I downloaded music files using Android version, but FireFox does not use same downloads folder. when I access these files in FireFox, no option to move them to the folder where I want them - or do anything else with them except delete. when i try to find them, I get no results using the file name displayed by Firefox. I can't find any way of finding out where FireFox stores files, or to change this default. we're talking about approx 50 MB here, which I had to pay a lot of bandwidth to download.

I would like to change the vertical size of the header area in Firefox so the persona images I choose will be easier to see. Right now, when I choose a persona image, it only displays part of the image. The bottom part of the image seems to be blocked by the little horizontal gray line that separates the image area and the standard white background of the Firefox browsing area. The gray line looks like you can just grab it with the cursor and drag it down (as you would normally to increase the overall height or width of the entire browser screen) but no love.

To understand why I'm making this ? you need to know the following:

  1. 1 I'm using a VAIO notebook that has no hdd, so I'm booting up from a Lucid Puppy 5.8 live cd;
  2. 2 have a 128MB CFCard with 2 versions of FF, a PET (not updated) & FF ver 3.6.13 that I recently downloaded & unzipped (because thought it was going to contain an updated ver od Flash - which is the one I'm using right now);
  3. 3 as you might already see, every time I start-up the system have to login to every site again & sometimes check for login-data for certain sites which I don't visit often.

I understand that if, before I shutdown the system, I save these data the next time I'll be taken faster to those sites without having to remember all the login data. I'm interested in saving the cookies, a Master PWD & the individual pwds for the sites. Any other data that you know of & you point out that'll be needed for my purposes that I'm not aware of will be appreciated. Thanks in advanced for any help on this! PS. This OS runs from RAM (which is at 512MB).

Hi folks,

I want to deploy FF 4.0 with customized user settings, but where is the "localized" folder for my prefs.js file? In FF 3.6.x we've extracted the setup.exe file and with sources we deployed our customized firefox. Now in FF 4.0 there are some folder missing in the new sources. Are there any documents which explain the deployment of FF 4.0? thanks a lot

Several of the add-ons I use the most have not yet become compatible with the newest version of Firefox, and until they release compatible versions I want to revert back to my previous version of Firefox. I didn't think to backup my Firefox files before I updated, so I'm looking for a way to re-download the most recent 3.x version.

Trying to setup up sync on another OS (same laptop, though: Linux and Windows); FF tells me the key is invalid. This is the key obtained from the other installation via the 'Manage' button.

The Linux side is, apparently, hooked up and working with Sync. I am now trying to activate the Windows side.

I tried copy/pasting it through a text document that is visible to both installs; it rejected it. I tried 'Save'-ing it from the Linux side; I opened that HTML file from the Win side and again copy/pasted it - rejected. I removed the dashes: rejected.

I have been careful to not get extraneous line-feed/returns when selecting the string.

(UPDATE: I have a third system, also setup with the same sync account, and the key that it suggests matches the key from the first correctly-functioning system. Putting that key into the browser that isn't currently connected doesn't work. So the two functioning systems DO sync up correctly and show the same key, indicating that the account itself is working; it is just that third system that doesn't like the key for some reason and won't sync.)

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks, J

Every morning when I do a soft boot to clear the cobwebs out of my PCs brain I have my start settings automatically load 6 apps. Firefox is one. Then I go to a toolbar start tab and click on open all Tabs and it loads 4 tabs for me.

I'm trying to automate this loading of the tabs

I'm using Firefox 4.0. The previous version had a function that asked, when you were closing Firefox, if you wanted the tabs you have open at that point to we load the next time you open Firefox.

This was kind of a jack-leg way of getting tabs open on re-boot, tho it was still an irritation....

This question does not seem to happened in 4.0.

Is there a setting to always invoke the question?

Better yet, is there a setting to always have the tabs / a select group of tabs always open on boot?

Example -in my case I load Vonage, then Sharefile, then 2 home page tabs.

This helps me keep my poor brain organized during the day as I'm multi-tasking in Firefox and the other apps and the phone and such.

My thanks in advance.

For ages now I've been taking this method of going to a website.

I'd enter say google and then hit Ctrl-Enter, and it would expand things out to be http://www.google.com and I'd go on my merry way.

However as of TODAY, I've noticed things are different. Ctrl-enter doesn't do that anymore. I'm now landed at a Google search page with google already entered in the search bar.

How do I get it to not do this anymore? Where'd my keyboard shortcut go for this?

Tkx.

Edit: I brain locked and originally posted this as Alt-Enter. I did not mean to do that.

System restore just stopped working. I restarted my computer this a.m. and when it booted up, my firefox websites were no longer there. Usually, a site comes up that states, "well, this is embarrassing...", but it didn't come up and it appears that I've lost my websites that I really needed... but don't remember their location. How can I get these back and how can I prevent this from happening again? I'm using Firefox 4.0.1; Windows 7

i just upgraded to the new version of firefox. for some inexplicable reason, you've added icons to the left of my personal menu choices in the menu bar. these icons are purely decorative, they take up too much room, and now i can't display as many clickable items in the menu bar. extremely irritating. if you are going to add junk, at least give us the option to not display it. is there a way that i can turn off the display of these useless icons?

Using Mac OSX10.6.7 and FF 4.0.1, I'm having a problem with the preference to always show the tab bar. I want it to always show. I go into preferences, and that option is now unchecked. How can I fix this so that my preference is saved?

Hi,

I've run FireFox (FF) for years and love it. I'm currently running FF 3.6.18 and am thinking of upgrading to FF4. However, a friend upgraded to FF4 and I notice that the tabs for the various pages are high up on the screen, away from the pages they relate to, instead of right above the page being shown, where they are more easily found and used. Having the tabs at the top is really inconvenient and this is a change that should never have been made.

My question is this: Is there a way in FF4 that I can change this so I can have the tabs immediately above the pages, just as in FF3.6.18?

Many thanks, Al
