When I read an email, there used to be a 'Next' and 'Previous' email button on the top line. This enabled me to simply move from one email to the next. In Thunderbird version 78.2.2 (32-bit), those buttons have vanished. The only way to move on to the next email in the inbox is to close it and go back to the inbox and open the next one. This is an annoying change, and I hope you can re-instate those buttons.

It seems that Thunderbird follows the Windows 10 settings and installs Dark mode, making the emails/messages unreadable. From what I've read, the only way to correct that is to set Windows in Light mode, which is not always suitable.

It would be nice if Thunderbird had it's own Light/Dark mode feature, allowing the users to select which mode they prefer.

Any thoughts/suggestions on the matter?

How to stop empty 'phantom' folders continually reappearing when deleted

I have a bunch of email subfolders showing up in Thunderbird which have nothing in them. Their names appear in italic, greyed-out. No matter how many times I delete them, when I reopen Thunderbird they've just reappeared in their previous location. This includes three in the Deleted folder.

I'm using IMAP and the phantom folders are not there in my provider's webmail interface, so it must be a local problem.

I know from internet search that lots of people have had this. Solutions elsewhere that I've already tried and that didn't work:

- unsubscribing from the folders: they appear in the subscribed list but without any checkbox next to them - deleting the .msf, panacea, etc. files: the folders reappear just the same after doing this

Has anyone found a fix that works? This is my work email account and the clutter in my folder pane is really unhelpful!

Hi all, yesterday I was trying to send an email (yahoo mail) (which I have used exclusively for years) and autocomplete was not working. Puzzled, I checked my contacts to see if the person had somehow been deleted, and to my surprise - I had NO contacts. Oddly, they were all there if I checked "Yahoo Classic View." Naturally I assumed it was a Yahoo issue, but got nowhere trying to look into it. Finally it occurred to me to try opening mail in Chrome and lo and behold, all my contacts were present, regardless of which view of mail I chose.

I really don't want to switch to Chrome because of mail, and although Classic View does work in FF, Classic doesn't have the autocomplete feature - which was the original issue, so it wouldn't solve my issue to revert to it.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Should I refresh FF and lose all my themes and add-ons and have to find them all again, or just uninstall and reinstall? Or is there a simpler way?

Thanks in advance you guys! (Also I tried to upload pics, but they won't load for some reason, I let it run about five minutes at least.)

I am a freelancer and working on wordpress websites. Recently, my client has asked me to do some change in her website. Website is on WordPress. I asked him for login details but the problem is whenever I try to login to the website it automatically log me out. What could be the issue of that. I am using mozilla firefox latest version 80.0.1. However, login working fine at her end. Is it something to do with the browser cache or something else?

I'm using Thunderbird 68.11.0 on Windows 10. I'm having problems with message filters in that changes to a filter which are made in saved in one session are gone when I restart Thunderbird. At one time, thinking the problem might be that I had too many filters, I deleted over 100 filters (via Tools/Message Filters/Delete) that were no longer necessary, and when I restarted Thunderbird they were all there again. (Aarrggh) This with changes not being saved has been happening for about a month. I'm using filters with the local folders account only, which is a subfolder of the Dropbox folder. (This is in order to share the same local folders between two computers, however in the past month I've only been using one computer.)

I looked in my local folders folder and there are literally hundreds of msgFilterRules.dat files there, such as msgFilterRules-1.dat, msgFilterRules-2.dat, etc., up to msgFilterRules-305.dat. So I deleted all of these except the msgFilterRules.dat file and restarted Thunderbird. As soon as I exit Thunderbrd, it creates a msgFilterRules-2.dat file, next time a -3.dat file, etc. What is going on? I also notice Thunderbird is creating an .msf file for each of these, as if they were a mail file.

Somethng seems to be broke, but what? How can I fix this? Thanks for any help or advice. Bob

It happens often: I am typing into a text input form on a website, and the pop-up (see attachment) appears for no apparent reason. In other words, I did not deliberately try to abandon my text entries, but for some reason the browser believes I have. Perhaps this is down to the overuse of shortcuts and touchpad "gestures" in my Macbook? I don't know why it happens, but it does. My question only concerns what happens AFTER the pop-up appears.

The pop-up has two buttons: "Stay on page", and the DEFAULT "Leave Page".

I have lost hours of work (text entry) because the DEFAULT is to "Leave Page". Again, this may be "physically" due to the twitchy Apple products I use, but it could be avoided if the DEFAULT were set to "Stay on page".

That is my first question: How do I change the DEFAULT to "Stay on page"?

I am told that this pop-up is the product of JavaScript running in my browser. That's all well and good, but it's not clear to me whose script this is.

My second question: What is the SOURCE of the JavaScript producing the pop-up; i.e. is this sourced by Mozilla, or is it sourced by the website creators?

I recently got a notice from yahoo that my yahoo and ymail accounts would have a security update. They said, for Thunderbird I should delete the account they add it back.

That worked for the yahoo accounts but the ymail account can't send messages. I get, "Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com timed out."

I seem to be able to receive messages from the ymail account.

Trying to get help from yahoo is useless. It is like ymail doesn't exist anymore.

I'm a senior citizen - new to T-Bird

Hoping that someone has the answer.

Downloaded T-Bird yesterday - wasn't seeing any pictures in email (so - I have the most recent version).

I changed something - and, now it looks like pictures from the web are showing - but not any pictures that are actually embedded in the email.

I was advised to ensure that View-Display Attachments Inline was checked - and it is.

Any help would be much appreciated.

TIA!!
