Whenever I visit a page that contains even the smallest of Flash objects, Firefox stops responding briefly and then a dialogue pops up to say that Shockwave Flash has crashed. I have tried all of the fixes I have found on other questions: I have reset Firefox, run it in Safe Mode, disabled all extensions, reinstalled both Firefox and Flash, downgraded both Firefox and Flash and turned off Flash's "Protective Mode" etc. The problem only seems to have come about after I upgraded to Firefox 20 yesterday if that is of any help. Flash also crashes on IE and doesn't work properly on Chrome (YouTube does not play sound for example). I have run out of ideas and I was wondering if anyone has anything that I could try. Thanks in advance for any answers!

How do I set downloads to automatically save instead of prompting me to open them?

I recently reset Firefox. Before whenever I downloaded a file, it automatically prompted me if I wanted to open the file or save it to my computer, with saving it to my computer preselected. This was fine because I almost never want to open these downloads automatically, and I like all my downloads to go into my downloads folder on a separate drive with much more space (not the temp folder on C:\). The option "do this automatically for files like this from now on" was useful for the rare file type that I would want to open automatically (usually because it's a very small music file or something).

Now every time I download virtually any file type, the prompt comes up with 'open the file' preselected, and "do this automatically for files like this from now on" greyed out. As a result, on more than one occasion, I have mistakenly clicked ok and opened huge files automatically after downloading (which has resulted in them popping open even hours later and playing automatically once the download finished). I'd like to be able to select "save it to my computer" and have it do this automatically, but that option is greyed out.

The help available seems to suggest going into options>Applications and changing the action for the appropriate content type, but: (a) not all the content types I download are listed, i.e. .mov, .mpeg, .rar, etc. (b) changing the action for the content types I do have (.wmv and compressed/zipped folder only) has done absolutely nothing.

I'm still prompted for each and every file I download, still preselected to open the file, with the "do this automatically for files like this from now on" still greyed out.

I'd like to change it to the way I had before, or at the very least automatically set all downloads to save into my downloads folder.

Suddenly, since the latest update (20.0.1) my right-click menu is terribly LONG. It's filled with things that seem useful, but are not to be and are not necessary at all. E.g. it contains video-control options, like mute and play, go full screen.

More weird and worse above this is: absolutely nothing in that same menu works or does anything. I

Here is a screen capture of it. It is the regular menu, randomly clicked, which appears everywhere. http://s23.postimg.org/ur0zwg4bf/regrigclibar.png

What's about this? Bug? I think anyway it is broken and needs to be solved.

I ran a search under Google news for Bill Lerach around 4:15 pm EST, and there was one result for an Apr 24, 2013 article "Who's Teaching Your Children" to the Dallas Blog, and when I clicked on it I was directed to a message "Firefox can't find the server at forgud.qhigh [dot] com." However, when I clicked back to the Google news result page and put my cursor over the link to the article the link was to dallasblog [dot] com, and yet when I again clicked on it once again got the message "Firefox can't find the server at forgud.qhigh [dot] com." Why am I being directed to this odd web address with the "server not found" message which is inconsistent with the hover link for my search result on google news? I'd appreciate any insight on this issue. Thanks.

I would like to change the background colour of the 'about' pages to #EFEFEF or a named colour if such code cannot be used and, if possible, the font colour as well. The white background is my main focus.

I am hopeful that the colour(s) can be changed using the userChrome.css file.

I have been unable to find an answer to the specific question or any source providing a comprehensive list of element and attribute names.

I am using Firefox 20.0.1 on a Linux operating system.

After upgrading to version 20, I have a problem that has never existed before. Basically, after starting Firefox, it looks there are 2 title bars - both having the iconify, maximize, and close buttons on the right. The top one is titled as usual. The second one is nearly empty except for a new 1-button menu access button. On the first line below those two, I have a regular multiple-entry menu bar, the location bar, and my search bar. If I go into the new collapsed menu set and unselect Menu Bar, then my whole 3rd line, including location bar and search bar disappear. If I then go back and reenable Menu Bar, then things go back to what I have been accustomed to, with the extra 2nd line title bar and its single button gone.

There are two outcomes I would be happy with here, but I have not been able to accomplish either. The first would be for Firefox to start up in the manner I am used to without my having to fool with disabling and reenabling the Menu Bar. However, I would not mind if the new title bar with the collapsed menu button _replaced_ the old title bar, and the regular menu bar I have now were to go away. That would leave more room for the location and search bars on the same line. The second outcome would actually be my preference.

It is conceivable that I long ago tweaked something in about:config that is causing this, but I cannot find anything to suspect. (I did see entries in there for the old tinymenu addon, which I no longer have installed. I could not delete them.) I disabled all my Stylish addons thinking they might be interacting, but that did not help.

I had this same problem about a month ago and turning off acceleration helped some. Acceleration is still "off" but the problems are back again. I'm also not able to scroll all the way down a document, it uncontrollably returns to the top. Somehow this is related to using my mouse. I have no trouble when I use IE as my browser. So it leads me to the conclusion that it is related specifically to FF.

I'm a lawyer and routinely download case documents from legal databases and many other websites with no problem.

Up until recently I would click on a document link and Firefox would open the document up. At worst, Firefox would not recognize the file type, but once I told it to use the selected program for that file type, it had no problems. In particular, the court databases save scanned or converted PDF documents as a type called "File", which means I've had to save the program preferences.

Sometime in the past month or so, Firefox stopped cooperating. I admit that I downloaded some add-ons and tweaked some settings, but I've now uninstalled or disabled everything but the most trustworthy add-ons, and nothing looks weird in my settings. Nevertheless, the following now happens when I click on a link to an electronic document:

1. The document is downloaded. 2. I click on the download arrow and double-click on the document 3. A window comes up asking "do you want to open this file?", says it's an unknown file type, and "While files from the Internet can be useful, some files can potentially harm your computer..." and shows a checked box saying "Always ask before opening this file." 4. I either hit OK to open it or uncheck the box and hit OK. 5. Then the "Open with" window comes up. However, the box to always use the selected program is greyed out no matter what program I choose, so each time I do this I have to go through this window. 6. If didn't uncheck the box in step 2, another window comes up asking me again if I really want to open the file. 7. Finally, the document opens but across the top it says "the validity of the document certification is UNKNOWN. The author could not be verified.

All of these files save as type "File," all are PDFs, and all open straight away in Chrome and Explorer. I love Firefox, but I access these databases all the time and need to avoid these hassles with downloads.

What could the cause of this problem be? Is there a way of solving it?

Only Firefox seems to have this problem, other browsers function normally. I've tried contacting the BBC without success. From what I read on the site there are a lot of people complaining about the appearance and content (not functionality) and I assume they are wading through a lot of complaints.

I have disabled all add-on's yet I still can not get http://www.dxmaps.com to load. It loads on Google Chrome and IE just fine. I believe it is related to the 'allow reload' feature. It doesn't matter if I disable the ALLOW it won't load. If I click on the Allow just keeps popping up and still never loads the maps. I hate to go to Chrome just because this can't be turned off for a specific site.

Please fix it!
