How do I take a screen shot of a received email message? I have a Win 11 PC, updated to most-recent. I tried [shift] [Windows] [S], and selected the portion I want (the entirety), but there seems to be no way to save this so I can send this as an attached file. (I am unable to send it as a forwarded email.)

Hello, 1. This is Sheila Herman again. I'm having problems with my other computer. I have two accounts: Harry's ([email removed]@twc.com) and mine ([email removed]@twc.com). When I tried to send an email, this message pops up: Login to server mail.twc.com with username [email removed]@twc.com failed, and I can't receive messages too! 2. There is only 1 Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane, and should there be 2? I would be grateful if someone could help me solve this annoying problem. Compacting fails with error message " The folder 'Inbox on **********' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again." This happens on both my PC's, which are not connected in any way, but have duplicate installations. The profile is 7.75GB - PC A - Win 10 Pro - has 704GB spare disk space, PC B - Win 11 Pro - has 50GB spare disk space. I can think of no reason why write permissons would change. This problem started with ver. 138 & has continued with ver. 139

Thunderbird has worked great for me for years, up until a few days ago. Currently running 137.0.2 and am encountering two problems. I have several emails and this has not been a problem in the past.

Now, I start TB and all works fine for minutes or an hour or two and then some inboxes start to display "No message found". If I close TB and restart it all is good, but noit for long.

The other issue which pops up is

"The folder '[Gmail]/All Mail on XXXXXX@gmail.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

I have over 200GB free on the drive.

Thanks for any help solving this!

PS Win 10 Pro, so maybe time for me to upgrade to Win 11 which I plan to do in the few weeks anyway.

For the past week or so, I've been getting the following message every time I open Thunderbird.

"The folder 'Outbox on Local Folders' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

Also, the folders appear to be empty, but the eventually repopulate. I have plenty of disk space and haven't changed write privileges. A Google search doesn't turn up any solutions. Can anyone help?

I have hundreds of folders; and move an email in inbox to a folder is turns a pain. In Outlook for Mac there is a future which name is Move To Folder... opens by "command + shift + M". Can search inside the folder and can move super fast and easy. I would like to have in Thunderbird and I'm ready to donation again only for this feature =)

Hi there,

I've recently had a problem with a couple of client PCs where their Thunderbird profile folder has grown to fill the entire hard drive. In both cases, the relevant account folder in the profile's ImapMail dir had grown to over 300Gb. This account takes up 45Gb on the server (where I'm running Dovecot with maildir storage). In another case on both PCs, an 18Gb account had grown to over 90Gb.

Both client PCs are running up-to-date Thunderbird (139.0.2 64bit), one under Windows 10 and one under Windows 11. Both had auto-compact set, with the minimum saving reduced to 100Mb. Both problematic accounts are shared accounts that use a deeply-nested folder structure. In both cases, I was forced to delete and then recreate the these accounts in Thunderbird.

I'm an experienced sysadmin who is also running the mail server, so I am able to provide any extra info needed. Additionally, I accept that these are large email accounts; I'm in the process of setting up an email archive system for the client using Piler. I have read many other reports of outsize Thunderbird data folders; these are usually referring to less than 20Gb. The problems we're having seem to be an order of magnitude larger!
