I installed Thunderbird and typed in my Office 365 email information to connect my account. Thunderbird found the correct IMAP settings, which I verified on Microsoft's website. It proceeds to open a browser so I can authenticate my account. After that succeeds it starts downloading all of my messages & folders. I thought everything went fine until I attempted to send a message. I get the following error:

Login to server smtp.office365.com with username me@mydomain.com has failed.

It gives me the option to enter a new password, which doesn't make sense since it's oAuth2 but I created an app password to see if that would work, and it didn't. The only other options are cancel & retry which don't help either.

I thought maybe something went wrong with the authentication process so I uninstalled thunderbird and started again with the same results. I've tried many other server settings, but nothing works, so I'm here.

Current Settings:

Server Name: smtp.office365.com User Name: me@mydomain.com Authentication Method: oAuth2 Security: STARTTLS Port: 587

I've tried: Using Port 465 / SSL/TLS Using Port 465 / STARTLS Using Port 587 / SSL/TLS Changing Auth method to Normal Password and then using app-specific password. Uninstall / Resintsall

One final thing to note: I followed the same process with my fastmail.com account, which worked flawlessly. I can send & receive fine.

MY FF recently updated to version 1380.1 (64bits) and my Sidebar Bookmarks are gone. That is I have to manually put them back every time I now start FF. I want them to always show when I start FF. When I need extra screen space, I would click the X and they'd disappear for that session. And when I was done, I'd click on View - Bookmarks they'd be reinstalled. And when I shut FF down and returned later, they'd be right there where I need them.

My question is, how do I get back to that setup?

I am now getting a spinning wheel with annoying frequency while using/trying to use Thunderbird on my MacBook Air 2017 running Monterey. Everything was fine for the first 6-9 months, but over recent months the spinning wheel has appeared more and more frequently while I'm trying to read mail, answer mail, scroll through messages, etc., etc. Now it comes up every few minutes and delays me doing anything for about 15-30 seconds at a time. It's really frustrating. I recently ran Onyx, which was designed to clear cache, etc and make everything run smoothly. But the only program it required me to quit before it started was Thunderbird. Is there some cache or something I need to clear on a (semi-) regular basis to keep it working at a reasonable speed without this godforsaken spinning wheel interrupting everything? This is second request (can't find the first). I need to import multiple (bookoo) .EML files into TB 115.10 to later move into "folders". Several weeks ago I somehow found someway to import a single .EML file (downloaded from an old ISP) into TB -- and then got busy with other projects -- and now cannot figure how I did it. I did not use an extension (ImportExportTools NG) -- just the native tools in TB 115.10. If anyone is familiar with importing EML files -- sure would appreciate suggestions. Thanks.

when i try to reinstall using an older version I am currently. using 68.12.1 and itried reinstalling because windows said there is no app associated with this. i tried reinstalling 68.12.1 and i got the following message and lost my addresses and contacts. i also get this message see attachment. i do not want the newer version. how do i reinstall this version and not have to start from scratch

Bonjour, J'ai effacé par erreur un dossier et ses sous-dossiers directement dans ma messagerie Orange. J'ai ensuite installé Thunderbird qui voit ces dossiers dans la poubelle mais ils restent désespérément vides des mails qu'ils contenaient. Est-il possible de les récupérer malgré tout svp ?

To my new computer Thunderbird has just fetched the INBOX-mails from the IMAP-server, not my many subfolders, not the SENT-folder, not the SPAM-folder. This has previously worked when I changed to a new computer. How do I get Thunderbird to transfer these mails.

Dear Team After Updating from 102.15.1 (32Bit) to 115.28.0 (32Bit) I can not connect to the provider "pop.hispeed.ch" anymore. Ping pop.hispeed.ch (on CMD) shows normal raction of beeing reachable with a "reply from xxxx.". I am on Windows 7 SP1. I have checked several times all setting POP and SMTP, switched off Firewall, uninstalled virus scanner, and and and many more (all knowledge found on internet..). Pressing the "Get Message" button in the upper menue bar shows no raction when pressed. The icon "Get Message" on the left side of the button "+ New Message" results in a none moving blue status bar at the right bottom of the window. After a while with the message "timed out.. ".In the settings "Config Editor.." the values of "mailnews.tcptimeout" are set to "300", and "true". I am using TB since donkey years with many many eMails. Are the lost? I'm working in Windows 11 on my PC and can't find the menu tab to change layout of my email. The only instructions I see were posted ibn 2017. Why is this so difficult?

Windows 10 (64 bit) Thunderbird 60.0b7 (64 bit) Just had an automatic Thunderbird email update. There was an "Option" to insure that my sent email was received at the required location. You would send a "ping" informing you, - Email received - Email "not" received When it comes to very important email's, this tool was a great asset. Why was this very important (secure) "Option" removed? Thanks

Hello. I am trying to add a new provider, which means adding a new account. When I click "Add new account" it takes me to a page that asks me to enter my existing account. Does this mean the currently running account or the new account?

There used to be a menu in the message header (lower right of screen) that included viewing the message source. I accidentally deleted it and cannot find how to restore it. I have looked through the Config editor and main menus and cannot find an option.

 I am using version 115.14.0 (64-bit) and I am using Fedora 39, up to date OS.  I have been using ThunderBird for a very long time.  I have been experiencing an issue which, unfortunately, seems to come and go.  I am experiencing this issue on 2 separate physical computers.  How can I restore the list of emails under any account when they are not visible?
 This is very troubling ...

This started a week or two ago intermittantly on some websites. Today I cannot see any images of amazon items in the shopping cart. I can see the thumbnails in the right side bar, and if I click on an item, the image appears on its for sale page. Ebay usually shows the first image, but the rest won't load, unless I click on "unable to load images" and then they might. Or if I use the icon to put the images in their own box, I can < and > to navigate them

Turned the new "secure DNS" feature off & on, no difference. Turned off NoScript, no difference.

hi all today thunderbird stopped downloading messages from the mail server

a manual d/load doesn`t do anything

the mail is backed up on the server & i can`t get a d/load to happen ( manual or auto)

how to auto- clear the server so i don`t keep getting maibox full messages or is this the inbox on my computer that the message refers to

i keep deleting the junk files
