Is there such a thing as a downloadable user manual for thunderbird?
I would like to keep a comprehensive Users Manual (PDF?) offline. Is there such a thing, or am I just being "old school"?

I have added my gmail account to TB and it downloads all the folders and emails correctly, but as soon as I try to move an email with an attachment from a local folder to a folder on the gmail acount I get "Connection to server imap.gmail.com timed out" errors.

I am trying to help move an email account which was POP onto IMAP so they can have their emails on a couple of other devices other than their desktop. The issue is they have hundreds of folders in their local folders. I have setup their IMAP and have tried to copy over a few folders at a time onto the IMAP account, however I find that Thunderbird struggles with copying them and there are just so many that I can see myself getting in to trouble in a minute with duplicate folders in both locations.
I thought of a work around which appeared to work where I went into the Thunderbird profile for the user and copied the email folders from the local folders onto the newly created IMAP account. I then opened Thunderbird up in "Offline" mode and checked all the emails were there. They were which was great however as soon as I went online all the folders disappeared. I am guessing that this is the server overriding the local email client. How can I stop this happening and force the server to mirror what is showing on Thunderbird?

i have an old win10 machine with a huge thunderbird profile - 37.9GB size / 75.2GB disk. i'd like to move it with Tools Export / Import to a new win11 machine.
on win10 i click thru tools > export > open profile folder
and in ...\thunderbird\profiles i select yhcc00j7.dan and export it to an external ssd.
it runs for hours and then a number of these appear: "Are you sure you want to copy with file without its properties? The file %2B...." has properties that can't be copied to the new location.... Type WDSEML file size 1.02KB....".
so i check "Do this for all current items" and hours later it finishes.
on win11 i click thru tools > import > import from another thunderbird profile > choose a profile and select the folder yhcc00j7.dan on the ssd and import everything > start
for a minute or so it says "importing .... 0%" but no new profile shows up in ...appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\ and then "import failed unexpectedly" is displayed.
i've tried this twice. both machines have version 115.11.1 "esr update channel". what am i doing wrong?

Windows explorer shows file properties and a signature for mozilla.
Is there a way to manually unpack the .exe? Someplace that issues are logged with more data (which file is corrupt?) There is a progress bar that flashes by part way, then a popup window with the file corrupt message.
(Trying to update to hopefully get rid of some crashes.)
Is there a hash for that .exe I could check?

Hi, I’m trying to move from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit). Using the import wizard fails. Tools > Import select Import From Outlook and the following message appears. “Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client can not fulfil the message request”. I’m taken back to the Import from screen with the addition of a red panel with “No Profile Found” on it. Outlook 2003 is the default e-mail client, checked more than once. I’m trying to migrate to thunderbird so I have no account setting, thinking they would be imported. My pst’s files have been moved to a directory on a different partition to the Outlook programme, tried creating a dummy profile using default Outlook storage and still fails. I’ve looked at converting pst files to mbox, but this doesn’t see to include the account settings. But I could add them manually or I can not import the mbox files or directory structure into Thunderbird. I’ve been messing around trying other things but nothing works. Internet searches, Thunderbird forum searches suggests solutions but all fails and the steps don’t match Thunderbird menu, etc in many cases. I’m stuck. Can anyone give any advice on how to migrate from Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird. Tools, Add-Ins or manual methods, anything just to get me up and running. PS I’ve two pst files, one is the default main Outlook.pst and the second a secondary store I created in the folders of Outlokk called Store.pst, beside the none default storage location everything else is standard for Outlook and Thunderbird.

There is always a .zip file in the candidates and beta versions releases. Why can't we have a .zip file version of the stable releases?

I am the tech admin at my school and one of my user's hard drives is totally full. I ran a sorted disk space command and found that the folder ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/5itb4j1n.default/ImapMail/imap.googlemail.com is 57GB. The hard drive is only 120 GB! Needless to say, I need to get this off the computer. It is a MacBook Air M1 running OS Sonoma 14.1.1 (can't upgrade because no disk space!)
The user accesses her Gmail through Thunderbird. There are messages in her Thunderbird history that are not available to her in Gmail because she integrated Thunderbird previously with her Yahoomail (before we switched to Google for our mail server). So we cannot delete Thunderbird because she needs it to be able to access old emails.
I'd like to know some options for having her continue to use Thunderbird (because she likes its layout) but without Thunderbird downloading and keeping a copy of every message/attachment that arrives.
I also want to know the best way to backup her existing Thunderbird and then be able to access it in the future, so that if she does need to access her historical archive of email messages, she can.

I went through the list of versions (thanks Mozilla that they all are still available!) and found that the last version I can install is... version... 12.0b6. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/12.0/system-requirements/

Hi, I am running Thunderbird v. 115.9.0 on Windows 10 on my desktop. I have been forced by Rogers in Canada to migrate my internet service from their legacy internet service to Rogers Ignite with its Ignite (Comcast) gateway. My email accounts were supposed to be migrated automatically, but, for reasons unknown, were not, and a tech support representative had to migrate them from the old legacy service to Ignite. After that was done, I opened Thunderbird, and was asked to authenticate my 2 Rogers/Yahoo email accounts, one of which is my primary account, the other a secondary account. I was asked to authenticate the secondary account first, which went well. I then clicked on my primary account in the left-hand pane and was again asked to authenticate, but the dialogue box showed it was for the secondary account. Thinking that this secondary account authentication was just being repeated for no particular reason, and not thinking that the email address in the authentication request box could be changed, I clicked Agree. My primary account is now showing the exact same emails as are listed in the secondary account, and I'm extremely concerned that I will not be able to recover all of the thousands of emails in my primary account, many of which are business-related. When I log into my primary account on the Rogers/Yahoo mail website, the emails in the primary account are still showing, so I know they are still on the Rogers IMAP server. However, I really want to continue to use my primary account on Thunderbird. I'm not sure if I should delete the primary account and recreate it - the Rogers support tech said that deleting the account may result in an issue where my current password for a re-created primary account may not be recognized, so I'm leaving things as they are until I hear back. It the advice is to not delete and recreate the account, what steps can I take to recover the emails on my primary account in Thunderbird. I have followed the instructions provided, and copied the profile (renamed) into the folder on the new laptop. When I run "thunderbird.exe-p" I receive a message "cannot find Thunderbird.exe-p" and asked to try again, but without success. I would be grateful for help on this problem. With thanks Alan

I have downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox on a new computer through the Edge browser both from the Mozilla site and through the Microsoft store. The installation downloads and installs as it should. Firefox has been selected as the default browser and everything appears as it should. When I open Firefox and type in an address, nothing populates. No site will open on the screen. When I open settings in Firefox, nothing opens. When I open history, it shows that I have been to the sites that I have loaded even though they haven't shown on the browser. I have completely uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it with the same result. I have downloaded Opera browser and it installs correctly, I have downloaded and installed Firefox from Opera and had the same result. Any ideas?

We are deploying the 32-bit version of the Firefox Browser to 4 700 clients and the 64-bit version to only 8 clients; all clients on a 64-bit Windows 10 environment. We will migrate to Windows 11 22H2 this year. The manager for the 8 clients says he wants the 64-bits version just because it's...64-bits. No other reason.
I've read that the 64-bit version can not handle Java, Media Players like VLC and mayby some other plugins. Is that still so?
What is the main reason TODAY for using 64-bit Firefox Browser instead of 32-bit, except for the use of 4 GB+ RAM?

When I go to update Firefox through the settings > general > firefox updates > check for updates, I am getting the error in the title. I can manually download the app installer and update to the most current version which is what I did for version 125.0.1, yesterday.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox, installing the beta branch, refreshing firefox, running in troubleshooting mode, completely deleting all user firefox files, and I still get the error. No DNS resolver issues to the update server. No firewall issues. No network blocking (tested with other devices).
This issue started after March update to 124.0.1 and continues to current stable release 125.0.1.
This issue also seems to extend to checking for extension updates.
Below are browser logs for when i try to check for update or update extensions.
