When I install Thunderbird and try to run it, I get a message that the profile is missing. Thunderbird will not then start up so I can fix the problem. (I would like to install a copy of my profile from another, very similar, computer but need Thunderbird to start up in order to do so - but it will not start.) So how please can I expunge all traces of Thunderbird (Application, profiles and any other registry etc entries) such that I can then do a clean new installation?

Firefox is making itself a "pain..." again. It is now unhappy I am using an OLD PROFILE and wants me to use/go to a new one.

Your advice? Of course I hesitate as going to rel 87.0 got me into this trouble in the first place by losing EVERYTHING and forcing me to create a new profile, while "hiding" everything and started me from scratch. So now again, "I hesitate". I am almost 84 yo and I cant keep trying to recover FIREFOX bookmarks, add-ons...history.. keeps losing with every release.

Your advice? TRY to get at least, the bookmarks I recovered to a "new" profile or ignore FIREFOX and keep using my old working profile? Anyone find a way to "recover" lost ONETAB URL's?

Short version: I have a local folder on my Thunderbird account containing almost 12,000 messages imported into it from a .mbox file generated using Google Takeout. I've linked a new G-Suite account to this Thunderbird account and want to import these 12,000 messages into my new G-Suite inbox. Every time I try, about 245 will import and then it stops and will not advance past that.

More detail: My personal Gmail account was checking and sending mail for my work account, which was set up on a web hosting server. Because of issues with that web hosting server, I decided to upgrade to GSuite. Because I had about five years of work emails in my personal Gmail account (almost 12,000) and often refer back to them, I wanted to get those emails into my new GSuite server. I sorted them all into a label I named "Work" and used Google Takeout to export them into an .mbox file. I then downloaded and installed Thunderbird, uploaded that .mbox file into a local folder in my Thunderbird account and configured Thunderbird to import/export to my work email address on the GSuite server. That all seems to be working fine, but every time I try to import the contents of the local Thunderbird folder containing my 12k work emails into my work email address that's connected to Thunderbird, it only moves about 245 of them.

Any thoughts on what I could try are so appreciated. Thank you!

I have a virtual w10x64 machine which I need to play old flash content on a specific (trusted) website which is the only one allowed in mms.cfg and which does not use https. With the latest update to 78.9 FF does not open the flash content and the pages anymore. So I reverted to 78.8 but the auto-update always intercepts.

How can I disable the auto-updates for good? Is there possibly a policy for this?

I think the FF programmers need better imagination on specific scenarios before they impose so called "security features" on the users and break their processes.

When I attempt to open files instead of saving them I get the dialog box with the check mark for "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." But it asks me this every single time for the same file types.

Do I have any recourse?

Thank you.

Hi, I am attempting to follow the various posts/videos to migrate my Thunderbird account to a new PC. This is necessary as my old PC is having hard drive problems and keeps crashing. I tried 1 suggested simple fix of just shutting down my explorer from the task manager but I still got the class not registered error. Unfortunately I believe the faulty hard drive is the reason I am getting a class not registered error when I try and open my profile folder (at least from 1 post I read). Thunderbird has also been crashing, again likely because of the hard drive. Anyway I can work around this problem?

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and MS Office 2019 Professional Plus and need to re-install a lot of stuff. I want to download Firefox to use as my default web browser. When I download and install, the icon shows up on my desktop all right, but when I click the icon to open the browser, the tab says "Problem loading page" and displays "File not found" error message (screenshot attached here).

Does this have anything to do with the "Sync" option that keeps popping up? I don't know what that means, except it looks like it wants to "sync" my computer with my phone or any other devices, which I don't have any interest in.

Please help! Thank you!

I downloaded the latest version of Thunderbird for Windows 10. I installed it. I started it from my non-administrator account. I entered the server information. After a couple of minutes, I realized that I had forgotten to un-check the box to synchronize messages (which can fill gigabytes of my hard disk). I un-checked it. But Thunderbird kept downloading messages. I rebooted, then uninstalled Thunderbird. It kept my account settings. (I wish that the uninstaller would give an option to remove *all* files!) I opened Windows Explorer and did a search from the administrator account to try to remove old files and folders with "Thunderbird" in their name. It found nothing. I switched to my non-administrator account and tried another search. It found two folders named Thunderbird under AppData. I removed them. I rebooted. Then I reinstalled Thunderbird. I was able to be quick enough to un-check the box to synchronize accounts before it downloaded too much data (luckily I have slow Internet, so not too much was downloaded before I could cancel!). I tapped the Alt key to force Thunderbird to show the menu bar. I clicked the View > Toolbars item. It showed a list of toolbars.

The "Quick Filter" toolbar was greyed. How do I get the Quick Toolbar option? It works on all of my other Thunderbird installations. Thank you.

PS: I suggest adding a setup option to ask whether to synchronize all messages -- to prevent downloading gigabytes of messages that (apparently?) can't easily be deleted. My laptop has a total of 64 GB of storage.
