Cordiali saluti.

Dear Mozilla Team, I am writing to propose an important feature that would greatly improve accessibility and digital inclusion in Firefox: the implementation of real-time captions directly in the browser. This feature, already available in Google Chrome, automatically generates subtitles for any audio or video content played within the browser, regardless of the platform or service. It would therefore be extremely valuable not only for deaf or hard-of-hearing users, but also for anyone in situations where audio cannot be played or easily understood. Introducing real-time captions in Firefox would represent a major step toward universal accessibility, ensuring that millions of users can enjoy online content without barriers. Such a feature would not only strengthen Mozilla’s mission for an open and inclusive web, but also demonstrate a tangible commitment to meeting real user needs. Thank you for your attention, and I hope this proposal can be considered for future versions of Firefox. Sincerely.

When composing a new message in Thunderbird, I must either type the full recipient address or manually select a contact; unlike other email clients, it does not suggest addresses from previous correspondence. This omission is both time-consuming and frustrating. Any ideas how to fix it?

Hi,

It seems that the last upgrade has broken something with sending emails. With my desktop version, I have no trouble sending and receiving emails. I am using version 142.0 (64-bit) of Thunderbird, and the desktop computer is Windows 10.

I have 2 issues sending emails.

First issue, my Pixel 9 Pro XL does not send emails anymore. It was working fine until recently. The email is stalled in the outbox. I tried reloading the outgoing server settings, I get an error message; see attached error message. My Android receives emails fine, but will not send them. My phone syncs well with my desktop. However, the outbox doesn't sync, so I can't send the stalled emails from the desktop when I'm back in my office.

Second issue is my POS program (Windward Software System 5) stopped sending out emails as well. I worked with the tech department at the software company, and they said it isn't an issue with them, nothing has changed with them, no upgrades or changes on their end. Some of our older machines here, that haven't received the recent upgrade with Thunderbird, are still sending emails fine. Just a couple of computers are having this trouble of not sending emails from out POS software, it's the ones that have received the Thunderbird upgrade. For the outgoing settings, we are using the default port 465, and the connection security is SSL/TLS. Authentication method: is a normal password. I am hoping you have an answer for me. Please don't share the attachment with the community forums. Everything else will be fine.

Thank you,

Kathi McNally

when I play a video in Firefox, it doesn't keep the screen on.

I need this accessibility feature.

This happens, at least, with Debian 12's Firefox (uptodate), like over 1 year now.

Please help with that too.

Thanks in advance!

Good day, I'm trying to use my TAB key on my keyboard to move to the next input but instead it only functions as an Enter key now. Which means I physically need to use my mouse to click on the next input field in order to move to the next section. Such a small and basic function that is now gone- and unfortunately a deal breaker for me using Firefox. I need to work fast, working through thousands of lines of data, I cannot sit and click on every field. None of the fixes I've found works.

Doing a "find" ends up showing a greenish (so I'm told) background with white text. Want to guess which "find" in the attached image is difficult for me to find?

What I would like: Find (focus): yellow text on black background Find All: white text on black background

Yes, of course it would be nice if that would auto switch to black on yellow if the website default is black background.

I can hack userContent.css and get the selection function to work:

/* General highlight (for text selection, etc.) */

selection {
   background: #FFFF00 !important;  /* Yellow background */
   color: #000000 !important;       /* Black text */

}

I can hack userContent.css and get the Find All (sans the focus) to work.

But firefox always provides the focus with white on green. Even if I do something like this:

/* Customize the color of highlighted search text */ input[type="search"]:focus::selection {

   background: #FFFF00 !important;  /* Yellow background */
   color: #000000 !important;       /* Black text */

}

I tried several themes. No change. I tried changing Windows Preferences. No change.

There must be a way to make this "find" feature useful for me.

After a couple of years just receiving emails on my phone, I decided to sort out how to send them. I see that the Thunderbird App can be installed simply by pointing phone at desk top screen QR code. I clicked onto Thunderbird Settings/Export for Mobile then clicked 'export' and got request for Username and Password, but have not got these to hand and don't know where to find them. Tried various answers on Google to no avail. Photo of 'Windows Security, Mozilla Thunderbird' request box appears below (hopefully) Thank you

I do not know why but since yesterday I don't have the Orange Box in my Thunderbird home page to create a new message. I have to go into account and click on new message ( with a pen icon ). How do I get the orange box back. I have the orange area in the other pages like addresses, calendar, and the like, but not for new messages. How could I get it back because I installed a new copy of Thunderbird but it did not work. Thank you.

I have created a series of named folders on my thunderbird home screen and I move incoming messages into each folder according to subject matter. I set up a folder named it BUPA some months ago and moved all incoming emails relevant into this folder. Now I have discovered that this folder does not appear under my list of folders on my home page and it has dissappeared. I do not know how this took place but I assume that this collection must still be on yourserver and if so can be restored to me. I would be most grateful if you could assist me with this problem.

My Samsung tablet has a "ghost touch" issue - as a solution, I activated a "long press" setting (0.2 seconds). Unfortunately, this clashes with Firefox settings: When I open a link or a page on Firefox, the browser registers only a small scrolling action and then stops registering other actions. I'm down to the point where Firefox is my default browser but I need to find Chrome from the depths of my setup if I need to open something in a pinch - or, in this case, using the syncing function to get the page from the tablet to my smartphone. Is there a way to deactivate custom long press settings on Firefox? Thank you.

When using any dark Firefox theme on ChromeOS, the contextual menu text and background are both dark. This means there is little to no contrast, and so the text is very difficult to read.

Unfortunately, the ChromeOS screenshot tool doesn't work on Linux apps, and so I'm unable to share a screenshot. Tested using several dark themes, including the default -- behaviour was consistent in all.

Firefox installed using the official package through the built-in ChromeOS Linux VM "crostini". Issue has been reported by other users on other platforms in the past, so this seems to be a long-standing bug.
