Since V60 emails have taken longer to download, server timed out etc. After latest update 99% of download requests time out or fail to authenticate. Why?

Running W10 with latest updates and Thunderbird 60.5.0 (32-bit). Since updating to V60 earlier in the month, I started to get time out warnings on my several email addresses (BT & 123-reg). But usually after a couple of attempts, emails would download. With each successive update since, the problem has increase until now, after yesterday's update, almost 100% failure and I'm have to resort to Webmail to see what's there. Occasionally, if I do get a connection, it then says sending of password failed, Authenticion Failure.

When I start typing an email address, I instantly get a drop down list of suggestions with the letters typed in BOLD. This is annoying and makes it hard to read the suggestions. How do I stop this? Is there a department at Mozilla that reviews TBird and FF for accommodations for disabled? FF has ADA violations.

in einem Mail Account in Thunderbird ist der Ordner Papierkorb grau und Kursiv geschrieben und keine Mail kann gelöscht werden. Mehrere Lösungsversuche wie msf-Dateien löschen, Ordner Papierkorb reparieren oder auch löschen und neu erstellen lassen und mehrmalige komplette Neuinstallation bringen keinen Erfolg.

in einem zweiten Mail Account ist ein anderer Ordner grau und Kursiv... auch keine der o.g. Aktionen bringen etwas

Was kann ich noch tun?

When I search, Thunderbird does NOT tell me which folder the email is in.

There is what purports to be an answer to this question, but when I tried to respond to it, it said I need to login and when I tried to login, then it lost that page and i can't find it again.

Anyway, that answer does NOT work. It said to select the email address folder and then any email in that folder. Then run three horiz lines search, check search sub-folders then fill in the search criteria... BUT

a) there's NOT an option to chose ANYWHERE within the email, so you need to individually select subject, body, from AND to. this is the first problem. Then

b) even when I've done this, it only searches within that email address or that folder. Now I have six email addresses and a Local Folders folder with a dozen sub-folders so total of maybe 46 folders! Performing such a search 46 times or even just 7 times is NOT viable.

Putting the search string into the existing search box does list the emails with that text string. Thunderbird urgently needs to be updated to also report THE SUB-FOLDER each email answer is in...

Recently the email composing function has ceased working in Thunderbird (ver 65.0b3 (32-bit)). Other functionality also recently changed ie clicking the get messages button no longer downloads new messages so we now have to select Get all new messages from the drop down arrow attached to that button. We are only able to type in the email body text area when replying to messages but not when we compose a new message from scratch. The compose new message screen allows us to put in send from and send to as well as type a subject line but doesn't allow us to click in the body text area. If I update the subject line and then tab to try and get to cursor to move to the body text area, all that happens is a dotted line border shows around the body text frame box. I have tried safe mode without addins and removed silverlight but nothing has changed. My wife said she accepted some update a few weeks ago but can't remember what it was for. I will attach a screen shot of the compose page to assist in helping resolve this issue. Thanks

Ich habe ein Problem beim versenden von Emails. Ich habe eben versucht eine Email mit 80-Empfängern zu verschicken. Dies ist fehlgeschlagen. Thunderbird zeigte folgende Fehlermeldung.

Seitdem kann ich an keine Emailadresse von diesem Konto mehr Mails versenden. Das Konto ist bei web.de. Die Servereinstellungen habe ich schon überprüft. Siehe unten. Über andere Mailadressen versendet Thunderbird noch Mails. Der Posteingang funktioniert. Über web.de habe ich keine Probleme Emails zu versenden. Ich habe das Konto schon aus thunderbird entfernt und neu wieder hinzugefügt. Das Problem ändert sich nicht Auch Abschalten von Avira nützt nichts. Versuch von über ein anderes Wlan zu senden ist fehlgeschlagen. Das Betriebssystem ist windows 7

Ich bin über jede Hilfe sehr dankbar.

I called att service because magically all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive emails off the server and I couldn't download or upload messages. The guy had me go to account settings/actions/remove account and I lost all my emails and folders. Idiot! I asked the guy if this would delete all my emails and he assured me it wouldn't. But I see that the folder with all the emails is still intact within the profile folder. In the profiles folder the mail folder contains 424MB with 34 files and 4 folders. But I don't know how to re-associate the folder to the email program. Is there a way to do this?

I've got 2 email accounts. I need to move all emails from one account to another. It was always very easy. To do this I have to grab an email or several emails and put it or them into folder on another account. Unfortunatelly from several months it is working only for emails up to 10 MB. Whenever i try to move an mail with attachment bigger than 10 MB nothing is happening. That email stays in previous account. It doesn't work even with copying emails more than 10 MB.

In activity monitor during moving that big file i have got log, which is not changing: "biuro@......com.pl: sending authentication information..."

Can someone help me with that problem?

This error comes immediately when sending the e-mail to Rabobank via Thunderbird. When sending the same mail via Webmail KPN, things are going well. The problem is therefore NOT at Rabobank, but at some institution of my own Thunderbird. Is there perhaps someone who knows something more about this and could help me?

Thunderbird hangs several times per day. It's always when switching from back to the main window from another (e.g. compose) window. It's usually when trying to open another mail message in my inbox, and often right after sending a message. It hangs and mac gives me the spinning wheel of death. I've tried leaving it for several minutes see if it will recover, but it doesn't. In every case, I have to force-quit and restart. I haven't seemed to have lost any data in the process.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

spell checking isnt working when i compose an email, it used to ? i have tried to load a new english dictionary by two methods, in options and right clicking and language add dictionary. i go through the process of selecting and adding dictionary but it is never selectable when i compose a new email. i have tried restarting thunderbird and rebooting my pc. neither help

I noticed that many of my recipients are seeing junk characters in my emails. I have taken a look at the raw bytes and I think I know what is going on.

MIME headers and HTML head elements being sent:

Content-Type: text/html; charset=windows-1252 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> The body is encoded correctly in windows-1252 encoding. Everything looks correct, so what's the problem? Here's my theory: The recipient sees the MIME header. Because it is encoded in windows-1252, it converts the HTML content to UTF-8 but of course the meta tag will still *say* it is windows-1252. Basically, having two headers at different layers specifying window-1252 encoding is causing the recipient to doubly decode the HTML body. I think what we need is some way to make the HTML 7-bit friendly. Convert all non-ASCII characters to numerical entities like  . That way charset conversions can be done at the MIME layer without corrupting the HTML. Is there an option for this in Thunderbird? I poked around in Settings but couldn't find anything.

The scenario:

1. The "new mail" icon appears in my Windows 7 notification area. 2. I go to my Thunderbird window and click on "Get Messages." 3. New messages show as unread, with a green dot. 4. Not wanting to read any of the messages right away, I pick a message and click on the green dot, marking the message as unread.

In previous versions of Thunderbird, the "new mail" icon would disappear. This was a good thing.

In the current version, the "new mail" icon stays up. This is not good.

TB is always asking me which app to use to open .jpg.

Default app set to Irfan View in both W10 and TB.

I doesn't face the same issue with other file extensions like docx, gif or pdf.

When sending large attachments e.g. photo images, the resizing window sometimes extends below the bottom of the screen, so the various option buttons are not visible. There seems to be no way to scroll to make the buttons visible. All I can do is choose OK by hitting Return. I'm using a MacBook Pro running Yosemite, Thunderbird 60.4.0. This didn't happen with the previous version of Thunderbird.

Cut and paste not working--when I paste Thunderbird puts the pasted text in the line BELOW where I've placed the cursor, making editing harder.

With the latest upgrade there is now a problem editing in Write mode. I place the cursor where I want to paste text, but Thunderbird pastes the text in the line BELOW. Not only is the text now in the wrong place, the integrity of the next paragraph is compromised. It takes another cut, paste, and then add space for the paragraph.

Editing used to work perfectly. I hope you will fix this. It is very annoying and time consuming.

Can't remove messages from Outbox folder

I'm using Thunderbird on Mac and Linux (60.2.1) and my issue happens on both of them. I have an IMAP account configured against my outlook.com account. When using Thunderbird, I noticed that a couple messages hadn't been sent recently (because they weren't in the sent folder) and discovered that they were instead sitting in an "Outbox" folder in the folder structure of the IMAP account (not the Outbox folder in Thunderbird's Local Folders) in Thunderbird.

If I try to delete one of the messages in the outbox folder, it reappears in a second. So, I can't delete them. When I open up outlook.com, there is no Outbox folder to be seen. When I connect Outlook 365 on Windows to outlook.com, there is an Outbox folder but it's empty. I've tried removing the Outbox and Outbox.msf files on the file system where my Thunderbird profile is (after Thunderbird is closed, of course) and restarting Thunderbird and the folders just show up again. I've also tried "repairing" the outbox folder in Thunderbird but the messages flicker and are right back again. I've also tried removing the outbox folder in Thunderbird but I get an error message that system folders can't be renamed.

How do I fix this Outbox issue with messages that can't be removed?
