1. How do I TURN OFF 'animations' to speed up my browsing?

2. I still have no way to stop gmail, from 'auto filling' in my gmail address, as I log out, forcing me everytime to DELete it manually. I did try the fix a prior contributor to this site advised, NO change.

3. I need to find a better browser. I have a old slow laptop. Built in 11/11, is a Acer Aspire. 1.4 speed. Even lots of

things disabled and running about no special apps, she's slow.

bear in mind, the apt. bldg. provides the internet/wifi in the rent. They call it 'hi speed' it's more like slow/middle speed. And many neighbors run 4-5 devices of a 140 unit bldg. I run just this one laptop no other devices at all.

Recently been to the Microsoft store for some things. At the store my Acer runs VERY fast so it's not only my laptop but this bldg. Having said THAT, I speak often to the neighbors and theirs run FAST. nice and fast.

So if I had a NEW Asus ssd i7 I am certain I'd run fast. Meantime, at nights I often get thrown offline or can't hardly at all use my yahoo mail...just buffers.

All right, basically, I have one big problem and one smaller problem. The big one is that firefox is really slow to load bing, pages taking upwards of 30 seconds to load fully, and most of the time the page loads, and then it buffers and buffers while it loads the rest of it (like the rewards thingy, and my profile icon, and the options)

I've tried disabling plugins, and nothing works. Also, on Reddit, my RES subreddit list and my never-ending-reddit thing both never work and they tell me to add firefox to the cookie exceptions and while I did, that doesn't work either.

And I don't think my Ryzen 5 or GTX 1070 or 32GB of ram or SSD could have a part in this...

This has never happened to me before but today when watching some videos the player size changes leaving a lot of white space on the sides of the video. It seems to be that videos that would generally have black bars on the side are now showing up in a smaller video player but this is not the case with other browsers. For some reason I am unable to post screenshots. Any help is appreciated.

When I attempt to load two Twitch streams in two different tabs, one in each monitor, only the currently "focused" tab will buffer and stream video. The other will have a perpetual "loading circle" as if it is trying to buffer.

Occasionally the suspended stream will SEEM to resume, and attempt to "catch up" by rapidly skipping any missed frames (usually minutes of content skipped over).

If I "click into" the problem tab and bring it into focus, it will immediately play the stream as normal, while the one that WAS playing properly will quickly begin to encounter the same issue.

If one tab is loaded, but not visible, then the audio from it will play without a problem while the other, fully visible tab will play both audio and video as normal.

This issue has only occurred during the past week. It does not occur while watching simultaneous YouTube videos (making me think it is specific to Twitch) and it does not occur when using Google Chrome (making me think it is specific to Firefox).

Since upgrading to package firefox 61.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1, the pop-up menus are all invisible.

I can click the "hamburger" menu and nothing visibly happens. But then I can click in the area below it and the invisible menu item is activated. The same behavior happens for things like the Pocket button.

I've tried safe mode and refreshing Firefox. The behavior stays the same in both cases. I'm lost as to what to do other than roll back to an older version.

I could understand it not clearing the cookies if Firefox was to crash or indeed my computer crashed (power failure etc) while I was browsing. I have become increasingly aware of the possibility of "cookie mining". Even though the cookie may be encrypted, knowing where they originated from and how often provides data as to website usage. I now take the view that if Facebook or google or Microsoft or anyone else wish to use my information (of even the most innocuous type) from which they will derive income (advertising profile data) they should pay me for it. The Firefox development community may have a different view but because they are champions of privacy & security, they should tell us. If they have switches that only designed to work "sometimes" they should also tell us and explain the logic. I could understand not clearing cookies from a previous session, because the option may have been different under that session, but I NEVER change that option. Still Firefox seems to be spasmodically not clearing some cookies on exit.

There are all sorts of dire warnings about not blocking cookies and I understand websites may use cookies to improve the "user experience" while you use that website. I also understand that a "hidden" website such as web beacons or other advertising gathering tools can store cookies related to the present "parent" website that you are visiting and these cookies are then available for interrogation by an entirely different website that happens to also use that beacon or tool. In short cookie mining.

Open source is open source. If Mozilla (I am a long time supporter) wishes to have policies or directions that are changing or at odds with what we users expect or have come to believe then that is fine as long as they tell us and explain their reasoning.

I want to see Firefox in the browser box, not GOOGLE. I don't want to see Google anyplace but as a choice to use for a web search next to Yahoo and a bunch of others, as it's always been. I've found out from past experience that when you give Google an inch it takes way more than a mile. I hate Google, don't trust it. I know it can provide all kinds of good things, but then when you hook up with it, that's when it pulls the rug out from under you. Never, ever trust Google. Google is evil. They remind me of the drug pusher on the school ground. Look what they did to Google images -- took them away. Also, my server (Spectrum) provides me with McAfee antivirus, but my computer shop told me that the computer would not allow Microsoft downloads with McAfee and so they installed Avast. Avast is annoying, always trying to get me to sign up and pay a lot. I'm wondering if the problem with McAfee is not caused by giving Google so much power over my browser and web searches. BTW, I'm not even sure what the difference is between a browser (like Firefox) and a search engine like Google, Yahoo etc. I just know that I like seeing Firefox in the browser box, and NOT GOOGLE. Somebody please rescue me from Google!
