Firefox’s built-in translation feature actively gets in the user’s way.

When translation is actually needed, it often does not offer the translation function at all.

Google sometimes links to Reddit pages that have been automatically translated into Korean by AI.

https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1om0x4d/reddit_on_firefox_is_just_straight_up_broken/?tl=ko

That specific page appears in Korean, but when you go back to the Reddit homepage, it appears in English.

However, Firefox’s built-in translator still recognizes the site as a Korean website.

Even though all the page content is in English, the translator incorrectly offers the option “Korean → English” instead of the correct direction.

There needs to be a shortcut or option that always translates “English → Korean” when the user wants it.

Firefox should not decide when to translate or which language to translate. That choice should belong to the user.

Additionally, a dedicated keyboard shortcut for translation is needed.

I used the built-in translator for a while, but the inconvenience became so significant that I gave up and reinstalled a translation add-on.

Is this the right place to post this suggestion?

Yahoo Mail settings. When I use Yahoo Mail with Thunderbird for Android, the folder structure is displayed in English. I want everything to be shown in German. Everything works correctly with Gmail; this is only a problem with Yahoo Mail. I've set everything to German in my Yahoo account, but it's still displayed in English in the app.

What can I do?

I dropped by to see if I replies to a query about Thunderbird. Sometimes the options to Login wouldn't let me in, it kept going to "Como colaborar" that went to a Page with mixed English and Portuguese, another page had mixed Spanish, Portuguese and English.

After a lot of translating, I made it my login. Wow! And my day has just begun. :) ~r

It beggars belief that such a mature email client as TB does not cater for Right-to-Left texts, to languages/scripts used by so many countries who are actually keen on opensource technology.

AFAIK the current solution is the bidi-mail-ui add-on, but then it's near impossible to get the slightly old version to work! Come on.

Is there a roadmap for this? Can we log a request somewhere? Wishlist?

Cheers

I previously posted this question: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1495577

Asking how to use the "intl.accept_languages" setting within the JSON for the new preferences setting within group policy.

A moderator posted this as a comment which I have only just noticed: "The value is a string, so it has to be in quotes "en-GB"" - the post is now too old for me to reply.

I'm still having issues using this setting even after putting the name in quotes. I've tried:

"intl.accept_languages": { "Value": "en-GB", "Status": "user" }

"intl.accept.languages": { "Value": "en-GB", "Status": "user" }

But neither work, please can someone clarify what exactly needs to be used within the JSON?

Incoming mail (txt only; no html) is getting more and more unreadable the last weeks. It looks like in the attached screenshot. I am desperate. What can be the cause of this?

At the same time there are problems with outgoing mail. Characters like 9 or : do not appear on screen although I typed them. When I copy the text to another program, these characters do show. Very annoying. Hope there is a solution to be found somewhere!

Best, Mike

I am using Thunderbird with IMAP accounts and the Swedish language pack. My Inbox is correctly displayed as "Inkorgen", but other system folders like "Drafts" still show their English names instead of the Swedish ones (e.g. "Utkast").

In the folder properties dialog, it looks like there is a field for the display name separate from the server path, but I cannot edit it for system folders. For custom folders I can rename them, but not for Drafts, Sent, or Trash.

Is there a way to change only the display name of these system folders without altering the IMAP path? Or is this a limitation in Thunderbird's localization/mapping?
