Are the contacts in Thunderbird independent of the email account source? I recently migrated a set of email accounts to a new provider. There are now two the email accounts for each address; the new one, named like myemail@mydomain.org and the old one named like myemail@mydomain.org (old). When I eventually remove the "old" email account for each person from Thunderbird, is the address book with that name also going to vanish? The address book is named just like the email account; and the addresses were accumulated during the "old" address period. But I don't see anything in properties of either the address book or the email account in Thunderbird that directly links the two.

Dear all,

I have tried setting up Gmail within Thunderbird 78.x.y. After entering credentials, and going again through login to the Gmail popup window I reach a state which is shown in the attached image.

Google security options: 2 factor off, less secure apps on, Captcha refreshed but nothing helps.

Does anyone have an explanation or solution?

I have an Xfinity/Comcast POP email account through Thunderbird.

For years, I have reliably used the Download/Sync Now button under the Get/Send Messages tab to sync my email back to the server (i.e. delete emails from the server which I've trashed on the Thunderbird client).

Suddenly, out of the blue, and without changing any settings, this feature no longer works, and emails I delete on the Thunderbird client remain on the server.

Ever since automatically upgrading to 91.2.0 when I save an email Thunderbird adds a lengthy string of data to the end of the filename which causes me great difficulty. Here is an example from an email from the NYTimes: "Today's Headlines Key to Biden’s Climate Agenda Likely to Be Cut Because of Manchin Opposition" is the filename. Thunderbird automatically adds the following to it. " - The New York Times (nytdirect@nytimes.com) - 2021-10-16 0101"

This information lengthens the filename which I have to delete because it messes up my archive where I save numerous emails. Therefore I have to delete it every time I save an email (60 or more times every day) and interferes with any search I conduct of those saved emails.

I have explored all the options under Tools and Help to no avail. Can you please tell me how I can get rid of this annoyance. It is causing me lost time in my daily work creating an archive of articles. I've been working on this archive for nearly 18 years and this problem is causing me a great deal of grief and lost work time. Thank you.

Hello. I foolishly today, a few hours ago, bought and installed mozilla vpn (1yr subscription). Once this was installed, it somehow screwed up my whole computer setup, and the consequences keep getting worse. I have spent several hours now trying to solve the accumulating issues, and it is getting worse. Of course, I uninstalled mozilla vpn, but that did not help. For example, my thunderbird client was no longer able to download my gmail mail, even though i was using the same password as was working ok on gmail. I put the question to the internet, and the recommendation was to uninstall thunderbird and install it again. which i foolishly did. the new thunderbird installation was balnk - all my e-mail accounts and data were no longer there! moreover, when I try to restart the accounts, thunderbird again rejects perfectly good passwords! This is a massive tragedy for me. please tell me what to do. can i recover my data?

I have been using Thunderbird email for numerous years.

At the end of June (2021) I started a summer-long vacation in another state, and prepared a laptop (Win 10) computer for the trip (with Thunderbird installed, of course.

Around July 5th I tried to peruse my email using Thunderbird on the laptop and was unsuccessful.... Zoho kept rejecting my email account password(s).... "login to server imap.zoho.com with username xxxx@xxxxx.com failed" (see attached)

I had the same issue with my account at gmail.com (Google mail) using Thunderbird. I have no other email accounts.

I assumed I had made some sort of mistake in the Thunderbird account settings on the laptop, but I had no way to compare the settings to my home computer (nobody there at my home and I was away on an extended trip)

Zoho was unable to assist me with Thunderbird. I assumed I did something wrong when I configured Thunderbird on the laptop and tried numerous parameter alterations without success.

I am able to access my email accounts at Zoho when I go to zoho.com directly, but compared to Thunderbird their interface is unwieldy and doesn't allow much screen space for email content (and, of course, I'm not able to save read emails to my Thunderbird local accounts).

I just returned from my extended trip and find that I now have the same issues on my home desktop computer, which was working fine when I left the last week of June. It (Thunderbird on my home desktop computer) also, rejects logins to my email accounts at Zoho and at Googlemail. Strangely, I can read new emails in the Thunderbird email accounts, but I am unable to reply to them or forward them.

The only logical explanation I can come up with is that an automatic update caused these issues. In fact, my home computer has a Thunderbird icon on the desktop that I'm not certain was there before (I keep most of my important program icons in program category folders on my desktop and in my quick-access bar at the bottom of my Win 10 desktop screen... so if an icon shows up on my desktop, I assume it is because of a product update). I am currently at Thunderbird 78.14.0 (64-bit).

I am trying to think of ways I can verify that an automatic update caused the issue.

I am able to log in to my email accounts by directly using zoho.com or google.com, but much prefer Thunderbird. I am hoping for suggestions as to why neither of my Thunderbird copies (desktop and laptop) are able to log in to receive email.

Thoughts and suggestions????

FF has been my default for decades primarily because of superior print options. I use Custom Print option to print out pages in larger front, but this no longer seems to work in 92.01. At say 115 custom I lose text to right and bottom of page (both in preview and print to PDF).

Over 20,000 spam emails arriving in my thunderbird inbox for last 3 hours. I called GoDaddy to ask them about the spam and we have gone into my webmail together and none of the spam emails are in webmail, so they say the problem has to be with Thunderbird. I am running Thunderbird 91.1.2 that was oddly installed today on 10/8/2021, but I don't believe I was ever asked to downloaded. Since the 3 hours of spam and now, I have shut down my computer once and so I am not sure if I was running version 91.1.2 before or after the shut down. I did get a webpage pop up when my computer restarted that said what is NEW in version 91. I am running Windows 7 OS, service pack 1. Please need help asap, as the spam emails keep coming more than 1 per second! Currently I have shut down the software, but I do need to reply to people. This is my work email and very important. I have used TB for about 10 years and never had this issue before. I have many email folders setup over the years. I would be very disappointed and saddened to need to uninstall and re-install everything, and might I lose my emails to redo everything? GoDaddy almost migrated my email from Linux I think to Office 365 about 10 hours before the spam emails started. It does seem slightly supicious that these 2 events are related, but go Daddy said they dod not think the issues were connected and just happen to be coincidental? Thanks so much

After FireFox updated to ver 93.0 (64 bit) the CenturyLink Webmail page fails to load properly (all I get is a blank screen). I know this is because of version 93.0 because the last PC I checked it on (My Windows 10 (64) laptop) still had FireFox 92.0.xx loaded and the webpage loaded fine, then the browser updated and the webmail page failed to load properly. The CenturyLink Webmail Page loads fine on Google Chrome and on Microsoft Edge.

Troubleshooting: In addition to the usual clearing browser data I even tried resetting FireFox on one of my PCs. It didn't help.

Centurylink tech support says there is nothing wrong with their Webmail and to use another browser.

I've attached a screen capture of what I see.

We have a Windows 7 pro with Thunderbird v78.10.2 that's been using TB for many years and a new laptop with Windows 10 TB v92.0 that has the same aol pop account. Just recently some of the old emails, Oct 8 and earlier, most previous read are having display problems. Some of them are blank (viewed in split screen or opened in new window) and some older ones either display the wrong message contents in split screen or show code instead of the message. The Win10 lap top has just a few months of messages but has the same problem with messages Oct 8 and earlier.

I just checked the Norton 360 log and found that it quarantined a file from the inbox on Oct 9. , 3xPM5BwYvQVewuv.exe.

Other AOL accounts on another computer are fine. The Win7 one with the problem has the profile we were going to copy to the new Win10 laptop when she starts using full that after transferring her documents. Is there a way of straightening out this inbox or do we look for are latest Retrospect backup before the problem and replace the bad profile folder contents?

I am having a serious problem with inputting information into web page interfaces such as GMail and online forms.

I am seriously dyslexic, so, I have to depend on tools such as copy/paste and keyboard macros in my quest to avoid typos and incorrect information and amounts.

The best example that I have is using GMail's Web interface to compose and respond to emails where the problem has increased to the point where it happens on almost every input session. For example, if I use a keyboard macro to type my name "Beverly" it almost always gets scrambled to something like "Byeverl"

This happens on some, but not all web input pages... another example, is trying to enter a number into a field that simply does not work if I paste. Sometime back, I went so far to create an AutoHotKey macro that put's a delay between each character that is in the copy/paste buffer. That seemed to work for a while, but has since stopped working apparently because the interface now detects that I left the input field in order to trigger the keyboard macro.

Since the last update - messages that I routinely need to forward will not send. Keeps telling me I don't have permission for attachment - which are all documents from my own computer. I kept switching messages (as I had forwarded all of them before- so have multiple copies) and then it would send after 3-5 tries - with no error message. This has NEVER happened and it is really a problem for what I use the email for. Can I go back to older version. The new update seems awful. Thanks for any solutions.

Note that the Tbird icon on the Taskbar says '5' (and the Tbird icon in the Notification Area hover popup says '5 Unread Messages' [not shown]). There _are_ 5 unread messages _after_ the (09:01) message that was forwarded automatically by a filter. But there are a _total_ of 13 unread messages (counting the one that was forwarded).

What counts as an 'Unread Message'?

What does the 'yellow sunburst' in front of the 'Subject' field mean?

Now both Tbird icons indicate '2 Unread Messages'. But there are actually _16_ unread messages (if that's what the 'yellow sunburst' means) -- counting the 09:01 message that was forwarded by a filter, and NOT counting the 10:06 message that I did read.

The tab under Inspect Element -> Inspector -> The column right beneath filter styles column has this feature that suggests you some css properties. On my browser they get filled in more than once, endlessly I might say (without me pressing any button). This makes it very hard to add any css styles and I'd like to know how to stop this behaviour.

You updated Thunderbird to 91.2.0 a few days ago. I didn't notice anything wrong until I tried to answer an email this morning and it wouldn't send. (I am receiving emails fine.) I tried various things like turning off firewalls and antivirus. A few times I thought it would send but it didn't. That is, the grey "send" button turned black but then it wouldn't send. I have various emails on different servers, including Comcast and Gmail, but nothing worked. Sending directly from the Comcast website works fine, or from my iphone. So it seems very unstable right now, and I need to send emails.

The other problem is the Address Book. I have always LOVED Thunderbird's address books because I have a lot of them and can easily see who is on which one and add new names to them. But today the list kept changing and I had trouble adding a name.

HELP! I want my old Thunderbird back. VERY UPSET!
