I am currently using Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox Quantum 59.0.2 64-bit. On some websites, I am unable to select the password field either using tab or a mouse click to be able to enter a password. This leaves me unable to login. However, this doesnt seem to happen on all password fields.

For example on https://reddit.com I can enter username and password on the field on the right. However, if I click on Login hyperlink on 'Want to join? Log in or sign up in seconds.', I get a popup which I am unable to click the password field on.

I have also seen this problem on https://abnzb.com

I have tried to run in safe-mode but the problem persists.

My addons are Gnome shell integration, Enhanced Steam, HTTPS Everywhere, uBlock origin.

Also, to add to this. When I right click on the password text fields, I do not get a menu popup. I am not sure if this is related or not.

Using Windows 7 64bit. Firefox opens and runs a separate page in the background. The extra page does not open and the only way to see it is to open ctrl/alt/delete and that is the only way to close it but I have to go to processes to close it, it will not close in applications. Today Firefox a page loaded in the background before I opened my FF browser. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice to no avail. I have removed all themes - nothing. Please help me fix this, I have used Firefox for years and love it but this latest mess is causing my computer to overload its ram and loading too many temp files.

I have tried:

Running in safe-mode without add-ons. Checking About:Config that animation is set on true Checked if html-5 works and is all blue.

Gifs work fine on any other site and .mp4 (non-looped) works fine.

Please help. Issue occured after fresh windows install, all drivers and programs are therefore as up to date as possible due to installing them just days ago.

I bookmark something and it goes to the recent bookmark list but when I click show all bookmarks I get three no title folders. There is nothing in the folder. Where are my bookmarks saving to? How do i get them back so I see them all?

Also i want to add. I backed up my entire pc and reset back to factory in December 2017 I think. And i didn't back up firefox right so I lost almost everything. I had an old back up from 2014 which I used to recover some bookmarks but all after was lost.

Actually my entire computer is weird now I'm locked out of changing all the back up data from the reset but I have accepted it now.

Since today morning firefox has been starting continuously. At first it was Gah! Something went wrong crashes. I ran a spyware check with malaware and removed a couple of trojans. After that firefox as a whole began to crash. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but the issue still continues. I also removed the add ons but nothing is working. Some of the more recent crashes are not visible here.

When trying to preview any videos, I am no longer able to enable the sound. Sound works fine when I actually WATCH a video, but sound is disabled for previews nd I can't get it to enable.

4 more crashes today after 2 yesterday. will send the error messages upon request. I have reported this before. I thought it might have gotten better as only two crashes yesterday but today after around four got bonkers again. Please help me / Could it be I have an avast blocker for ads and such running. Could this be the problem? Got rid of a full time running Malwarebytes and updated as much as I could except for motherboard drivers which I can not do. Might just have to jump shop as this interferes with doing my Amazon Mturk work. Might have to join the evil empire and go to chrome of all else fails and really do not want to. Any further advice might help. This all started with the new updates about 8 or 9 days ago.

Hi, As you see In the picture, this what I see most of times when I play any video or even A gif picture on facebook 85% shows like that, and only 15% works normally.. But on Youtube, Almost all videos work 98% without problems!!, this problem shows more on Facebook.. I have the latest version of my video card *Nvidia GT610 2G * And also Firefox Quantum.. And also the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.. *Windows 10, 8G Ram, Processor Intel Core I5 3470T* Although when I play any video from any other Browser, It works so normally without any problems at all!, but I love Firefox the most, I used to open from this great browser, I'm suffering from this problem for almost a year! please, I need a solution to this problem, HELP ME!

tl;dr Firefox sync is constantly synchronising an old set of bookmarks and, potentially passwords etc despite me wanting to upload my changed set. I need to know how to force my current local copy to overwrite whatever is stored in the cloud to avoid having to restore my bookmarks every few hours. How can I do that? The only other option is to disable bookmark sync entirely. This is on Windows 10 running Firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit).

Long version if anyone cares. I like to be thorough.

For the longest time I've used XMarks to handle my bookmarks across multiple computers and browsers and had no issues with it until the past few months. It started failing to sync or would partially sync and I didn't notice because it never gave me any error messages or pop-up warnings. I only found out when I had to format and reinstall because the most recent backup was from so long ago that I temporarily lost a lot of important bookmarks. Luckily, as I used multiple computers I had another computer I could pull them from and did that.

From that point on I've been using Firefox sync as much as possible. However, Firefox has started pulling a set of bookmarks to my computer from the server that is missing a lot of what I use frequently and one of those changes involves overwriting my Bookmarks Toolbar. It literally just happened again as I was typing this out. I can and have restored from a backup file I am now maintaining but every day it will sync and I have to restore from the old backup and it's driving me crazy. How can I force my local set onto the cloud sync so they're matching?

Some time ago i had a problem with a malware toolbar. I uninstalled it and got rid of all the extensions and add-ons that were related or even kind of suspicious and it solved the problems. But since I solved this problem, i can't get to set my newtab page, i can only see a blank page. I would like to go back to the about:newtab menu and i know it can't be done with the add-on for that, but i tried to put different urls with it and it didn't work with any of them. Again, this is the only problem i'm having now, i don't have any suspicious add-ons or extensions.

It used to be a part of DuckDuckGo, but they removed it. I'm not clear on why they took it down, but I assume they had a good reason.

Can I add as JavaScript to the settings in Firefox?

MacBook Pro, OS 10.11.6, 8G RAM, FF 59.0.2, 64 bit.

I am having a specific problem that I think may explain a lot of the memory complaints people are having. In this case it's not that FF starts out using too much memory, it's that at some point it makes a big grab for more (hours to days later). It does this all of a sudden going from around 1G to 2.5G and then increasing. Processor usage goes from 10% to 90% at the same time. Eventually the program becomes unusable and the machine as well. In that case it was a specific website that triggered the rise. In my case, it would happen at random times. In the mac's process browser I noted that most of the CPU was being taken by one of the FF Web Content threads. I searched for that thread in about:memory. It was holding 300MB for youtube.com. On a whim I closed that tab and the problem went away. FF memory went back to 1G and CPU went back to normal.

Is it possible that something about youtube.com and the website mentioned by #1197254 is tickling a cache bug in FF? Overzealous pre-fecthing of video under certain conditions? I note that "about:memory/minimize memory usage" would quiet things down for a while, but only removing the tab fixed the problem.

The behavior still happened in safe mode. This is not specific to Macs, people on Windows are seeing it too.

Any thoughts?

Have had issues with XHR calls holding on to the wrong DNS address. The DNS Cache Expiration is set to 60. The ip resolves correctly in every other DNS lookup available except Quantum. That holds onto the incorrect ip address until the network.dnsCacheExpiration is set to 0. Causing several customer complaints about Firefox, repeatable on my own version of Firefox. Our suggestion right now to users is not to use firefox while this behavior appears to be occurring. Would like to support firefox but can't if the DNS caching appears to be broken for some users and is turned on by default.

I understand that bookmarks will no longer sync between machines, but will it still be possible to view old bookmarks in the Firefox sidebar and will it be possible to create new bookmarks in Firefox? Can you tell me please how exactly the loss of XMarks will affect bookmarking in Firefox. Any advise on how best to manage this major change? I have 12 years of bookmarks. Thanks.

Long time user of Firefox (and Thunderbird) - in last few days started getting the yellow bar warning about a web page slowing down your browser with the options to wait or... some pages I can click on wait and it will continue soon after, other times Firefox freezes and can only be stopped through task manager.

This happens on sites such as Google Maps, my financial institutions websites, etc. I've tried safe mode, refresh, disable all extensions, disable hardware acceleration, etc - nothing works..

I'm on an Spectre X360 laptop with 16 GB Ram, 512GB SSD drive, UHD display. Running Avast anti-virus. On 5Ghz wireless to 150Mpbs internet connection.

I installed Chrome to compare, not a single problem with speed and no yellow bar messages.

In past, I've had no problems with speed - even with multiple tabs open.

What happened? This just started out of the blue, at first I thought it was our ISP until I tried Chrome.

As I tried to enter my plugins below, I opened the add-ons manager and when I went back to the tab to enter them got the same yellow bar A web page... error! ON THIS PAGE!

I have reset Windows 10 on my laptop and reinstalled the apps from scratch. Firefox works but the Sync feature doesn't work. The Sync will connect to my account but will not actually complete a synchronisation cycle. I have tried with a new profile but it's the same problem. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox but it's the same problem. I could send a sync error log but don't know how to attach it to this question. The first ERROR entry in the log is this:

do not have security software. dl'd and ran malwarebytes nothing found. www.amazon.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

Windows 7 Dell Precision M4700 laptop. (I can log into it on a mac I tested). Mid morning it timed out on me and I couldn't log back in. I spent all day with tech support to no avail. They reissued me a new password. Re-registered my account. Cleared cache and cookies several times. Restarted the computer several times. Re-insalled FireFox. Refreshed in Safe mode.

They can't find anything on their end. Nor do they receive any login failures as they normally would/should be able to see. When I fill in my user name and password it looks like it's trying then both user & password boxes just go blank. No errors, no you've typed in the wrong user name or password. Nothing. Just fill in again.
