I was going through my account settings today and noticed that two factor was disabled. I thought this odd as I usually set it up on any account I use, so I of course turned it on and went about linking my authenticator app and generating account recovery codes. Yet in my authenticator app there was already a Mozilla account with my email, but the codes it supplied did not work. I also found old account recovery codes I had written down which did not work either.

What could have happened to cause this? I must have had two factor on sometime in the past and added it to my app and generated recovery codes. How could it have been disabled, the old codes made invalid, and Microsoft authenticator unlinked? Am I looking at an account breach somehow? I have no unusual activity as far as I can tell and no recent data or password breaches. The only thing I can think of was I removed a number of old devices from my account and signed out of them, but I still own the old PC's so no one could be using them.

1: By logging in to my account I am asked to "Enter two-step authentication code"

Upon my knowledge I do not have anything like this. Can I still log in by using my old username and my normal pasword and the be able to sync between my different PCs ?

I;m using Firefox and Mozilla services from beginning, since I was child. I noted what MFA is not working, on my both accounts. it was my early guess also since last year but i fought it was my problem. No after resetting and getting notification what password is not correct makes me guess something is off. i might be wrong but looks like internal problem, maybe a breach what no one knows. what can i say from my side, as an IT company director and IT person. i can exclude all my thoughts about my side, since i changed and reinstalled everything on my devies. got fresh OS and hardened every device. problem still exists. maybe someone could check my accounts and internal settings for firefox security on accounts and MFA. since codes are not valid. had to disable mfa on my both accounts.

FIDO2 Security Key (e.g. Yubikey) Support is entirely broken on Firefox mobile and has been for weeks. Screens that should pop up an interface to use my security key (e.g. after I've typed my password in to Google, in order to do multi factor auth) simply do not show the pop up. This is an absolute P0 issue that makes the browser entirely worthless as a default browser on a device, as many apps want to use Webauthn through the browser to do FIDO MFA. I will be forced to switch to an actual functional browser if this is not fixed soon.

When I'm on a site that I've accessed on my main machine or phone (Apple), but try to use my Apple ID when logging on via the Firefox browser on my Linux machine, I get a popup asking for a fingerprint. None of my devices use a fingerprint. I get it needs confirmation, but very rarely you get the dotty circle to use with your phone camera, but not all the time. How can I make my life easier and get the dotty circle all the time, or force things to go to my phone for confirmation that it's me - face ID or something.

I've looked on my Apple stuff and can't find anything that will help, so I'm reaching out!

I was trying to sign in using the code you sent to my email and once I used the authorized code it was refused. What could be the cause of that. Who could possibly be tampering with my device.

I recently switched over to a physical key for 2FA through Duo for managing several work accounts. When Windows Security pops up for the key authentication, it automatically cancels my Duo login. This doesn't happen if I use Chrome or Edge.

Is there a way to address this via Firefox?

I can't access Duo support easily and have already tried disabling the Windows Security pop-up.

About a month ago, firefox started requesting i use a "USB key" when logging into hotmail or ebay. i do not have a USB key and have not knowingly selected that as an option. how do i turn that off. i can work around it but its becoming more annoying and seems to be spreading to other secure websites.
