I was googling something related to my game and i clicked on a Reddit search result, which i made sure is the official Reddit website not some shady one, then an empty .htm file from moz-safe-about resource got downloaded randomly. I didn't open it, i uploaded it to VirusTotal which came out safe and then i instantly deleted it and ran a virus scan with Windows Security which also came out clean. i tried to recreate this by opening the same website again both on Firefox and other browsers like Zen(Firefox based) and Chrome but nothing happened.
is this a harmless bug or should i worry that it could be a virus that didnt get detected?

Tonight I was roaming around my Firefox settings looking at something else, when I noticed this AI piece pre-checked. Why is FIREFOX, who is supposed to be for privacy and security, authorizing an update that automatically choose AI? Not cool Mozilla. Not Cool. Anyone else have this? and yes, I've already fixed it ;-)
Keep getting multiple "virus found/detected" popups from Firefox. Microsoft full scan and installed McAfee do not indicate any virus.

Hi Mozilla community. I wanted to pose this question based on years of d/l's of a specific community built game Unciv (on github).
The repo and experience are cleanly maintained by competent devs. Releases are provided for several platforms, including as an Android signed apk.
I tend to keep up with the latest release rather than waiting for a new version on Google Play. This implies download of the apk, install. Firefox puts significant scrutiny on this signed apk, downloaded from a generally safe site (github), from a repo with ~10k ⭐'s.
I feel Firefox could be a bit more coherent in its security compulsiveness (which is not unreasonable to have). Of the above, starting with the signed apk, this is a practical opportunity to have a checkbox for an allowance sidestepping excessive scrutiny in future downloads that fulfills the download phenotype. Because change is implicit, a failure on the phenotype check could trigger a notice with check, a shifted allowance in the phenotype identity, versus compounded.
diligence check: I posed the above to gpt 4 & 5.1, answer there is this can't happen without some work (for android), but has merit. Posing q.

I can't tell if I've got a browser hijacker. I'm on an android phone on Firefox and using duckduckgo. I have avast antivirus, but the free version. And in the last 24 hours, sometimes when I type inquiries, usually if its a string of letters and numbers, it will redirect me to a website unrelated to my search. For instance, typing in mig23(looking up fighter jet), it won't do searches and instead will take me to some UK boat website. "OICE", a typo, takes me to a NASA OIIR website. It appears to be close to whatever I typed in, but also doesn't happen every single time. This doesn't happen on my other devices, but it also doesn't happen when I use google in Firefox. However, it is possible that this happened on my laptop but I do not have access to it right now.
I am always in fear of viruses and I desperately want this to be a computer glitch. I cleared the DNS cache, I deleted some files and apps and rebooted and its still happening! I don't know what file could've done it.

Seriously - it could be as easy as to just click "view certificate" so it opens up in Windows's standard certificate window where I can easily import it to my cert store, but someone decided it requires a bunch of useless and forgettable tasks so that FF recognizes it.

I'm giving my old Galaxy S7 to a friend, I've got her a prepaid SIM and put it into the S7 (my own SIM has gone into a new S22). I've managed to set up the S7 to sync with her data via DAVx5, Thunderbird was easy to set up thanks to the QR-Code export, and various other things worked as expected.
BUT she uses firefox sync, and so do I. I deinstalled firefox on the S7, and reinstalled it, and changed to her sync account - but all my own personal data (bookmarks, chronology etc) are still there. That's not only really annoying, but also a breach of my private sphere.
Google KI tells me to give her sync account a new password, before doing that decoupling from sync on all used devices; we have five, so that would be a real pain. The only other option I see is a factory reset and then repeat all the work setting up the S7.
So what I'm asking for is an option when firefox is deinstalled, or as an extra option in the settings, to delete all stored personal data.

I recently opened Firefox to see a new flagged warning under my toolbar that says "The security sandbox is disabled. Your configuration is unsupported and less secure."
I have gone into about:config and adjusted every security.sandbox element to see if that would change anything; it did not.
I am running on Windows 11 Home so I cannot install or properly run Windows Sandbox.
I would either like a solution to enable the sandbox once again, or just remove the notification from the toolbar.
why is someone allowed to modify my Firefox app to keep me from researching files then hides those files?
