I'm running version 118.02.2 (64-bit) of Firefox on Windows 12. I *always* have the 'Open previous windows and tabs' checked. Starting yesterday, Firefox opens with nothing other than a blank page. Luckily for me, this has happened in the past and I have a Bookmarks Menu folder with my default tabs saved. Even so, it's still frustrating.

I am struggling to try to like Firefox Mobile. I have Firefox Mobile version 114.2.0 on my Samsung S23 Ultra phone with Android 13, and 114.1.1 on my S7+ tablet. I do not like having to click the little button next to the address bar to open a screen showing blocks or tiles for the tabs have open. I have used Firefox on my PC since it was a new browser in beta. But I have never used it as my primary phone and tablet simply because of the way it forces use of those blocks or tiles on a separate screen instead of showing always visible tabs across the top of the browser. I can not find anything in Settings to force it to display tabs instead of those blocks/tiles. What do I need to do to force it to show tabs and have them always visible?

I currently am using Dolphin as my primary mobile browser, but I can not sync my PC Firefox bookmarks with Dolphin. I just got the new phone and want to make the switch so that I can sync bookmarks, but I will not switch until I can see the tabs across the top.

Thank you! DaveM

This applies to the latest Firefox for Android version (this issue did not occur with the previous version). I manually closed my tabs and closed the Firefox app when I exit. However, when I open the app again, the previously closed tabs are there as if they were never closed. This is fixed if I delete browsing data but, obviously, this is not an ideal solution. I have tried to attach a short clip of this issue in action but it will not upload. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am using Firefox 114.0.2 address bar only, no search bar. I do not remember when it was happened, but today when I want to copy and paste page address I found out that address bar did not display the page address as previous version, just display the words I searched as a search bar (if the search bar is enabled, and typed in search bar then push enter, address bar will display address of search result page, and search bar will keep displaying the words in it). I attached my screenshot below. Using another tab and "switch to tab" feature by Firefox, I found out the page address. In my screenshot, I typed "test" and using Google to search (I also tried Bing, Wikipedia and more and all of them have the same problem with their owned link) and the page address should be "https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=test" but even I paste this link into the address bar, it will only display "test" like the pic. I think it is a trim feature but I do not which preference I should edit in about:config. I have set "browser.urlbar.trimURLs" to false for displaying http and www, but it is not work this time.

In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

Currently using FF v94.0.1 64-bit (I usually lag an update or two behind to ensure stability -- my highest priority -- and avoid surprises.)

1) I notice that unless there are a sufficient number of tabs opened across a browser window as stretched to a given width, thus triggering the left-right ("<" , ">") tab-scroll arrows to appear, the TAB MENU itself (aka "List all tabs" button, a "v" down-arrow on the far right) is not present. Nor is there an equivalent way to initiate a tab search within the main MENU BAR (FILE, EDIT, VIEW, etc.) that I could find. This restricts access to the SEARCH TABS feature.

This "automatically keep-it-tidy feature" is not really an issue when only a single browser window is open. However, I have many windows (on different topics of interest), each with many tabs.

I can switch to another browser window that has enough open tabs to have triggered the TAB MENU, then search from there. Or I can use the address bar "%" method).

(Actually, I'm pleasantly surprised that Firefox, running on my older PC, is stable with hundreds of tabs open as accumulated over many months. Clearly I should change my habits!)

2) On your support page titled "Search open tabs in Firefox" at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-open-tabs-firefox , it describes (via examples) using the "List all tabs"/TAB MENU button to access the "Search Tabs" feature. It also outlines using the address bar "%" method.

Unless I misread the article, what it does not make clear, is that the "Search Tabs" feature works the same as "% xyz" in the address bar; whereas using "%xyz" (note the missing space) yields different results (apparently the same as "xyz %"; but "xyz%" yields nothing). Nor does it explain the reason for the different results or the importance/desirability/weirdness of using one method over the other -- it simply presents the examples. I believe this help page could use some expansion/clarification.

3) I noticed that when performing "search tabs" via either the address bar (using "%") or via the TAB MENU, the results do not include any open tabs using "containers" (apparently the same as any open tabs within "private" windows).

I am increasingly using the "container" features by opening then permanently assigning many "sensitive" web sites to one of the container categories. The increased security is a nice idea.

However, with many browser windows open, each with many tabs, this inability to search for and conveniently find open tabs is increasingly frustrating and is nudging me back towards NOT using containers.

Can't some solution be found to maintain the privacy between tabs (and perhaps even private windows) while permitting a tab search to work more thoroughly?

In summary, I simply want to be able to find ALL occurrences of any partial string of searched-for text within ALL tabs in either their title OR address, normal AND container tabs, and preferably in normal AND private windows.

At present I see only a list of 12 results and no means of listing more. Sometimes my "known" open (normal/non-container) tab is not present in that short list (perhaps a preference/sort order is needed for tab titles vs. addresses).

Why not a "List more results", or a selector button to scroll-list "10, 20, 40, 100, ALL", or a button to open and continue with a listing of ALL matching results in a separate pop-up window, etc?

Thanks for all your good and hard work!

When I click on any link from the Firefox homepage, the link opens in a new tab. For example, if I:

  • Tap the address bar from an existing tab to get the homepage
  • Tap the Wikipedia link from the "top sites" section of the homepage

Then the Wikipedia page will open in an additional tab. I want it to open in the same tab, because my Firefox session gets cluttered with many tabs that were all opened this same way.

Is it possible to avoid opening new tabs when following links from the homepage (after reaching the homepage from tapping the address bar as described)?

I always have a lot of tabs open, and could very easily streamline my work if I could group them into a system like Collections for Firefox Android. Bookmarks and Pocket do not make for easy working, especially when needing to revert to previous sites, and consequently the numerous tabs left open cause confusion and slow down the PC. Is there a similar system on Firefox for Desktop so I can group tabs/webpages/sites within Collections? Bookmarks and Pocket do not work in the same way and are very clumsy and cumbersome in comparison.

Microsoft Edge has its own Collections system, and if Firefox has nothing compatible, I am seriously considering leaving Firefox and reverting back to Edge, although I would be risking my privacy and security which I value so highly with Firefox.

Any suggestions please?
