Hello Folks: after having the 'invisible' band across the top of each page, it was advised I reset : was fine saved all bookmarks before hand etc. Now, I am having to log into my usual apps each time: eg. the Library, the duck.ai, the Fitness app etc. Was this a result of the reset: wondering if the duckduckgo Privacy Essentials extension and the FF reset (refresh?) in now in conflict: I am not a greenhorn but definitely not an advanced techy so laylman's terms please THANK you for your help with this.

When I go into my email program it asks for a password over and over again. it doesn't matter what password I put in, nothing works. Thunderbird has tried to send codes, but they don't go through to my email program. I have used my iPad with a different email address to check some things and go to Shaw Webmail to retrieve my emails. I need it to work as I have lots of files on there that I use often with a volunteer organization among others.

When I tried to login I see this information:

An error occurred.

We couldn't log you in. Please try again from a different device.

This is very strange, because I tried it on another PC and this is the same. It looks that yahoo even didn't try to check password, because this is not matter if I wrote correct password or different - I see the same information.

Please help. I have two yahoo mail account and this is the same.

Both accounts works well on another e-mail client and I can access to my account without any problem by browser. This is only thunderbird problem.

Since the up date my yahoo and AOL account want me to enter the password. When i do it is not accepted. It is correct since i tried it on a friends computer. I tried to use forgot password and it says I should enable java script and turn off ad blockers. I cannot do this in Firefox nor do I think it will help.

Hello, For many years I have used Thunderbird, but since update to v148, I have recieved an "Authentication failure while connecting to server imap.aol.com" + "connection to server pop.gmail.com timed out". All the passwords, imap in & out settings are correct, the antivirus/firewall is not blocking. The AOL page pops up for access but does not accept the passwords. I have as of now lost all my emails. I appreciate the security improvements which, sadly, are necessary, but will there be an update to correct this soon.

Login problem after Thunderbird 148.0 (64-bit) (update) as a client for Yahoo accounts - Google accounts continued to work without problems after the update. Yahoo accounts can now only be accessed via the website. A new app password generated in the Yahoo account is not accepted in the Thunderbird browser window, nor is the original password. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I JUST TRIED TO OPEN A DOWNLOADED EMAIL AND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I WAS TOLD TO ENTER THE PASSWORD TO OPEN THE PDF FILE I TRIED ADOBE ACROBAT AND THEN TRIED MOZILLA WHAT PASSWORD ARE THEY ASKING FOR, WHERE CAN I FIND IT THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THE LAST MOZILLA UPDATE

I am trying to set up Thunderbird on a new PC (my old PC died following a power outage). Trying to set up a New Account, I enter the email address I normally use. It asks me for a password. I have tried passwords I have just set up for Mozilla, Thunderbird, Virgin (three of them) and even Google. I am sick of seeing ‘Authentication error’ with not help offered. I never set up a password when I started using Thunderbird many years ago. I keep all my password. There is no option when a password is forgotten or for a new one to be set up. If you can’t or won’t assist, can you recommend a different email app. I have spend so long on this! Cheers, Ken Bailey

Every time I start-up Thunderbird, a series of 2 pop-ups from Yahoo open up: [ Sign in using your Yahoo account ]. I close the pop-up and a 2nd one pops-up. I close it and say 10 or 15 mins they pop back up in the same series. It's very frustrating. I can't tell if it's Yahoo or a scam cookie. I notice the URL at the top of page and it's the same one every time and every day. The same URL shows: "https://login.yahoo.com/?src=thunderbird&client_id=dj0yJmk9NUtCTWFMNVpTaVJmJmQ9WVdrOVJ6UjVTa2xJTXpRbWNHbzlNQS0tJnM9Y29uc3VtZXJzZWNyZXQmeD0yYw--&crumb=uE2cxQuNxpE&login_hint= ..." <... it goes on for a few more lines. It's long. I went to Firefox and cleared all 'cache' and 'cookies' and they still pop-up in Thunderbird. Heck, they just popped up again while writing you! When signing in to Thunderbird to set up emails on new laptop can not get new computer to accept password and there is no where to change it. I have changed iy on the old computer several times does not help

I am setting up Thunderbird on a Win10 machine, and am having a lot of trouble adding accounts that I did not have on the two Win11 machines I have set the same accounts up on.

When adding my 2 GMail accounts, after clicking "Allow" on the OAuth popup the button would go grey the window would stay open and not close, and the account would not be added.

Changing the general.useragent.compatMode.firefox option to TRUE allowed me to progress and finally add those accounts.

I am now having the same trouble with my @hotmail.com account. When I add the account, the dark blue OAuth window pops up, but is completely empty, and there is nothing more I can do.

Things I have tried

• Reverting the above config change
• Checking that cookies and JavaScript are enabled
• Checking there is no saved password
• Used both the Account Hub and the default dialog, with the same effect.

Why does every time TB updates it cause all my Yahoo accounts force me to get new passwords? Is it TB or Yahoo that is creating this problem of me having jump through hoops just to get the accounts working again. BTW the passwords in TB don't work when this happens.

Either this get resolved or I stop updating TB.

Thunderbird updated to 148.0 today and I'm no longer getting mail from my AOL accounts (iMap). I get a screen that appears to be a signin for Oauth2 but when I enter my account info I get an AOL screen that indicates I should login with a browser already used. When I do that I login fine but still can't access the account with Thunderbird.

Login to server mail.btinternet.com with username xxxxxxxxxx@btinternet.com failed.

148.0 was updated today and somewhere the user profiles was changed; all website addresses for pw management were not able to connect. I have two computers on a home network; 1. a Digital Engine Win7 enterprise with Firefox ESR 115.33 operating OK, 2 is a CUBI mini Windows 10 Enterprise Firefox `48.0. I am in process of taking the windows 7 out of service and was doing some cleanup on home network and I noticed had a connection failure on the 2. machine. I looked at the browsers and discovered that the old firefox data is not on desktop as it once was, and I also noticed that the user profile for the about:profile was wrong. I need to restore the CUBI profile. I was moving some things around and lost continuity somewhere. II just remembered....there is a refresh on the control panel for mozilla. looks like this is going to work just fine. The old windows 7 makes a good traveling encyclopedia!

Ok I did a refresh; the machind took over recovered all the data files, repaired and cleared a path for restart of Firefox. and that failed due to a TLS handshake between Mozilla and Google.failed. I have mozilla, firefox, google and chrome accounts. All google accounts are logged out at this time; mozilla is logged in on the Win 7 machine and the failed refreshed machine needs to do the TLS....

Question: should I log in to google account and repeat a refresh? Seems like a dumb question

I answered my own dumb question.....I signed on to google and I guess Mozilla refress allowed the default browser to get the handshake but I noticed the settings were incomplete on my oped Firefox; once I set my tabs and prefs the web addresses were back to norm....I have a working pair of end of life OS PCs which are still going strong thanks to the Mozilla Open House! Ich hatte immer Thunderbird, habe das Programm neu installiert und jetzt muss ich ein Paßwort eingeben. Bisher mußte ich das nie tun. Also habe ich keins das ich eingeben kann. Das ich keins eingeben kann, ist ein Herstellen des E-Programms nicht möglich. Was kann ich tun. Ich benötige das unbedingt wegen der eingehenden Mail. Viele Dank für Ihre Hilfe
