Firefuxxed was refusing to open new tabs so I shut it down and restarted it (always fixes it) and all my pinned and open tabs were gone with no way to recover them, it took me half an hour to manually restore the pinned ones one by one but not all of them as I cannot remember all of them let alone all the open tabs I had (hours of research gone down the toilet).

There should be a way to backup and restore pinned and open tabs so this doesn't happen, the history option does nothing.

OS: Linux Mint 22 fresh install from a week ago Previous version of Firefuxxed updated after this shamossel.

As practically every other Firefox user, my bookmarks evolved into a lengthy file system that uses folders to segregate categories of bookmarks.

That is, it used to have this feature.

After the last update all or most of the bookmarks (I can't tell by scrolling down the long list) are devoid of their organizing folders. This puts a great deal of information beyond easy reach. In Mozilla Help topics one is advised to click on the library icon in the toolbar ... only there is no such icon on my copy of Developer's Edition.

Can someone suggest a method or methods to recover the folders?

Some passwords have been lost as well.

The method of putting an older jsonlz4 and naming it sessionstore. It's not working. I've also tried session history scrounger and it's just saying "session history file contents couldn't be read". Any ideas, I've lost a LOT of tabs to it forgetting the previous session.

I've tried all files from the session backup folder including the update backups and I used shadowexplorer to get my session files from the 18th.

Acer Aspire 5 laptop. Windows 10. Auto turned off because I unplugged it to move places and it has a dodgy connection so if the screen physically moves a bit (like closing and opening movement) it just auto turns off - the screen accidentally moved a bit! I restarted it but only used it to connect to the scanner and save the scanned doc in Documents - I didn't use the internet so didn't realise the tabs didn't re-open as normal. Next day, I realised the many tabs and a few windows weren't opening in Mozilla Firefox. They were also off in Chrome but I could recover those - and it was just one window and a handful of tabs. I did a restore last session, which was dated as a couple of days previously, but the Firefox windows and tabs were still not there when I restarted. I certainly wasn't asked nor were there any warnings re saving tabs etc Firefox has just done an update (auto). I've looked around but see no solution. I don't have my laptop synced to any other device. I thought I had a back up / remember things for in case of crashes but it seems not. What do I do to recover all the tabs and windows? Thank you.

I've just booted my machine and opened Firefox, only to be presented with a completely fresh install.

All my settings, bookmarks and history gone. It was fine yesterday when I closed it and powered down.

I'm running Kubuntu, I've checked the .mozilla folder and nothing...it's like my profile has just been overwritten.

Not happy at all, I'm starting to dislike Firefox.

Can anyone offer any help or advice please?

I have recently purchased a new Windows 11 computer, and want to install Firefox there and transfer all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. There are obviously quite a few Support articles on this topic, and seemingly quite a few methods to use: copy and paste profile folder, sync, the backup/restore function within Settings, etc. I'm a bit reluctant to use sync, as some users report it can be an incomplete transfer. My current profile also may contain some "corruption", so I'm reluctant to copy the entire profile folder to the new computer.

My questions are: 1. Why is it "best is to avoid restoring a full profile folder"? 2. Is this the complete list of "important files that are safe to restore/transfer"? 2. In my profile folder, there are several files that start with the same file name, but then have different file extensions. For example: cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite.bak, cookies.sqlite-shm, cookies.sqlite-wal. Should I restore ALL these files, or just "cookies.sqlite"? 3. Is the correct procedure to copy the selected files from the "old" profile, and then paste them to the "new" profile, which presumably would overwrite files of the same name in the "new" profile? Just updated to FF 141.0.3. The browser had advised me to restart to finish the update. So I did. But in doing so, not all my tabs were recovered.

Most were, but like 3 were not.

I use Firefox under Fedora (I'm two OS versions behind, must upgrade soon). I open very many tabs each day then work through them, theoretically every day, in practice they accumulate and I deal with them when I can. I rely on the tabs loading correctly on restart, but today they didn't, instead the set of tabs that were opened a few days ago loaded, and I lost everything I had done since then. Is there a way to retrieve the tabs that were opened just before this happened, ie around 15-20 hours ago? Ideally, again, I would merge them with the current ones, but reopening the old ones would take much much longer than reopening the new ones. Thank you for any advice.

My computer shut down. I turned it back on, and the browser was completely updated. Nothing! I'm panicking. There's not a single backup anywhere. there is no folder on the desktop «Old Firefox Data» I don't know what to do I tried to restore bookmarks, but the list only showed other browsers.

My android tablet was running our of space so I transfered FF using x explorer to a sd card without first backing up bookmarks. Bad idea. X explorer created a zip file which I could install back to my tablet. I redownloaded ff. I desire to import or transfer my bookmarks but can not find them. My zip files are: base.apk; split_config.arm64_v8a.apk; split_config.hdpi.apk; Any suggestions?

EVERY TIME I CLOSE FF WHEN I REPOPEN IT, I END UP BACK AS IF I JUST INSTALLED IT. ALL MY BOOKMARKS ARE GONE, ALL MY EXTENSIONS ARE GONE, LIKE I JUST INSTALLED IT.

I'VE TRIED UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING AND IT STILL DOES IT.

Firefox updated on my macbook pro running Sequoia 15.5 but failed to restore my previously open windows. The option to restore previous session was missing. How can I get my previously open windows back, bearing in mind I'm not not a computer nerd? Thank you, Edouard.

This has happened several times in the last 4 months or so, it had never happened prior to that and I've used Firefox for years. It now occurs when I open Firefox after my computer has either been shutdown, or the computer does a restart. I am signed in to my Mozilla account.

ello. My favorites have disappeared from my Windows 11 PC. It has happened once before and then I was able to get them back by deleting the sqlite file, now it doesn't work and I need your help with ending firefox processes etc.

I just read what I think addresses my problem but I'm too thick to Understand it all. My goal is to make my android browsing as private as possible without messing anything else up. Obviously I failed. In trying to do that I made it I made my bookmarks unreachable. What can I do to start over? Gary

Hi, I recently purchased a new laptop and want to bring over the bookmarks I had from my old laptop. I had copied what I thought was the profile from the old one and copied it into the new laptop - but I'm not sure of the next steps :(.

Out of a sudden all of my bookmarks were lost. I tried importing bookmarks i had previously saved in an HTML. Did NOT work. I tried "revert to older date bookmarks." Did NOT work. I tried "import from another browser."Did NOT work. Funny thing is that with the same HTML file i extracted from mozilla when i made a copy a couple of weeks before, i was able to upload all bookmarks to Opera but not to Mozilla!!!!
