My hard drive is going to have to be replaced, how do I move everything to a new hard drive. I pay my bills from folders I have added in 'Tbird so it is imperative that I move it all intact AND that I have access to all of it after I do manage to relocate it to a fresh hard drive. After an automatic update of my windows 11, the thunderbird has real perfomance problems! the program open very slow, it freeces permanently, that the program is not usable anymore. I have deleted Thunderbird and reinstalled but it still has the bad performance. Thunderbird on my Laptop with windows10 performance without a problem, is fast and does what it was designed for! What can I do??????????????

Hi there, Just installed Thunderbird email. Hi, I did something stupid. I accidentally deleted an entire year's worth of emails. I was in the process of archiving them, and mistakenly thought that the originals had been left in the inbox. I thought I needed to re-archive them, so I deleted the copies from the archive folder, and then - this is the stupid part - emptied the trash in the archive folder. When I went back to the inbox to re-archive the emails, I realized they were no longer there. I have not compacted the folder. Is there any way to recover the deleted emails?

Many months ago I reported this error/bug but it remains unresolved, even though it was supposedly progressed to Mozilla.

I have a desktop PC & a laptop. The problem only occurs on the laptop. I am running T/bird on ESR channel on both machines.

On the laptop, even though the settings are not to update automatically it does, reverting to the release channel. This displays the following bug!

Instead of a "Junk" and a "Spam" fold I get 2 "Spam" folders, but a closer look shows the paths as being correct, what you would expect. The folder will not rename.

Reinstalling the ESR version restores the correct folder names - UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE PROGRAM AUTO-UPDATES when it shouldn't!

When my message filter uses the "Reply with Template" action, the reply e-mail is always PGP encrypted, even when I do not have any public key for the recipient e-mail address. As a result, the reply e-mail is always corrupted.

I am using Thunderbird 140.7.1esr on Windows 10.

I have attached a screenshot of what the reply e-mail always looks like.

In the Template that I am using, the "encrypt" button is not selected, and in the OpenPGP menu of the Template, the "Encrypt" menu item does not have a checkmark next to it.

Does anyone know how I can get Thunderbird to send reply e-mails without using encryption?

I am getting started with TB and Exchange with the OWL plugin (https://services.addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/owl-for-exchange/versions/). None of my filters seem be working. From what I determined from ChatGPT, certain body-oriented filters aren't supported. However, I'm just trying to do a simple filter on a sender (see attached image), which as I understand it *should* work.

Can someone confirm that filters like this either work or *don't* work for you? The OWL docs are very light on this: https://support.beonex.com/help/en-us/4-features/23-unsupported-feature

I am so annoyed, MS clearly sabotage this to push people back to their horrific software! I am so against that idea I lost an entire full work day today trying to do something SO simple, to install Thunderbird (for a friend) and connect it to MS365 email address.

It's IMAP, it should have taken SECONDS! It did create it, pulled in tons of email, but refuses to SEND any! I tried every single suggestion I could find online, going back years. NOTHING works! All i get every time whne sending email is : "Login to server smtp.office365.com failed. "

Does anyone have a magic cure, 6 solid hours of this and I still refuse to give up hopes of making Thunderbird the active mail client! Thanks

v147.0.1 (64bit) = latest I create a template. Template used by "send a new e-mail from template" works fine and send with text and pictures. All Good.

I use a Filter that sends an auto-reply from a Template. Sent message have wrong coding (Poland chars are replace to some strange characters) and no picture in it, at bottom of e-mail are some codes.

I am using T-bird on a Mac. I set up for a gmail account. I can send emails but do not receive replies, etc. I noticed there is no mail inbox for the account. Settings appear correct. Any thoughts? Thank you.

I want to change the folder to which I currently send my spam filters on my Mac. I understand how I can edit them individually and handle new filters, however I have several hundred accumulated filters created over the years and doing so individually will be very time consuming. Is there a method I can use to change all existing spam filter's destination folder in a single step. I know a bit about using Config Editor, Chrome css, probably just enough to get my self in trouble. I see several spam filter files within the Thunderbird folder, but not sure if they are germane.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When there is an update available for Thunderbird, I no longer get the prompt window automatically opening to tell me.

I have my Settings, General, Updates set to Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them. (see attached screenshot)

This worked in the past but after an update (can't remember which one), this stopped working.

I have my Update Settings set in Firefox to the exact same and it always automatically opens a prompt window when there is an update due, as does all my other software, so is there something set differently in my Firefox settings compared to my Thunderbird settings?

Is there something in the Firefox about:config settings that is possibly switched on but it is not switched on in Thunderbird about:config settings that is preventing Thunderbird automatically opening an update window?

Is there something different in the registry entries or values in a file?

I know that I can manually select Help, About Thunderbird and the prompt window will show any updates available but we don't always remember to check and that's why the automatic prompt works so well!

I am running Thunderbird Version 147.0.1 (64-bit) currently on the release update channel.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have been dealing with this issue for the last several thunderbird versions. I am currently running 115.18.0

Everytime I try to configure an existing gmail account for thunderbird via File -> New -> Existing email account

I specify my Name and gmail email address, then password for the gmail account.

The google authentication pop up launches " Mozilla Thunderbird wants to access you Gmail" and I click "Allow"

As soon as I click "Allow" I am asked to download a file.

Google gemini says this file is a sign that Oauth is not being accepted by thunderbird.

What I have tried. I verified Thunderbird is set to accept cookies I have verified there are no previously stored gmail passwords (as this has never worked) I have changed my default browser from Firefox to Brave and verified the same behavior

please help, Thunderbird has never been able to connect to gmail when running on this Ubtuntu install.
