As per old thread at: https://support.mozilla.org/zu/questions/1365405 which has since been archived.

As of version 113, this solution is being suppressed. I occasionally see the x appear briefly on the left when a tab is selected, but then it reverts. So far I have not been able to work out what setting is overriding this function, so I've just rolled back to 112 and used the "--allow-downgrade" flag on the firefox shortcut so I can still load my old profile, but understand this is not a safe option in the long term.

I would like to be able to reset links on a webpage to be as if I have never clicked on them, but I am unable to do so. I have tried:

-Resetting all of the cookies, history, etc for that individual website. -Removing the URLs from the links in question from my browser history. -Downloading this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remove-visited-link/ and using it -Going into settings and changing the visited link color.

Nothing has worked so far. One thing about the website in question is it has its own unique color for visited links---I am wondering if that is causing this? Additionally, this persists whether or not I am signed in to this website.

Thanks.

Hello, I hope someone can help me.

Ever since I updated firefox, my cpu is almost at 100%. With only 2 or 3 tabs open. I updated from version 106.0.2 to 112.0.2. Before this update, I could have several tabs open, up to 10 and the computer would run fine. Now with 3 tabs open, it gets really slow. And I can hear my desktop suffering (the fans go to full speed). When checking the task manager, firefox is taking all the memory and the cpu usage is almost at 100%. I have to keep restarting firefox.

The conditions are the same. The only thing that changes was updating firefox. I already searched for ways to reduce the firefox cpu usage, but nothing changed.

Is there a way to fix this? Or how can I go back to an older version of firefox? Because I'm afraid my computer will die from simply opening 3 tabs.

Thank you in advance.

I very rarely reopen my apps because I also very rarely power off my laptop and use sleep mode instead (usually times between actual shutdowns are around a week). So ubuntu snap likes to update apps regardless of app being closed or not. And once in a while I get my firefox instance closed without me doing it, this would be fine if after reopening it all my tabs were in the same place (or at least I could restore them), but they all gone. I can't restore a session, I only have my history and have to reopen all of them manually.

Please don't tell me to use laptop like a normal person or that I can just listen to ubuntu warnings about updates and close software once in a while. The point is that I don't have this issue with other browsers (also using chrome and brave). If one of this counterparts shuts down unexpectedly it always suggests to restore your session on startup. I know firefox has this feature, but it seems to not work in this exact scenario.

When I go to Google.com, the cursor is in the Firefox browser's address field. And I have to click in the Google search field to start my search - if I remember to do so. Why can't the cursor just be in the Google search field?

I could search in the address field, but I'd have to highlight/delete the address. So it's easier to just click in the Google search field. But I rather just have the cursor be in the search field automatically. Is there a way to get that done? Or is that asking too much?

For the love of God, can someone explain who thought it was a good idea to remove the option to sort bookmarks menus by name? Please do not suggest users to open the All bookmarks and using the View > Sort option because it's not permanent, such useless option only applies temporarily while that window is open.

What version must I downgrade to in order to recover the bookmarks sort by name? Because of course the option won't be recovered. Kindly explain who, and why did you decide it was very useful for the end user to delete this option.

Malwarebytes & Privacy Badger appear not to be working, though shown as 'enabled' in 'Extensions'. No blocked content is indicated. Adverts appear on lse.co.uk which can cause all four CPU's on Intel i5 to hit hi 90%. This problem appears to have started in this release.

Have disabled Privacy Badger and installed Adblocker Ultimate. This seems to have cleared the problem and Malwarebytes Browser Guard is now reporting results. Can't see how to mark problem as fixed??

A further observation which may be related to this problem. Response time seems very sluggish on FF 112.0.1

I have re-enabled both Privacy Badger & MalwareBytes and disabled Adblocker Ultimate. Both appear to be functioning now.

I have noticed that the WebExtensions process can consume as much and sometimes double the CPU & memory resource as that needed for the Firefox process. Is this to be expected? Do I need these extra security features, or are they built-in to the browser anyway?

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 and the current version of firefox is 112.0.1. The problem has occurred on two different machines.

My Friday routine normally involves updating my computers. Normally, I start firefox and get some preliminary work things out of the way before using sudo apt-get update/upgrade (sudo apt update) to update my system.

However, firefox has interjected and updated itself twice in the past month or so. When it says it has done the update and needs to be restarted, I click the button and it restarts. This would not be a problem since it was going to get updated anyway, however, when I go to start sudo apt-get upgrade to update the rest of my system, I get the following error:

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?

This lock traces back to firefox and persists for several hours. The first time I assumed something weird just happened resulting in the lock not being released when firefox restarted after its update. However, since this is the second time that it has happened there is something going on with your updater not releasing properly. Normally, the lock is released immediately after the updating software is finished updating, however, this is not the case with firefox right now.

Please fix this bug.

I have been noticing for quite a while that when I am scrolling down an different websites, suddenly the display is jumping and it skips part of the displayed list. This happens quite consistently.

An example is when scrolling down at:

https://www.travelportland.com/events/search/?type=&start=2023-05-21&end=2024-05-21

I switched to Safari and there is no jumping.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is this a reported bug? Thanks.

I use multiple desktops on Windows 10; usually between two and four at a time. Each of those desktops has multiple Firefox windows open.

Whenever I restart my computer (which is not often but it happens) Firefox restores all the previously opened windows onto a single desktop, leaving me to sort out the mess. Firefox also re-opens windows/tabs recently stashed using the Tab Stash extension.

Is there anything I can do to make sure Firefox remembers which windows belongs on which desktop, and to keep stashed windows closed?
