Ever since I updated to Firefox 132, I get a Tab Crash if I go to Facebook (logged in), DSLReports Forums (like https://www.dslreports.com/forum/vzfiber), and Rockstar Social Club (logged in).

I have tried playing with the settings, Troubleshooter Mode, and Private Windows...all the same result.

I'm trying to link a Gmail calendar. It started to work initially, then something went wrong and I had to start again. This time, in the Create New Calendar window, it says "The credentials you have entered were not accepted. Please check your settings."

I know the credentials are correct. I've tested them separately. The failed attempt may have left some junk behind. Is there some way to clear it? Thunderbird is up to date, version 1284.0esr (64 bit) on Win 10.

For the past 3 days, I've been locked out of using Thunderbird email. When I try to open it, I get a "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to restart now ?" "Yes/No" option pop-up.

This is infuriating. After several hours, I'm still no closer to being able to use Thunderbird again.

If I choose to restart, nothing changes and I just get the doom loop pop-up again.

If I install uninstall (via Windows Control Panel), again I get stuck with the "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to restart now ?" message.

I can find no useful advice in the Thunderbird help and forums. It's recorded as a known issue. But no viable solutions found.

Using Windows 10. Looks like Thunderbird tried to update to 115.16.2 on 28-Oct-24 (not something I requested).

Please let me know how I can fix it.

And do something to fix this bug (which is a shocker).

This is the second major issue I have had since upgrading to 128esr. I am really inclined to go back to 115.


The only way to get my Calendar to display properly is to leave that tab on top when I quit, so it's on top when I launch Thunderbird. If I don't do that, I cannot get my appointments to display and I get no notifications. The Calendar is blank and stays blank, even though it claims my Home calendar is not hidden. I did try hiding it and unhiding it again, but that didn't help. I do not have any Calendar-related add-ons.


It's severely annoying. It means that if I forget to leave the Calendar on top, I have quit, re-launch, and re-log into all my e-mail accounts (I've got a bunch). Could someone please find a better solution for this?


I am using Thunderbird for Mac on a MacBook Pro, 13 inch, mid 2012 running 10.15.7 (Catalina), which is the best the thing can do. Only tell me to upgrade my hardware if you are offering to pay for it yourself.

Having just used Windows Update (on Windows 10), the screensaver lock screen comes on with my chosen picture AND four large buttons for weather etc. I didn't ask for the buttons, and don't want them. Hello there. I've followed the instructions in the appropriate support article and transferred our Thunderbird profile from a Widows 10 machine to a Windows 11. My profile as a .zip file is larger than the 2GB limit, so I used the Widows Explorer cut and paste. It's likely that I've done something slightly awry as one of my local sub folders hasn't transferred. Otherwise TB works fine. Is it possible to just restore the particular local folder, as I can find both the entries in my mail folder on windows explorer? However the view of the two entries looks rather different on the two computers when I compare a local folder that has transferred. Regards, Arthur

Team, I am a longtime user and supporter of FF. I can't tell you how much I love the the layout of Firefox on Windows in v. 133 with the vertical tabs. Just as important is the fantastic, new font rendering. Thank you so much. I used to make multiple adjustments to the font in about:config when I installed FF on Windows. Now, the fonts look fantastic out of the box. Great job, team!

Firefox auto updated when I opened it today. Then when it opened, all that was on the screen was the menu (file edit view history bookmarks tools help), the "search or enter address" box, and in the upper right hand corner the words "private browsing" with the purple circle and eye eyeglasses icon. That's all. I have tried looking at my profile. It seems to still be there. This seems to be a problem with the Firefox software itself. I have re-downloaded the software three times, the last time I uninstalled Firefox from my laptop and totally reinstalled. Every time I get the same results. This almost blank screen. Let me be clear. There is no purple background, there is no Firefox icon, there are no tabs, there is no customized menu bar, there is no search box in the middle of the screen. I'm working on a Windows 10 laptop 64 bit. Please don't tell me to upgrade the Windows 11, the laptop won't take Windows 11. I get the same window whether I open the regular fire fox or the private browsing Firefox.

Also FYI, I indicated that I was continuing to use Firefox V 94.0.1 (64-bit) on Windows 7 Professional. This is because all versions later than 94.0.1 modified settings which had to be reset after an update. This was not necessary up to and including V 94.0.1 Cheers Graham Garden

I already have "Automatically install updates" and "When Firefox is not running" enabled.

But after each Firefox update I still get the "Do you want to allow this app to make changes..." prompt and "Firefox is installing your updates and will start in a few moments" window. These are inconvenient as they require user input and take up time.

I don't get these on all other browsers I use (including Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave), which all update in the background seamlessly.

Is there a way to prevent these in Firefox and just have Firefox update seamlessly in the background like other browsers?

I just purchased a new laptop and am trying to get Thunderbird up and running. I have an outlook email account and use it's calendar. On my previous laptop (manjaro linux) I ran Thunderbird version 138.0 which allowed me to install TBSync and customize via the chrome file. It worked great at bringing the calendar over to Thunderbird. Now, on my new laptop (also Manjaro Linux) the package manager is only presenting version 139+ to install but TBSync does not work on this version of Thunderbird and I can't figure out how to install Thunderbird version 138 on the new laptop.

So, I need help either syncing my calendar in thunderbird version 139 to my outlook account or on how to install thunderbird version 138 so I can add TBSync. I've downloaded the file for version 138 but don't know how to install it. This shouldn't be so difficult.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I am currently running Thunderbird version 128.11.0esr on Windows 11 on a Dell desktop computer.

I have been running Thunderbird for years. But back in February 2025 my previous Dell desktop died, so had to purchase a new Dell desktop running Windows 11. Then I downloaded Thunderbird and installed it on the new desktop then copied over the profiles that fortunately had been backed up just a week prior. It has been working fine. (When I installed the Thunderbird on the new computer I did not realize there was a difference between ESR (Extended Support Release) channel and Release channel; I just downloaded and installed what I came upon.)

However, around 5/28/25 got a pop-up message that stated something to the effect it is recommended I upgrade to Thunderbird Release.

Should I download and install a new Thunderbird from the Release channel? Will the existing profiles work with the Release channel Thunderbird? Thank you for your help.
