Would love to switch from Safari to Firefox on my iPhone. Found Mozilla Help instructions, but there is no listing in the App Store for "Firefox for iOS page." I see only Firefox Private Safe Browser and Firefox Focus: Privacy. Neither shows a Get or Install button. I tried tapping the first icon of these two. When I tap the icon, I see "open this link in external app? with a link. I can click ok or cancel. When I do either of those, it just takes me back to where I was. Please advise...

bold textTHUNDER BIRD Keeps crashing

Transferred the Local Folder Filters

I recently had to restore my iMac and now Thunderbird keeps crashing

In restoring my system I had to change my Apple ID password. But all the other programs except Thunderbird and Evernote appear to work ok.

The Thunderbird on my iiPadPro 12.9 still works but every time I start Thunderbird on my iMac the screen comes up and then crashes.

Originally after restoration my list of Local Files and Filters for my account did not transfer so we went on your site Moving a Thunderbird profile and followed the directions and now the Local accounts (178) are back but all the filters are gone, but they appear to be there for Local Folder but not the ones for my named account.

Hi, I have been using Thunderbird for 5 years now, and like it a lot. But I have a problem now.....

My Thunderbird App link suddenly became unlinked. After searching *thunderbird*.exe there is no Thunderbird.exe file on my computer now. I searched this forum with "Reinstall" and the most recent relevant one said all folders and contact lists would update, and I just download the app and follow the steps.

Then when I download and it says I have a new profile. Then the one "What are my Options" is: Do nothing.

Please give the link to the clear instruction, or advise the steps to retrieve my folder structures, contacts, and have the program connect to my yahoo email accounts (same as before). Thanks!

Suggested improvement... It would be very useful to have the forum search engine to be able to refine searches, instead of expand searches: Example: Search "reinstall" get over 100 results. "How to reinstall" gets over 700 results and most not relevant to reinstall. Maybe my thinking is wrong. Thank you.

When I turned on my computer this morning a message said I needed to download Firefox Update, so I clicked on that link. About a half hour later after it had also updated Windows 10 a page popped up telling me I had been sent a code to my email that I would need to input. I have not received an email or junk mail with any code. However, it looks like I already have Version 86. Please help me with this issue. I am so overwhelmed with computer issues I'm on the verge of tears right now. My last Windows 10 update Did NOT install and I am not the only one with this issue, but NO help from Microsoft. Did Mozilla update Windows 10 to accept the new version of Firefox? I looked at your educated guess, clicked on Show Details, nothing came up. Then I clicked on Troubleshooting Information and Share Data. I don't know if you are able to see this list or not, I don't know what 99% of it means, but I did copy a few things that may be helpful. environmentVariables": {

I already have VERSION 86 according to the information on Firefox. But the message I had this morning specifically asked to download FIREFOX latest version. Please help. Rhonda

I downloaded the latest Beta version of Thunderbird the day it was released. I have used Thunderbird as my preferred mail client for two years and have updated it twice with no issues. This latest version does not recognize my existing profile and will not import my contacts, archives or passwords. I have been able to get it to send and receive on my primary e-mail account, but how can I get my old files back?

Up until now, I have been very happy with Thunderbird. I have used it for many years and always accepted upgrades when offered. However, the upgrate from verison 68 to 78 has been a disaster for me. When I allowed Thunderbird to install the new version, it no longer recognized any of my previous configuration or mailboxes/folders.

I use POP servers and keep all of my email on my local disc. I have between 50 to 100 local folders, many with folders within folders. The upgrade did not find my existing login's for my email services (gmail and Comcast). It did not find any of my existing mailboxes/folders. In fact, it seemed to be a completely new installations, asking for my email services credentials. It did not find any of the many folders I have organized to hold all my old Emails. Those are kept in .MBX files with .TOC files.

How do I recover my old configuration and mail boxes? Is there a program that will convernt my old email folder structure to whatever the new Thunderbird uses? Or do I have to retrograde back to version 68 to keep my old mailboxes/folders?

I am very disappointed that no warning was given about the major changes and significant functional differences before asking to install the upgrade. This problem has cost me over a days work and much frustration. (And just so you know, I am a computer professional/programmer, so I have some idea about what I am doing.)

My computer hung in middle of automated installation of Thunderbird (?to 78.7?). Eventually, fed up with waiting I forced a "cold" restart, after which when I tried to run Thunderbird I got a failure message recommending me to reinstall Thunderbird. Using a browser, I found the website and selected download. Then when I try to run the download, it asks me to force a Windows restart to clear an older version, but when Windows comes back, the error message has not been cleared. I have downloaded, run and re-tried at least three, perhaps 4 times, and during these the version has gone from 78.7 to 78.8 ! How do I get out of this. You cannot email me because Thunderbird is not working! I need access to it to comminicate, and am worried that a drastic measures will loose my preserved live email (inbox and stored sub-directories) and my address-book (which gets use=referred to for nuch more than just email).

I just updated Firefox on my Mac to Firefox 86.0 and the app itself became named Firefox 2. When it is running the name on dock is now Firefox 2.

I tried to change it back to plain Firefox (removing the space character and 2 from its name in the Application folder).

When I did that an relaunched it the display looked a bit weird and all of my bookmarks were gone!

Changing it back to Firefox 2 made it well again. I have never, ever seen Firefox do this.

I was using one of the older versions of Thunderbird (76) but I had to start using the latest version (86) because I needed it to sync with my work email.

I am running a debian-based Linux distribution. The older version was installed through the package manager, but the newest beta release came with the executable in the folder I downloaded. I therefore never really 'installed' it, I am just running the executable and everything is working fine.

My questions are:

1. How can I transfer my personal Thunderbird calendar from my older Thunderbird? I have other calendars elsewhere which I have already synced to the newest release, but the Thunderbird-specific calendar I was using in the older release seems to be gone. I found a folder inside the hidden .thunderbird folder called 'tvpkve6n.default-default'. Inside it, I see a folder called 'calendar-data'. I thought copying this folder to the current folder of the beta release would do the trick, but that didn't work. I also copied it to a beta folder inside the hidden .thunderbird folder, but that also did not work. Any suggestions?

2. How can I import my saved list of contacts from the older to the newest release? I couldn't find the file where my contacts are saved, and now every time I have to write an email I have to first go find that person's email, which is quite frustrating.

3. I now seem to have two instances of Thunderbird installed on my computer, which doesn't seem right. In the forum of my linux distribution, I was adviced to not run the older release again, because that might break the functioning of the newest release I am currently using. How can I 'install' the newest beta release, so every time I open, or update, Thunderbird, I will be using the newest release only?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Today I tried to update Firefox through the Help/About Firefox dialog. The update from 85 to 86 appeared to go fine. I got the Click to Restart Firefox and complete Update button, and the application restarted when I clicked the button. However, opening the Help/About Firefox dialog again displays the message "Firefox is being updated by another instance". It is not, so it appears that this update has not completed correctly, and, in this state, I suspect that further updates won't work either. Has anyone else seen this issue?

I probably committed one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

A customer of mine had me to reinstall her laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 while strongly asking me to keep all her emails. So I carefully backed up her TB profile folder to a usb drive, did a fresh Windows install on her laptop (deleting old partitions and creating only one partition instead) and after installing the newest Thunderbird I restored the aforementioned TB profile to its place. But - it didn't work...

It turned out that I happened to back up the wrong TB profile folder. Instead of the one in ...\username\AppData\Roaming I have successfully backed up the one in ...\username\AppData\Local folder. This seems to be some kind of cache folder of Thunderbird since it has such named subfolders inside (see pic). It's size is ~338M though so I suppose something must be there... Also, it is likely that the old TB version was (much) earlier than that of the latest one.

Is there any chance to extract/restore all/some emails from this cache folder?

  • The email account in question is of POP3 type, it is supplied by her ISP. I have her user/pass and also the proper server addresses to set up the account again, so that is not a problem, only the emails (especially the ones in Inbox) are important.
  • I have also consulted with a technician at the ISP but without any luck. The POP3 mailbox and TB's default way of working leaves no emails in the account itself. Even if they had a backup of the account let's say from last week, there would be probably nothing in it.
