I uninstalled Chrome recently and noticed that in Thunderbird, when I want to look at the mail account server settings, it displays :

I only have Firefox.  I had rebooted after removing Chrome.
How can I fix this?

Is there a set of instructions I can use to help me sort out login and settings problems. A wizard would be ideal but I am not starting from scratch, I just want to fix up errors I may have caused by changing settings on my accounts in order to overcome problems which have occurred recently. My original emails were with TPG who got taken over by the Message company. I had an idea that oauth2 was possibly involved in the problem, so I havechanged settings and now don't know how to fix it. hi, every few days we keep getting all of our emails come through witha picture on them , no writing or sender info this has been happening for months also no' from or to or subjest ' shown when the email is open -

there seems to be some kind of spam/virus that has ifiltrated all of our website incoming emails.....

please help with identifying and resolving the problem as we can't read customer emails or print orders!

we use several emails which come through on to the same inbox ,these are -

pretty sure the problem is affecting 2 emails

if reading these same emails on imap shown on windows mail we do not have a problem at all but we much prefer using thunderbird!!!!

Thunderbird shows me a Google login box for an account (@sidly.org) that I don't have in Thunderbird. I had one, used it, but removed all its details from the incoming and outgoing mail server settings. Nowhere in Thunderbird is there any more information about this account (@sidly.org) and the window still appears. Uninstalling and reinstalling has not helped. I would be grateful if you could point out where I can EFFECTIVELY remove this account information and why it still appears.

I have read almost all the responses related to my issue. I have tried every suggested solution...nothing works. I even deleted the app then reinstalled...still no resolution any help resolving would be much appreciated. The curse of the behemoth yet again? I refer to the ‘new’ imposition imposed by Microsoft with their ‘new’ authorisation and authentification nonsense when attempting to log in to account/s via Thunderbird. Why this is necessary when it is possible to log in via the usual manner direct is any body’s guess. My personal opinion is that it is a sordid and underhannd way of forcing us to subscribe to Outlook 365? Cynical me? For numerous reasons I need and use 6 e-mail accounts, sadly all Microsoft (outlook.com, hotmail.com. .co.uk and last but not least live.com). No need to explain why the excellent Thunderbird is used and has been for nigh on 15 years+. Over the past couple of months I have tried every conceivable configuration supplied by the support team and other poor users in the same position as me. None have solved my problem. I surely cannot be alone? I do not object to change if it is of benefit but this is madness. For the time being Thunderbird is redundant and the daily grind of signing in individually via Microsoft faces me everyday. Both time consuming and arguably pointless. If someone has a definitive solution please let me know. There must be one?

I have been using Tbird for years and have never seen this issue. I have a client that when she sends an email, usually with PDF attachments, the email goes to the recipient but what gets placed in her sent folder is the header followed with random characters.

For example, this is what showed up in the sent email folder from a email sent with PDF attachment. This does not happen all the time but certainly happens enough for concern.

Something happened to my Mozilla Thunderbird account. Suddenly, when I open Thunderbird to check or send emails, all that opens is my list of sent messages. I no longer have my start page which allows me to compose and send and see new messages. I've been trying to get some help for the last three days or so as I'm 75 years old and feel crippled without my email account. I've been using Thunderbird for years and am used to its format and appearance, usability etc. and would just like to get it back to where it was.

Of course, I would like to be able to retain my older sent and received messages and my list of contacts and email addresses etc. I'm assuming that all of my information still exists in my Mozilla Thunderbird account somewhere and am wondering if it can all be restored on my computer. I need assistance in making that happen. I was not raised on computers and can easily get lost in all of the jargon, codes, etc. and my ISP can't help me with much of it other than to refer me to the Mozilla Thunderbird providers.

If nothing else, can I, should I, just download Mozilla Thunderbird again and start anew? I would really rather know that it can all be restored from somewhere if I can find the right link or person to help me and to not keep me bouncing around between robots and automated responses. I've attached a photo of what opens when I try to go into my email. My contacts (correspondents) and their email addys have been blocked out but I've tried to show all of the icons that are available to me, none of which seems to provide a solution to my problem.

I find that I AM able to receive my email on my ISP's email program but it is a very basic program which is not at all familiar to me. I also have two other email accounts on gmail that seem to be working fine but they are not accounts that were set up for day to day messaging. One of those accounts is associated with my wildlife photography website.

When I try to open some old messages in my inbox, they no longer open correctly, but appear as computer code connected with emails from other messages. The same messages open correctly in my phone and in my backup Gmail inbox so are not lost, but I am concerned that my laptop may be infected, though a Norton 360 scan shows no issues. Can anyone explain what is going on and whether I should be worried?

On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Thunderbird was auto-updated on my computer. Shortly after that, I tried to start the tax preparation program I use for preparing tax returns for my clients. I am a CPA and tax preparer. The tax prep program is called "ATX" and is a product sold by Wolters-Klewer (aka CCH), and is unrelated to Thunderbird. I can no longer access my ATX tax prep program.

When I try, I get this message: "The program has encountered an unexpected error and needs to close." I have tried multiple times, and get the same error message every time. I also get that message when I try to start ATX for previous tax years. I am sure it is the Thunderbird update that is causing this, as I have made no other changes to my computer, programs, hardware, or anything else. The ATX program worked just fine up until yesterday.

I badly need that ATX program. Please help ASAP. If someone wants to call me, my number is (775) 747-4666.

Finally, the error message I get when I try to start the ATX program has a link that says "Show details." When I click that, I get a long list of gobbledegook, but one line may be relevant here. It says: "Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it "

I have over fifty tax return to prepare before the extended deadline of October 15th, so I desperately need to be able to open my tax prep program. I am almost certain the Thunderbird update caused this, so please help fix this right away. Thank you.

I have been reminded by Microsoft that Thunderbird will be unable to access my Outlook account after Sept 16th. I have followed the instructions on the MS help site to re-configure Thunderbird, but when I try to change the Authentication on the outgoing server settings OAuth2 does not appear as an option. I've been using Thunderbird with no issues for years and I'd hate to lose it... Thanks Nigel

Until today, I was able to easily go to a name in the contacts sidebar by just typing the first letter of the name on my keyboard (not in the search contacts box). I am no longer able to do this. For example, if I was trying to find an email beginning with "br" -- I could type that and it would take me to the next entry in the contacts sidebar that began with "br" It kept me from having to scroll through the list all the way to the names beginning with "br" How do I get it to do this again?
