I was not able to make any backups of history or passwords and I really need them, they are very important to me. I used this same email for it and I also have this same email on another laptop which is windows 10.

Please kindly assist me in this regard, I want my history and passwords back. How do you suppose I go about getting them, I am up for any and all verification to prove it belongs to me. I can list some websites I have accessed and saved its credentials and any other info you might need. I plead with you to help me get these back please.

I'm not sure what type of issue this is, so hopefully I’ve posted it in the right place!

Devices:

• Firefox version 133.0 on 2022 M2 MacBook Pro OS Sequoia 15.1.1
• Firefox version 133.0 on iPhone 16 Pro Max iOS 18.1.1 (*for reference, of checking issue, not where issue is occurring)

Issue Breakdown: While updating my bookmark's tags in Bookmark Manager, my tags all but disappeared and other strange things started happening.

• My tags aren't in the sidebar menu of the Bookmark Manager at all. See Screenshot 1.
• Already tagged bookmarks retained the tags, but I’m unable to edit, add, or remove bookmark tags at all. When the bookmark is selected, the bookmark’s tags, nor any other tags, appear in a list under the bookmarks tags. See Screenshot 2.
• I can locate all bookmarks with the same tag by searching bookmarks in the Bookmark Manager.
• I can move and rename pre-existing bookmarks.
• I can add new bookmarks (confirmed by the blue star beside the address bar on the main browser after exiting and re-entering), but I cannot find those bookmarks anywhere in Bookmark Manager.
• My mobile bookmarks folder isn’t shown in Bookmarks Manager, but I can view 11 bookmarks in my Mobile Bookmarks folder on my phone’s Firefox application.

I’ve tried the following:

• restarting Firefox by quitting the application
• refreshing Firefox through the browser [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-se...]
• restarting my computer
• clearing the startup cache
• clearing the cache [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache|link]
• restarted in Troubleshoot Mode [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubl...]
• uninstalling then reinstalling Firefox software

I have no idea what is wrong with it or what is going on. What else can I do?

On 10/5/2024 I suddenly had no access to my saved passwords for websites, all my bookmarks were gone and no autofill works anymore. I have searched and searched for anything relating to these missing saves in password manager, I've used EaseUS, I've tried system restore. It's like my my saves were completely wiped! When I did a system restore, Firefox uninstalled itself completely when it shouldn't have. Now it's like I never had Firefox on this pc and there's no history or anything dated before today 10/6/2024. I've tried import from other browsers and there's nothing there. I'm a bit upset here, is my history, saved passwords, bookmarks and, autofill just gone and irretrievable?

I have Firefox browser and ATT internet and email. I was unable to load email today until I spoke with live ATT tech support. He instructed me in clearing cache and cookies, had me open a private window, then asked me to open another window. He did get my ATT email restored, but when I had 2 windows open I accidentally closed my main window which had many pinned tabs and other tabs I wished to get to. Yes, too many tabs! So I have a new browser which does not have the configuration I want which is the one I had when I first called ATT. So I made a mistake and closed the wrong browser, I knew it as it happened but it was too late, I guess speaking with and listening to the tech messed up my concentration. I have made this mistake before and closed the wrong browser but fumbling around somehow I managed to recover the browser I wanted, I don't remember how exactly. I think it has been a couple of years since I screwed up this way. The History section of my Firefox menu does not offer a selection called 'restore previous session' that the instruction page shows, the only options at the top are Recently closed tabs, Recently closed windows, Search history. Then a bar followed by Clear Recent history, then today's history in the new browser. So I only get history from today's new browser. I am old and not tech savvy there is a lot of terminology I do not understand, I need a kindergartner's step by step instruction on this I am afraid, in clear English. I am afraid to do things like refresh or reinstall without knowing what I am doing. I appreciate your help. I use desktop Firefox for email, reading items of interest, social media, ordering merch. I recently reinstalled my Linux system, Parrot OS, which comes with Mozilla Firefox. Unfortunately, I forgot my Firefox password, which forced me to reset it to log in.

Since this reset, Firefox no longer loads my bookmarks, extensions, or saved accounts.

Does anyone have suggestions for recovering this data? Is there a way to find my old profiles or backup files?

After a routine system restart due to display driver crash my Mozilla Firefox ceased to work, displaying a broken link. After some messing around I decided to reinstall the application, but when I did it was an entirely new instance with none of my local saved data (bookmarks, passwords, history etc). I've been able to restore my bookmarks, but not my passwords. I've found the relevant key4.db and logins.json files pertaining to the older intall, but I have no idea how (if possible) to install them, and I assume there would only be a compiled csv if I created it.

When I logged my account. click sync, data does not sync.

Firefox was crashing so I found the folder in C:Program Files and renamed it before a new install. I downloaded the new Installer and installed Firefox again thinking all would be saved, but now, my bookmarks are missing and the history from the last few weeks are gone and started with the date I re-installed it. I have an old AT&T email that is now Yahoo and been using it for years. I tried to log in and I get a different screen asking about an ID which I don't have. Firefox always launched showing this icon to start yahoo as well as Chase Ect...ect and all are gone.

Is there a way to point to the old folder, after changing it back to original name and get back to previous version?

I did find another Mozilla file under Users,ComputerName,AppData, Local. I don't know if it was created with the new install or there before and just updated because I renamed the first file I found and now it's using C:Users to start Firefox. Any help getting back to where I was is appreciated.

Need help finding my old bookmarks on my hard drive that might have been erased when I did a reset Windows 10 install. Unfortunately, I had to restore my hard drive, and the Windows 10 tech advisor didn't tell me to save my Firefox bookmarks before I started the restore process. But the bookmarks might still be somewhere on my computer? And I don't think I ever created a Firefox account. So I don't think Firefox saved them.

I have logged in in a new device with my firefox account and I can´t see anything of my backed up data.

Passwords, bookmarks, pluggins are gone... And I checked before that I had my sync on and everything was synced.

Before that, I added a secondary email and then put it as primary. Could you please check?

It keeps recurring. This time it took 3 weeks from the time that last post. As I said in the past post, the problem is a corrupted 'sessionstore.jsonlz4 file.

My evidence is that when i ran about:support - Troubleshooting, the problem was still happening.

I just mounted a backup profile, created during the last incident. Works fine. I took the sessionstore.jsonlz4 from that backup and replaced the one in the problem profile.

After doing the replacement, the problematic profile symptoms have disappeared. At least for now, that is.

But now, I have to restore the missing portion of the session (tabs/history) created between the last occurrence and now, because of the replacement of the corrupted sessionstore.jsonlz4 with the backup.

Nobody has offered a way to do this that is not a time consuming ordeal.

What would you do?

Thanks to a Microsoft update my PC had to have Windows reinstalled causing me to lose all my apps. I have reinstalled Firefox on the PC but of course, all my bookmarks and passwords are missing. I had set up syncing between my PC and my Android mobile devices (phone and tablet). Can I restore or sync from the mobile device back to the PC? I have searched and found nothing. Even when signed into Firefox on the phone, it does not bring up "Sync" when I go to settings. I truly appreciate your help.

Hi, A few weeks ago, I wanted to sync my open Firefox tabs between my old laptop and my new one. I signed in to my Mozilla account on both computers, and the sync process worked just fine. For weeks, my synced tabs appeared in my Firefox sidebar on my new laptop, and all was good. However, the other day, I had to restart my computer a few times, and when I open Firefox again, my synced tabs were gone. On my Mozilla account page, it still says that I am signed in to my old laptop. How can I see my synced tabs again? Thank you very much for your help!
