Hello -

I just upgraded Firefox on my Mac Mini M2 (2023) to version 124 (64 bit). When I start up Firefox it starts (I see Firefox in the top menu bar) but it will not open a session window. In addition, the top menu bar is in an inactive state (i.e. the words are in grey instead of black). It seems to be in a partially open state.

I have tried (1) waiting to see if that fixes things and (2) a cold boot of the computer. Both things did not work.

Thank you very much for your help.

During a "folder compact" one folder just was cleared and all mails are gone. Tried to copy a folder from another laptop following a tutorial. Copy seemed to be OK, paste too to the "local folders" folder. Everything, I mean all the files are there, apparently untouched, but when I open Thunderbird there is no sign of the mails.

I presume a step by step sequence of the moves to take, fool proof, both laptops, may help. Kind of "first, switch on both laptops..."

Thank you for any help.

Unable to auto-update firefox for few versions in a row (have to download installer every time)

I am not sure when exactly problem started but for few months I have problem with automatic update of firefox. It properly detects update and downloads it but when I click to restart browser and apply update (this should close browser and display update install bar) nothing happens - browser simply closes. When I launch it again and go into "about firefox" again I see spinning circle next to "installing update". Of course this update never installs. When I close it for 2nd time and go into "about firefox" it goes back to "update ready to install, click to restart" - and again, when I click it browser simply closes without restarting and installing update. I tried removing my profile, using safe mode, disabling antivirus. Issue seems to be related to firefox itself. I also tried removing mozilla maintenance service but it did not help. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? For now only way for me to update firefox is manually download full installer from website and then it installs latest version without any problems - until next month comes and I have to update it again.

Hello, I have migrated my thunderbird onto a new windows system but I now get not automatic download of messages, the only messages I might get is if I close down Thunderbird and reopen. Get messages does not do anything - not even sure its attempting to communicate with server .

Is there anything I can do or change ? I have literally spent almost trying various things and I am the point of giving up and trying a completely different email client. There should be a seamless migration method but it appears there is not.

hello, I've tried to migrate the original 'profile' directory (appData -> roaming -> thunderbird -> profiles) to a centralized NAS, to have access to my mails (POP3) from several computers. I copied the whole thunderbird directory to the NAS and changed the profile directory in thunderbird to the new location. But now there are no more mails visible, neither on the original PC, nor on an other laptop. Instead of that I see some dozens of (sub)directories of the profile directory, and some else in the left window... What's more, now I cannot change the directory on the original Pc back to the original location on the local harddisc (there is an error message, that the directory would not be not suitable...) What am I doing wrong? I am using windows 11 and 10, and the Thunderbird build is 115.8.1 (64 bit)

I have a Google account without a Gmail address. I use my Google contacts account as a secondary file for little-used contacts. I want to be able to access these contacts in Thunderbird but offers no way to access Google accounts that don't have a Gmail address.

I will not set up a Gmail address just to be able to use Thunderbird for this handful of contacts -- there are other clients that don't give me this guff.

Somebody please tell me there is a workaround that doesn't involve copying dead contacts into Thunderbird every time I shuffle my address books.

I have spent the whole day trying to resolve this problem, without success. I am not a professional computer person, just computer user. All help appreciated

I downloaded Thunderbird to a new computer. I put the drive of the OLD computer into an USB drive and plugged it into the new computer. I can browse from the new computer to the OLD drive appdata/roaming/thunderbird without any problem. I launch Thunderbird and created a profile because as far as I know you can't do anything else until a profile has been created.

I launch the importer. I select Thunderbird profile, click next and select the path to the OLD drive where the profile lives. It fails and says something about an error log I can't find.

Take two: I copy the profile folder from the OLD drive to the new computer's desktop. I choose Thunderbird import and I select to use a different folder. I point it to the folders on the NEW computer desktop, and it fails with the same error.

It shouldn't be this difficult. I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong, and if so I need someone to please tell me what. I have time sensitive information in my Thunderbird email. Maybe someone has a "step-by-step" procedure for doing this and can explain it to me like I am 5 years old, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Peeps
