How do I transfer my email contact list to another person. I knew how with the old Thunderbird, but it doesn't work with the new version.

Since I downloaded your program, I no longer have Personal Addresses. Where did they go? I didn't copy any of my addresses to another program, so I can't send any messages to anybody

Some of my contacts have passed on. Others are dysfunctional. Whenever I delete the address in the address book, the question comes up: do you want to delete? If I click 'yes', nothing happens. even if I delete the email via editing the contact, the email is restored again. I use Linux Mint 22.

Trying to backup thunderbird address books. Online help says to select the address book, go to tools, then export and select file type. Instructions say should see file format options like csv but the only option showing on mine is zip with no other options. I can backup the entire profile, and have done so, but how bo I backup the address book?

I have an entry in my address book which I want to update. I right click on the listing and a popup menu appears which includes "Edit". I select that, make changes, but I find no way to SAVE the changes I entered. How do I save the changes?

My contacts are a hot mess. For fear of destruction, I have not done any housekeeping. I feel like in past, my elementary trial and error tests have yielded inconsistent results. (It could be my brain that yields inconsistent results.) e.g. Add or delete a test contact on either side, seems to end up confusing me more! I'd love to read about sync priorities or settings yet seems like all I can find is Q&A forums or a download for a printable PDF that is reputedly maybe out of date...

☺Is there a basic, extended primer on how address books and syncing work with TB?

My: "Personal Address Book" has 9K+ entries, yet the google contacts that seems to reside in "Address Book" has only 4K+, which matches my contacts on google site.

I want to begin the arduous process of deleting "duplicates", many of which seem to be not really identical, and I need to ascertain what is current...

But where to start? My fear is if I go to contacts.google.com and do a ton of culling, that at the next sync everything that I deleted will be restored by TB.

Another concern is android syncing to google but I suppose that's another forum. I use Bluemail currently...I just got used to it. I think I finally got past the issues with "phone storage" vs "Google storage" and then I finally realized that linking my phone to 2 separate google accounts wasn't helping.☺

Should I switch to Thunderbird Mobile? Does it sync nicely with android/google? Is every different phone going to behave differently?

I've installed Thunderbird on new computer, and moved over from the old computer emails and Address Books (including customized ones). But when I start a new message, I can't get any e-addresses to appear in the To box.

What do I need to do to access Addresses?

I have added a contact on my Iphone. How long will it take to propagate to Thunderbird email on my windows laptop? Is there a way to force the check of updated/added contacts/email addresses?

Thunderbird inbox shows wrong sender name for message, overriding what the person actually sent with something from its data base. Attached screen shots illustrate:

-- Message is sent from [email]@earthlink.net. This was a joint account for a married couple. When they sent messages, each would have their Email client show the name of the sender. The husband died several years ago, and now the wife is the only one using the account.

-- Screen Shot #1: When I access the message via Thunderbird, for some reason it overrides the name provided by the sender with something from its data base (in this case, the name of the dead husband).

-- Screen Shot #2: When I access the message directly from Gmail, it shows the correct sender name.

This seems to me to be a bug. But if it's not, is there some parameter I can set so that Thunderbird doesn't "help" me with overrides like this?

Have just joined the Thunderbirds, after two disasterous crashes of eM Client, when I lost 10 years of my emails etc.

My PC's run Win 7 (yes I know everyone says I should upgrade(?) to a later version of Windows, but I'm very happy with 7 and Thunderbird works brilliantly on it) and I'm just getting used to Thunderbird.

However, maybe it's my age or lack of observation, but I canot find a way to import my contacts, which are in a folder on my C: drive. (A later and larger database in eM Client is isolated on a pen drive with the rest of eM Client's .dat files, which neither eM Client or ChatGPT can help me restore.) Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Could you elaborate how I can delete mass email contact that I NEVER want to save, but you save them.

I have 4000 email saved? WHAT???????

I need to mass delete them, it makes me really hard to organize my work.

I want to do this years ago and unable to find an effective way to do, it keeps building up!!!

I can't find in mobile Thunderbird address book. It is not convenient to fill manually Adresse of Adressat to write email. There's no way to keep email address of people in email in non existent address book. Can you help?

I have downloaded Thunderbird Android and want to write an email but my address book doesn't seem to work when I start writing into the address ("to") field. How do I connect my address book to Thunderbird?
