I'm trying to setup tbsync to use with Google Contacts. I'm running 128.12.0 esr. I've installed tbsync and Google-4-tbsync.

I followed the instructions to create Google credentials, but where do I put them? And the account setup for tbsync asks for a "client secret" - what's that?

I'm using Firefox, updated to version 140.0.4, on my Windows 11 laptop. Since Edge is my primary browser, I normally only use Firefox for two particular websites that don't work well in Edge. Beginning in March 2025, I've had a strange problem with one of those websites. In certain situations, words or phrases pop up in text boxes, meaning that if I want to type something, I first have to delete the word or phrase. Since it's a game website (not a video type game -- actually contract bridge) and the game is somewhat time-sensitive, this is very annoying. The words and phrases are ones that are appropriate to the website (i.e., not random), and seem to be the same in each session. That's why I labeled this as a "clipboard-related" issue.

Clearing the cache seems to help for a short time, but the problem always returns. <Ctrl>-F5 also helps, but seems to work for some text boxes but not others. In fact, <Ctrl>-F5 works for one type of text box, the type that I use most often, for the remainder of that session. But if I use one of the other text boxes, it doesn't help.

If that isn't strange enough, there are two additional oddities: For the other text boxes, the ones that are unaffected by <Ctrl>-F5, if I continue to use them, they eventually stop popping up words and phrases, again just for the remainder of that session.

The other oddity is that I'm using the free version of the LastPass plugin, and every time one of these words or phrases pops up, the LastPass symbol (a red box with three white dots) also appears at the right of the text box. This is completely inappropriate, since these text boxes have nothing to do with logging in or passwords. For this reason, I'm going to try to contact LastPass to ask about the same issue. However, their support isn't very responsive, so I'm hoping that somebody in the Mozilla forum will have a solution.

As I said, the problem only occurs on this one bridge website, and although I've been using Firefox to access it for several years, the issue never occurred before March 2025.

Thunderbird API – How to Access Only Recent IMAP Messages Locally?

Hello,

We’re developing a headless, accessible interface to Thunderbird for blind users, and we’re integrating with the browser.messages.list() and browser.messages.query() APIs to access email content.

We’ve encountered an issue: the Thunderbird web extension API requires messages to be downloaded and stored locally to access their full content via the getFull() endpoint, but there appears to be no way to programmatically trigger a message download from IMAP using a message ID or header.

To minimize disk usage, we only want to store the most recent 30 days of messages locally. However, when we enable “Synchronize the most recent 1 month” in Account Settings → Synchronization & Storage, Thunderbird begins syncing from the oldest messages in the account (starting in 2008), rather than downloading the most recent month (e.g., June 15 – July 15, 2025).

My questions: Is there any way to configure Thunderbird to download and store only the latest (by date) 30 days of IMAP messages?

Alternatively, is there a way to use the WebExtension API to access the full content of recent IMAP messages without syncing the entire history?

I'm currently using Thunderbird 128.11.0esr on Linux (MATE desktop).

Any advice or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

I am a member of Nielsen Computer App. Why did Firefox quit allowing me to use/add this extension?? I guess if this is going to be a problem I will uninstall Firefox AGAIN and go with Chrome. I really like Firefox, but this is so upsetting that I cannot add the Nielsen Extension like before.

Somehow a version, 1.5, got installed and I cannot keep it removed. Whenever I refresh FF, it shows back up. I cannot find any reference to this version on GitHub or on the extensions page. I have uninstalled FF and refreshed it. Nothing works. It keeps coming back. I also looked in the side-install directory, but there were no extensions there. If I remove the extension under the Add-ons Manager, it removes it and I can install it and it installs the correct version and it works until FF restarts and then the 1.5 version shows back up.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to uninstall an extension using a GPO, but it's not working.

I've placed a GPO on the user's OU and configured the ID to be removed in the User-Part of that GPO. I previously retrieved the ID using about:debugging.

But nothing happens; the extension isn't removed. (Logoff/Logon/reboot/gpupdate /force .....)

128.11.0esr (64-Bit)

KeePassXC-Browser Extension

The GPOs for Edge and Chrome have the same function. Enter the ID there, and the extension is reliably removed.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Michael

Every now and then a folder flag will change to the drafts flag/icon, it seems to be a random occurrence which can happen to any sub-folder. Up until the most recent Thunderbird upgrade I had a working extension called FolderFlags which allowed me to go into the Folder properties and change it back but that extension no longer works with the latest version of Thunderbird and there is no alternative extension. How do I change the flag back to it showing as an ordinary sub-folder in my Inbox instead of Drafts? As an interim measure I've created a new sub-folder and copied the emails from the old into the new but that's not ideal at all. I hope somebody will create an updated extension but has anyone any other suggestions please?

How can I open an ad on a one-time basis, as if there were an option when right-clicking?

Sometimes we search for something we want to buy. The ad is near the top of the search results and seems to be worth investigating.

But we can't open the ad. Our wonderful ad blocker is, like our guard dog, too zealous sometimes protecting us.

The answer I'm looking for is NOT to go into Settings, etc. That's swatting a fly with a sledge hammer.
