I've been having issues with Firefox on Ubuntu 18.10 for a while now. For whatever reason, whenever I try to access maps.google.com it states that the website is unavailable, whereas that maps.google.ca redirects to ww1.google.ca which, in turn, redirects to mediadiscovery.net - which is a website blocked by my router's adblocker. When I use Chromium or Vivaldi, I don't have that same issue, the website is completely accessible; also, if I instead use www.google.com/maps then I actually reach Google Maps from Firefox. I've already tried clearing cookies and cache, as well as restarting Firefox fresh. I only have one extension enabled (GNOME Shell Integration) and 3 plugins (OpenH264, Widevine and Shockwave Flash).

Any help is much appreciated. Also, I got the troubleshooting information while running in Safe Mode, which had no impact on the behavior I previously described.

I'm using Firefox with add ons including No Script. Something called jackhillty.net keeps following me around. What is it and how do I get rid of it ? P.S. I'm not a programmer or IT person. Please keep it simple. Thanks

When I open Firefox I get the message 'Firefox update error' and a virus warning with a number to call. I can't exit the tab with that message, and the whole Firefox site is frozen.

The message says something about Windows detecting a potential threat to my computer, with an error code 0x8024402. That code changed when I rebooted my computer but got the error message again. The number to call they give is 1-888-665-0936. I called, though I realized that this is a scam. As expected, someone probably in India answered and told me they can fix the problem remotely if I give them access to my computer. I hang up, of course, but still don't know how to fix this.

Sir/Madame With both CF and FF after installation within a week or so something started to call home and was stopped by Malwarebytes. I contacted Malwarebytes. Below is is the issue information:

Malwarebytes Pro has just started "stopping" an item from sending something outbound. I did complete scans and also scanned the folder that MB said was where the outbound message was blocked from. In both scans MB found no threats. The item originated in the Mozilla Firefox folder at C/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox (86)/Mozilla firefox exe. When I started using CF the same issue started again, this time it was identified as originating at C/Program Files/Cyberfox (86)/Cyberfox exe I looked there and also found nothing but I don't know what to look for. The found the item "xml.ckl1031"(.com) Google found it and said that "This domain is used by the RevenueHits Ad Network and is malware/adware". I use a new, up to date PC with Win 10 pro and FF as my default browser and often use Cyberfox. I would appreciate any help as it seems to be riding along with both FF and CF. I have scanned my system with Malwarebytes, adwcleaner, HiJackThis, Hitman Pro, Housecall, rkill, and Stinger64. and none have found anything that causes this calling home. At the Malwareytes forum, I received the listed info and I am including it to see if you all can help. It is to be found at this address, (se below). I am also sending this request for help to to CyberFox, to see if they have some insight on this issue. I am running Firefox Quantum 57.0.3 under Windows 10 64 bit. I have Malwarebytes Premium 3.3.1.2183 installed. During my last scheduled scan it identified 2 Firefox files as Potentially Unwanted Programs. These were: PUP.Optional.WinBing - DSENGINE.JS PUP.Optional.WinBing - DSENGINE.CFG Please identify what these files do, if they are necessary, and therefore what action I should take.

When am trying to login to Axis bank.It keeps on sending an error message saying Exception -99 Occurred.But its working good on chrome browser.Only this error appearing when I use Firefox.Please help me fix this issue.

I deleted and reinstalled Firefox yesterday. When my computer restarted this morning and I opened Firefox, my browser was hijacked. I was taken from the site I was trying to visit to an unknown site which displayed a warning about phishing/spyware being detected on my computer and instructing me to call a phone number that it claimed was for Apple Support (see attached screen shot). I did not call that number nor did I click on anything on the page. Instead, I tried closing the browser window tab but was unable to do so. Therefore, I force quit Firefox and reopened it, which immediately returned to the same page. Next, I shut down my computer and restarted it. When I again reopened Firefox, everything was fine—there has been no sign of the troublesome page nor any other problem since then. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there any chance that phishing or spyware was installed on my computer? The only download I have done recently was Firefox yesterday, which I got from the official Mozilla site.

Recently I clicked on an ad from watchTVnow(dot)com and it loaded malware on my laptop that reconfigured my "New Tab" page. The community helped me get rid of it (thank you very much), and I am scanning daily for malware, but now I keep getting cleverly disguised come-on ads that are from the same group. Their ID is in tiny print at the bottom of the ad, so tiny that anyone who hadn't been through my experience might not notice.

This is annoying for me, but I know better. My question is why these people still have access to Firefox and what can be done to ban them. The response I got from the forum before made it clear that this is a well-known source of malware. What can be done?

I managed to remove ransomware last year (or two) ago by uninstalling Firefox and then downloading the latest Firefox, but this time the ransomeware refuses to go away so I can not shut down Firefox to remove it using the uninstall wizard. If I reboot / restart Windows the ransome page comes up straight away under Firefox browser window. What can I do to remove the contaminated Firefox ?

I seem to be infected with some piece of malware/virus that keeps replacing my homepage and inserting a web address into my list of search engines. This is what gets inserted in both areas:

I'm also getting a "Close All Tabs" alert periodically (that keeps popping up after each attempt to cancel it) even though I've made no attempt to close out of Firefox.

After dealing with Advanced Mac Cleaner virus recently, I hope I don't have another battle on my hands.

I have a persistent ad banner which appears only on Amazon and Ebay sites, and only in Firefox. It began just a few weeks ago, and for the first few days it was an ad for Ebates, but now it changed to advertise some epsystore.com I attached a screenshot of it. There is no plugin, no add-on which I did not install. I removed and reinstalled Firefox but it did not help. Has anyone seen this? Is there a way to get rid of this thing?

On 7/9/19 when trying to sign into a website, which I've used for years, after I enter my credentials and click 'sign in' FF downloads "webgate.dll" and does not proceed. I am able to successfully log in using Chrome or IE. I most recently accessed this website via FF last week - no changes to extensions since then.

Hi. I have a problem with http://metagmae.org/page/ and I have no idea how that came to me. No matter what I do, nothing can help me to avoid that thing. It auto-starts Firefox and tries to get more information. It is said that it is a virus. And I can't delete it from Firefox because I can't find it. Can you please help me to solve this? I uninstalled Firefox and deleted everything but when I installed it back, it came back! It is terrible and makes me crazy. Please help me with that. I love Firefox and it is now almost 15 years I am using it. I started with Firefox 6.0 or something.

For security reasons, all new FF distributions are tested. When checking the distribution kit version 68.5.0esr (exe for x86 and x64) - the antivirus software "VirusTotal" detected Trojan.Inject.bcbj. FortiSandbox also scolded the distribution on x86 - saying that it deleted the file "% programfiles (x86)% \ google \ update \ 1.3.33.17 \ googlecrachhandler.exe" - its installation is undesirable in the ESR version.

Okay. A few days ago, I suddenly began having issues with Firefox crashing every time I try to save any sort of file. It doesn't matter the type - image, file, etc.

I have tried everything I can find in the forums and troubleshooting sections.

I started Firefox in safe mode. Still crashed. I reset it. Still crashed. I rolled back to an earlier version. Still crashed. I deleted Firefox and did a clean install. Still crashed. I have checked for updates on all the plugins/add-ons/extensions. Still crashed. I updated my graphics drivers. Still crashed.

I can't even include a link to the most recent crash report because every time it crashes, I get a message that Firefox had a problem submitting the crash report. I'm out of ideas at this point. I have a lot of extensions installed and enabled, but even fresh from the new reinstall, before I added any of them back, the browser would crash whenever I tried to save anything.

My default search setting keeps reverting back to Yahoo after I reset my computer. Closing Firefox keeps the one I change it to but restarting the computer changes it.

I can't open the history sidebar. The "Show your History" option opens it's tab fine (the drop-down that says "Show History Sidebar", "Clear Recent History..." ect.). But, when clicking on the "Show History Sidebar", nothing comes up. I can use the "Show All History" option but the sidebar doesn't open for some reason.

Ever since the FF 36.0.1 'update' suspicious websites are opening FF 36.0.1 windows in the background. Example: http://www.yousftware.com/kLBqRyPx/videoupdater?SiteID=278 which is reported as a malicious site by Malwarbytes AND Avast! Internet Security is somehow able to get into FF and open windows.

I can't use firefox at the moment because when I open it, multiple tabs open, all with the same spoken message telling me I have a problem & to phone a support number. The web address is http://attention.inugq.netdna-cdn.com/LP0501_UK/index.html I have tried uninstalling Firefox & running adware cleaners & also done a full boot-time scan but when I download Firefox again & open it, exactly the same problem persists. This is not a problem on Internet explorer or Chrome.

I have submitted this question using Chrome because my Firefox is unuseable.

I'm using Firefox on a fresh installed Windows 10 Pro (64-Bit) on a ThinkPad T560. After Installation, Firefox worked fine. Suddenly it crashed. Not it crashes directly after start. Crash means, that the Crash Report tool starts.

If I start Firefox as admin, it doesn't Crash, but every tab Shows a "this tab crashes" notification.

I uninstalled Firefox already and reinstalled it. But it crashes already at first start.

How can I fix this issue? Do you Need some more Information?
